  1. I think the recap episode mentions several "Fairy" candidates, of which Sheryl wasn't even the first. Besides, if anyone with a progressive V-type infection can potentially be the queen, then all she'd need to do is hold a pagent, & infect someone more aggresively than she did Sheryl.

As for Grace swapping out blood samples, it could be becasue of the virus, but more likely, she wanted to hide Sheryl's relation to Ranka/Mao. Hell at this point who knows, maybe Grace is Ranshe's sister, and is actually Sheryl's mother. Any number of possabilities exist at this point.

The recap episode only said that Sheryl was Fairy nr 9 or rather get rid of Fairy nr 9. Based on that every one assumed there were others. We don't know how far the others got. They could have tested 10-20 subject at the same time and Fairy nr 9 (Sheryl) was the only one that got succeeded. Or Grace could have decided that Sheryl was the best of the bunch and killed the other Fairies since they were not needed. Grace sure did (TRY) that after she discovered that Ranka was alive.

The reason for swapping out blood samples was that Sheryl could still be cured if it hadn't reached her brain. Told to Sheryl by Leon and Luca (I think it was episode 22).

You are right that we have no ide how things are without DNA tests.

  2. Crashing yours Sheryl has the rarre Alpha Bombay blood type the same blood type as the Protoculture Birdman and the Nome sisters.

Realy? I must have mist that part. Do you remember the episode it was said?

How about this wild nightmare. Grace gave Sheryls the earings like the letter said. Does that make Grace Sheryl's mother? "I am your mother. Noooo"

Never mind. Not even Grace is so cold that she would try to kill her own kid on Galia 4 after that Sheryl was no longer needed for her plan. The timing is wrong to. Grace and Sheryl didn't meet until after 117th fleet was destroyed according to records and Grace.

  3. yeah probably many if not all folks from M:Galaxy were tricked into implants to bind them to G.A.

The one last episode seems too rush for everything. We have the Battle Galaxy to appear, SMS Quarter to return to the scene, Leon is to be killed/captured for trial of murder, Grace needs to be killed but she dont die easily, mankind making peace with Vajra and Ranka, Brera to be killed or sacrificed to save Ranka and after making peace with Alto, Bilrer to meetup with this mysterious "person" and the explanation of his real motive behind all of these, conclusion to Luca and Nanase (she needs to wake up, and Luca needs to feel guilt and remorse i hope?), and of course Alto's choice between Ranka and Sheryl... not to mention we need time for the plot explanation, the battles between M:Frontier/SMS/M:Galaxy/Vajra rematch for Alto/Brera(?), and also to wrap up the series... Too much content to stuff in 20+ minutes!! Maybe Grace will not be destroyed at the end to pose as a permanent threat in a future series? She's hard to kill, and i dont think even destroying the whole of Battle Galaxy could kill her if she is well-prepared with several network backups in various places.

    BOMBA!!! B))

There is a chance that episode 25 isn't the last. Someone watching the original airing said that during the commercials a few weeks ago. Something about the last episode of Frontier is 16 October. He even pointed that out again then other people wondered where he got that info from. Besides they still haven't said how many episodes this series is supposed to be. Just a bunch of anime sites guessing wildly. Anime sites even said that Macross Frontier was only 13 episodes in the beginning.

I'm hopping for more episodes, OVAs or maybe even an other season even if that have never happened before.

  4. Can Grace be mindcontrolling the people i charge of Macross Galaxy (Captain etc) the same way she controls Brera and Ranka? Cyborg is supposed to be normal on Macross Galaxy right?

Just 2 people need to die to end the series. Grace and Leon. Then SMS can come in and enforce peace with a song duet between Sheryl and Ranka like in the intro (maybe another song). Hopefully we get another season or at leas OVAs that deals with Macross Galaxy and who is behind Grace in this war. But wouldn't that require another enemy?

  5. The transformation of battle 25 begins at 15:25 (same raw) just before Sheryls starts to Sing

I wonder if Battle Frontier manage to finish its transformation before epi.25 ending credits start rolling

Actually, u can see the Battle Frontier start to transform at about 15:26 after the valks and Q-Rea took off. Guess Leon was having a fun time pressing that transform button

You are right. So any better view of the transformation seem unlikely unless they go back in time a little in the next episode for a recap in the beginning or just forget that they started to transform the ship in the background in this episode.

