  1. So I decied to take a trip in the way back machine and skim through the old DX toy threads from before the things where even released and in amongst all the hilarious rage I noticed something truly mind boggling.

    final product

I'm surprised that in the 4 threads since the release of the VF-25, not a single person has commented on the fact that not only does the pilot look like a poorly painted blob, but that it actually unimproved going from pre-production to final toy. seriously Bandai, what the f*ck?

I've gotten over almost everything wrong with the DX toys to the point where I can almost consider buying one, but I just can't get over the fact that the pilot looks so absolutely terrible.

Blob you say? Take a look at this peice of melted plastic that comes with Yamato's VF-11C (Courtesy of CollectionDX)

  2. If you have an old Bandai 1/55 VF-17, the screw on the back of its head will fit the 25's shoulder perfectly. That's the screw I've used on my Alto.

Or you can always unscrew the other shoulder and record the dimensions off that one.

Perhaps CD-ROM screws may work? Those little PC screws to connect hardware parts. They seem to be small enough, not 100% sure though.

You DA MAN Omega! I just happen to have VF-17 and the screw fit perfectly. Thanks Alot!

  3. If you haven't heard of a pile of broken V2 shoulders then you haven't been listening. The first edition Focker they released has an epic failure rate... although not quite as epic as their 50/50 VF-0 toys. The Bandai DX 25 is still a long ways from hitting double digits in failures and when it "breaks' it's a screw that is broken... not a crucial part of molded plastic or something like that. People can't help it if their toys are broken from the get go, or break immediately thereafter, but there is certainly a proclivity toward panic in all toy forums.

Is this comment directed towards me? In the event that is.. of course I've heard of the problems with the V2. What does that have to do with what I said? In regards to your comment about panic. Well personally, I ain't panicking. I've bought the 25G and still have the Armored S on pre-order. So all I was saying is that mine broke and was asking the community about what action to take next. Fix it ? (which is obviously easy) or talk with HLJ to possibly get the retooled version I was expecting.

  4. Granted, not a huge pile up of broken DX VF-25's yet, but that's the essence of complaining...we all want something that does not break out of the box, and being in the upper levels of valk pricing, that expectations grows high too. I don't want to get into Bandai vs. Yamato really, but I have to say there is also a lot of complaining about the V 2.0 1/60 VF-1 and mines are ok, and I haven't heard of a pile of broken shoulders as was the case with the VF-0

You mention bitchin' and complaining...and that our expectations are too high. 'm not sure so that this is an accurate description of what SOME of us are doing/saying. I don't know about you but I don't expect anything to be broken out of the box. Not a 4 dollar transformer, not a microwave, and well... not even a 150.00 toy/model. But OK whatever if you want to call us whiners that's up to you.

  5. As long as you can get the remains of the screw out with a pair of pliers, it's pretty easy to find a suitable size replacement screw.

Still, it sucks that it should happen in the first place.

    Graham

I was able to unscrew what was left of the screw with needle nosed pliers. Until I hear back from HLJ I'm in a holding pattern for now. Thanks for the sympathy Graham.

  6. I understand what you feel. You purposingly ordered the new version knowing that they have no old stock left... And then they ship you an old stock one week before the new version is out...

Probably you should express this to HLJ and see if they would do something. Worth trying.

Thanks alot. I just sent them an E-mail hoping they do something about it. I'm kinda sad tonight. First bad experience with any Macross Toy right out of the box : (.

  7. I believe it's not the revised version? Are the holes on the back different from that of your 25G?

AFAIK (from Yahoo auction JP), the re-issue VF-25F doesn't seem to be out yet...

    Thanks!

Yeah there are no holes near the back of the neck near the little flare thingys

Oh and I preordered the April release on purpose as I didn't want the first run : (

  8. So I just received my VF-25 restock from HLJ. This is the best part of my story unfortunately. As I'm transforming from plane to battroid I rotate the arms out of the stock position and the left arm literally falls out of the shoulder hinge. It fell : ( It just fell without the slightest bit of provocation!!!!! : (. After transforming my 25G multiple times I was praising Bandai's durability/playability. The head of the the screw that holds the arm and the shoulder hinge together just popped off. What do I do? Please help.

  9. I applied a single coat of over the entire surface of the T-shaped peg that flips out.

As for the brand I'll have to look at the name when I get home, I don't remember off the top of my head. Something like "N.Y.C". Clear of course. ;)

If you do this, make sure you let it dry thoroughly first. It should only take several minutes but I let mine dry overnight just to be safe.

Thanks Eriku. I'll stop by target tonight to get some polish and give it a shot.

  10. Sorry to hear that. I wonder what is different between yours and mine. I've transformed mine a few times after applying one coat of clear nail polish and it still works perfectly. Maybe the brand? In any case, sorry to hear it didn't work for you and hopefully Bandai will take care of it for you.

So the honeymoon is over for me with the 25G. The crotch lock is loose and battroid caves in with light pressure or movement. Where exactly would I apply the nail polish and what brand since maybe it matters

  11. The exact same thing happened to me a few years ago when I first got mine. I have since sold it; but here are my easy step repairs. Never thought after all these years that having saved these pics would be useful to anybody....:

I am sure other people do a much better job at this. My effort was born of desperation, as this was my FIRST ever Yamato toy and I was still under the illusion that hundreds of dollars spend on a toy warranted me being sweaty and "doing something" other than waiting for a better release ;)

Now I'm waiting for a better realse :)

    Pete

Yikes! this is exactly what I needed. Thanks alot!

  12. So after a few years of not being active in the Macrossworld community, Frontier has reignited my interest/fascination with everything Macross. So.. last night I decided to open my MISB 1/72 VF-11B (you know where this is going) and as I pulled the figure out the legs just fell to the ground. Back in the day...(in the old forums) someone had posted an instructional on a DIY fix for the hips. I've been scouring the forums for over an hour and now I'm ready to beg for help. There's mention of a member named Jesse who recasted the hips and that would be the way I would want to go..but if I could find the original instructions on how to fix that would fine as well. Thanks.
