Just took a quick look at mine, no cracks or anything. However, the right arm does have a thicker metal part as opposed to the left where I saw the breakages in the photo.

The fins look like they are folded out in that picture. And I agree, it's more likely to be cost cutting animation than actually intended. The original series was plagued by that.

I prefer folding down the fins when in battroid. I always have to be careful not to bend them and they get in the way when I'm trying to hold the thing by its legs.

Actually, if you look at the Yamato website, they list 2 prices there and the higher one has the Japanese domestic tax of 5% and the lower one is the MSRP without tax. HLJ always sells it at the MSRP.

Rubbing off on your fingers or scratching off?

I wanted to make a pose that looked like he was changing directions quickly to shoot at something in the air. Unfortunately we'll never know who he's shooting at since I don't own any enemy figures.

I believe Roy told Hikaru maybe in the first episode that they had thermonuclear reactors for powerplants. So they technically don't run on any fluid for fuel which was the big limitation of the VF-0 since it ate up gas so quickly and they always had to retreat.

And as for could they fly in space, if you give anything enough thrust to overcome its own mass since there no drag, it will move. You could stick a rocket on a cube shaped ship and it will still fly. The only reason our space shuttles are shaped like aeroplanes is that they have to fly in and out of the atmosphere. This is one of the big reasons they are building the space station so that they can build atmosphere-free ships.

The Vf-1 is smaller than all other valks. So even though the scale is bigger, the vf-1 is just that much smaller than a vf-19.

I'd say no. I assume the G-Nu compete with the revoltechs and fighter mode seems pointless since there's not a lot of articulation and you'd also be competing against model kits that can probably do the same. A fighter that small might as well be gashapon. However, since the line is non-transformable, Yamato might as well bring out the destroids and other stuff that that aren't transformable and deck them out with articulation so people who don't want to shell out for a 1/60 destroid can still get one.

That part that you broke could have easily happened on my vf-1s. It didn't come out easily when I first transformed and when I tried to go from battroid back to gerwalk, that top tab wouldn't fit back into the hole. After trying to jam it back in, it seems I've worn down a lot of that tab and now I think its smaller than the hole. Now they come out really easily but I think if the side tab and hip bar wasn't there the leg would just fall off.

While you're looking in it, you should check out the tailfin scratching.

Are people breaking their hinge by not lifting it over the tab? Or is it breaking while they are lifting it over? I've transformed it about a dozen times so far and I don't see a problem. I lift it enough so that the hinge gets onto the tab and then I let go and let it rest on the tab while I push it across and then lift it up again to get the end off.

I just wanna figure out exactly when it is breaking.

I think some people damaged their hinges during transformation while trying to get the shoulder over the tab. For me, I'm always scared that I'm going to lift it too high and the whole thing is gonna snap off.

I just saw this video review on the other thread by collectiondx. This is a pretty good transformation video too so thanks to him.

The only thing I noticed about the vid was that he skipped locking down the chestplate and went right to inserting the hipbar into nosecone.

Maybe at some angles the legs might get in the way, but you can easily open out the wings to let them through and then close it up again. I'm just basing this on how I think the revoltechs work. From what I can see in pictures, they have the waist joint at the same spot that I mentioned. But I think they made the wings a little smaller on them to let them move easier.

I think they can easily make the waist turnable. Just looking at mine right now, theres a black dividing line between the canopy and the hip bar door. Just put some sort of joint there and voila, you can twist the upper body without affecting the legs.

I think he means that it looks so good that it's comparable to the non transforming model kits.

My intake covers came loose and popped out on their own when I was trying to force the legs back onto the chestplate for fighter. I leave them off now all the time since it looks way cooler.

vegas, I'm not sure if its just the angle or lighting, but your canopy doesn't seem to have the reflective tint in the photos.

It looks as though the 1/100 is missing the landing gear doors on the legs.

After transforming my valk back to fighter today, I noticed my fin got another scratch in it. The first scratch is the one at the edge and it wasn't too bad, but now this new one is right smack dab in the middle and big. Just wondering if anyone else is getting scratches like this from the bump on the backplate when I fold the backpack. I've resorted to taping the area to stop further damage.

I made a stand for my only valk from a dvd spindle. I feel so intimidated with everyone posting their armadas. I cut off the top of the spindle and then inserted the stand clip in there and jammed some paper to fill in the gap and hold it in. I can't get it to work for fighter because it's too heavy on the rear.

edit: finally got it working. i'm not used to adding pics.

I can't read Japanese, but the pictures are pretty simple and clear and they are simply showing you what the guy does in the video step by step.

I think the ease at which the hip bar comes out depends on how flush you make the backplate with the nosecone. When I first transformed it back to fighter, it came out really easily. The second time, I noticed that my chestplate and backplate weren't parallel so I pushed the two until the U shaped holder that locks down the arms in fighter pretty much meets up with the nosecone. I had a bit harder time getting it out that time.

After looking at those pics I just got an idea to make my own. I've got a 100 dvd spindle case that's about as high as those. Now drill or cut a hole at the top of the black pole and put the Yamato display clips there along with your valk. The wide base makes it very sturdy and you get to use the clips without having to pay for the actual stand. The downside is that you can't adjust the stand. Now this is all in my head so don't blame me if it doesn't work.