  6. Do any of you think that we will see a clear view of Battle (25) Frontier do a full transformation?

In [Zero-Raws] Macross FRONTIER 24, Time 17.21. There you can see Ranka watching as Battle (25) Frontier in background is starting to transform. This is just before Brera appears behind Ranka and starts talking to her. I would rely want to see more than that.

  7. Interesting, can you take a screenshot of it? ^_^

Is it just me or this episode reminds me of Mospeada where the Mars base are attempting to free Earth? The Spiral zone (yeah, Spiral Zone, get it? lol) is similiar to the Invid Hive, and in the end the Mars fleet is swarmed and destroyed, just like Frontier.

This episode again has proven that Alto has failed as a man. Does he want to save Ranka or kill her? And what about Sheryll?

I was shocked. The second half of the episode was pure culture shock. I had no ide how the Zentradi felt until Ranka started. Deffinently reminds me of Macross 1 DYRL, Macross 2 and the first Macross series battle with Boldolsaa's fleet. Even after reading spoilers and predicting that it would be like this it was still shocking seeing that they went so far. Frontier is now the bad guys.

Frontier seemed to be as chocked as I was that the Varja (or rather Grace blaming it on the Varja) did that against us (Frontier). Felt like seeing Macross 1 DYRL with the story told from the Zentradi side and realizing that we are losing the same way we won in DYRL. I could feel people on Frontier thinking "How dare enemy use that song against us" after they tried to overcome the initial shock.

The thing with Alto reminded me of what happened in the first Macross series in the battle against Boldolsaa's fleet there the hero got hit with a missile swarm and still survived. I am sure Alto had an auto ejection system.

  8. Hmmmm, now that I've watched the subs, I wonder if Ranka and Sheryl are going to have a singing duel, Sheryl for SMS/NUNS, Ranka for the Vajra

I really hope so. They should have had them sing at the same time a lot more then they did so far in the series. I remember only two times. Not counting the intro.

It fells a little ironic that normally in Sci fi and anime we defend the earth from alien invaders and conquerors. And now Leon is making us into the bad guy who are trying to steal the Varja homeworld. I wonder if it will end like the end of space war 1 there we (Frontier) becomes like the Zentradi stranded on the Varja Homeworld living in an uneasy peace with the Varja (until Frontier have rebuilt and colonized the world)?

  9. I wonder how in blazes did Grace avoid being destroyed? Is she bulletproof or she got damaged and then self-repaired? Or she was just too damned fast for the soldiers? How she killed them? Stabbed them with her tentacles? Or she took one of their guns and shot them?

They had her in a very small space at point blank range...

I still can't figure out what the hell happened...

Did you miss what Brera did to Alto in episode 21 just before Ranka decided to leave Frontier? It's not very hard to evade for a cyborg. Riping, punching and breaking necks and bones. No weapon needed with that kind of speed and strength. Considering how close they were standing to each other grabing one soldier and using him as a shield or a living weapon can be done to.

  10. Is there a final word on how many episodes Frontier will run?

No, nothing from Japan. I think they want to keep it a secret. Macross have never followed the regular numbers of episodes. All we have is people assuming and panicking like they did before episode 13. For (6) weeks popular anime sites said no more then 13 episodes and look were we are now. I have seen anime sites make mistakes often then listing episodes before hand.

Great episode. Ranka wouldn't be worried about Sheryl taking Alto if she knew what Grace, Michael and Klan Klan knew. Alto should take both girls. Klan Klan making sure Michael staying by her side was fun. It looked more like a girl making sure her big brother didn't break his promise then a date to the people passing by so Michael is safe.

Is there another Varja Queen talking to Ranka in the beginning? It looked like Ranka's pet was orded to leave Ranka's bed after that voice asked her if she was lonely.

  11. Yes, yes, I remember this clearly (which is why I decided the nest was probably in the same place). The problem I'm grappling with is that the only egg layer we've seen to date looks like the Vajra queen from episode 13/14. While I obviously have no basis for this, I assumed the red combat types are sterile. Maybe that one carried an egg layer in when it penetrated the Frontier.

Or maybe it was there all along... funny how Frontier doesn't even know it was there when it broke out.

Also, what was with that weird eye-thingy from episode 12, the one that seemed to emit the jamming wave? Still haven't figured out what that was supposed to be. Guess it could have been a close-up on some Vajra thing.

