  1. Although the SDF-1 thread has been euthanized, Yamato has put up some more details about the 1/2000, including assembly details, marketing technobabble about how it's the first time anyone has made a prototype design available, and some pictures of the component pieces in the kit:

Hello i was reading this post and checking the link and the translation from google and i was thinking that maybe i was getting an error in the translation is this thing really going to cost 200,000 yen????? around 2000 dollars????

i think that is a lot of money for a 60 cm figure don't you think

  2. Hello, sorry for arriving so late to the thread but i actually think that the reason for Mac II not being part

of the canon is more on the same line of thought of what happen to the Highlander movie franchise

the first movie was good but the next 2 movies weren't and actually were very strange movies that didn't

fit with the direction and history that they wanted to give to the franchise so they simply decided that they weren't part

of the canon and they leave only the first movie, the tv series, the fourth and fifth movie

I think that the same happened to Mac II it simply wasn't going in the same direction that they wanted to

give to the franchise and the easiest way to do that was to remove them from the timeline and declare it

    non canon although official

the starwars franchise is different because in that one although you can create anything you want (as long as

you have LucasArts or George Lucas approval) they are never considered canon until they officially say that it is

or until they put it as part of a show where Lucas himself is involved i think that this is actually very useful for them

because if they see something cool that they really like they can use it without having any kind of continuity problems

(and even with this they do have continuity problems and plot holes just remembering the arguments about which mother

princess leia's memories is she talking about when luke asks her about her mother)

anyway those are my 2 cents

  3. Hello, well thinking about having more than one captain inside the sdf-1 i was thinking that here

in Mexico there are different military degrees for captain in the navy, for example this is more or

less a translation of the official military degrees( i don't know the exact translation sorry if there

    are mistakes)

sloop of war (or corvette) captain (in spanish is capitan the corbeta)

frigate captain (in spanish capitan de fragata

ship (or ship of the line) captain (in spanish capitan de navio)

and depending on the size of the ship is the rank of the captain being the ship captain the highest

ranking officer, and well following this line of thought Global is in command of the biggest ship and

because of that maybe he is like what happens here in Mexico the highest ranking officer and the

captains of the other two ships his subordinates

  4. Like a lot of people around here my first contact with macross was through robotech i

live in mexico city and i remember the first time that the show aired here it was

around the year 1985 in channel 5 of mexico city since the very first moment i loved it

i watched all the series, and remember that some stores started to bring some toys

but i never found the VF1 that was the one that i wanted, i only found a couple of

zentradi pods and the action figures of rick and lisa, in that era the only toy that i was

able to buy was a small pirated copy of the sdf-1 in a flea market near my house

A couple of years later i found a macross videogame in one of the arcades, some

years later in one of the stores i found a VF1 it was really nice but too expensive

and i wasn't able to buy it.

Then i think it was 91 or 92 i went to one of the first comic book stores here in my

city and i found a small magazine made by fans and in that magazine they made an

article about macross and robotech (in the cover of the magazine they put a couple

of pictures so i bought it) and that was the moment when a learn about macross

also around that time there was a radio show about comics and anime and they made

a feature about the history of macross and around that time was when i learn about

DYRL and i was able to get a pirated copy again in a flea market.

After that it was until i think it was 1997 when in one moment i started looking in the

internet about robotech and found the episodes in real player format and i fall in love

again and started looking for macross stuff again

That was my experience in the dark ages

  5. i don't think that isamu, and guld are better than roy because if we start thinking a little well

if you talk about new technologies and prototypes well roy was part of the test pilots of the

very first VF's and that is even harder because everything about them was new and also roy

had more experience than both of them because roy was already a veteran combat pilot even

before the first VF's, also we really don't know how good was guld because we only see him in

a very advance VF that he was piloting using his mind which is something similar to what happens

wih brera of course both of them have to be very good to be entrusted with those kind of machines

Also i don't think that hikaru was better than roy because while roy was never shot down hikaru was

and of course max is the best pilot he was simply a genius he could do amazing things and he

wasn't as reckless as other pilots he was always in control, alto is good but he is very young so i

don't think he is in his prime yet and ozma is already in his prime and he is not as good as roy or

    isamu