    This is my theory:

Maybe it is like with the ants. The queen lay eggs and the workers take them to another place. The difference is that the Varja takes the eggs out of the big nest and make new smaller nest all over the place. We have seen a lot of small nest with red and yellow Varja quarding them in asteroids and shipwrecks. Macross Frontier calls them nests at least and we have seen eggs in those nest to. I also remember the president watching a map of the Varja concentration in the Macross Frontier area in episode 15.

  12. It must go even longer, by the newly established LAW OF MACROSS TV SERIES:

    SDF:M - 36 episodes (6x6)

    Macross 7 - 49 episodes (7x7)

Therefore, I decree that Macross Frontier MUST go to 64 episodes!

(Well, it'd be nice, wouldn't it...?)

Macross have rarely stuck to regular episode counts and nobody from japan have given us an official episode count for Macross Frontier. We can't trust those anime sites that list number of episodes for they are only guesing. For several week we could read 13 episodes for Macross Frontier. So if anybody asks Macross Frontier is only 13 episodes for that is what anime sites said before.

 Macross Frontier is only 13 episodes

 But We are on episode 18.

 That is a mistake. There is only going to be 13 episodes. Every one knows that. What anime sites is writing is aways 100% true

    Back on topic B))

The New Open was great. It had a Alice on Wonderland feel to it and a symbols and links to the story. We get so see Battle frontier (25) in it and I almost forgot the fitting music. Can we even trust the previews anymore? The episodes always seems to be better then the preview make us believe which isn't a bad thing. Good episode. Half was more story and character and half was battle action story. At least Sheryl still have friends among the SMS.

Yeah Macross Quarter firing makes sense. I always got the impression that the Macross main gun had a limited firring arc in ship mode. Battle 25 seemed to have improved it from earlier models. But still Macross Quarter shows that the firing arc is much better in robot mode and easier to turn and spray the battle filed.

  13. I was surprised that Ozma ejected his packs and Alto keep his. Alto normally seems to be the first to get rid of things that he thinks slow him down.

Maybe Michael didn't want Luca to see that he had spotted Luca. Michael probably wanted to see what Lucas was up to. It is more like Michael wanting to know what Luca has to hide. I don't think Luca normally goes into a limo with security guards then he is with his friends.

  14. I've seen all series of Macross. Actually, I've seen (and loved) everything Kawamori has done

You lose credibility points for referencing Robotech in a Macross board, you Mr. 4 posts

What I was asking is what meaning has the title if in the episode Ozma didn't kick the bucket. I was just assuming I missed it because I don't speak Japanese.

    FV

I assumed you was one of those Robotech people since all the spoiler tagged comment in the beginning had the answer to both your questions over and over and over and still you didn't understand. Your questions made it seem that you knew nothing of the Macross series.

I assumed you had only seen Robotech and tried to be extra helpful since you didn't understand any of the English comment made on this board. We are all (trying) to write in English here so you don't need to understand Japanese.

Just read almost any of the spoiler tagged comment on the first few pages you will see most of them answerers and talk about the subject. Don't be lazy. Some of us are doing there best to be polite here.

They tried to mislead the fans like they did episode 13 "Memory of Global". But they still made the episode that you didn't need to have prior knowledge to think that the tittle fit. It is a tittle with a double meaning depending on how much prior knowledge you have.

  15. On the downside, this episode maybe can't be appreciate enough without having seen the original series

By the way, someone knows why this episode is actually called Goodbye Sister? I missed that

Can't see the forest because all the trees is in the way huh?

I assume you are one of those who need to see the original series. Look for goodbye big brother (Pineapple Salad in Macross or Farewell, Big Brother in Robotech). Most of the spoiler tags on the first five page will tell you why.

This episode was much better then expected. Time and again he avoided death. The preview for it made me fear that it was going to be boring. I am positive.

  16. Lion has been confirmed as the new opening for 6-8 weeks now, it's the first track on the new single with Northern Cross being the second and NC was used this episode.

Maybe we haven't reached the half way mark yet. Many sites still seems to be guessing how many episodes this series actually is. It used to be listed as 13 episodes in the beginning and look were we are now. Have any macross serie had the standard number of episodes.

I have seen other series that had to few number of episodes listed until it was shown in the last listed episode that there were more episodes a week later.

I think they wanted us to fell this way about The Ranka Attack. I hate Basara (most of the time) but he wasn't wrong.

  17. I personally never liked the idea of the "transforming" NMC, but have come to accept it as it is. As a carrier with a big gun, I didn't see the necessity. However, Kawamori did and I found a way to appreciate it at least in cruiser mode.

The reasoning for the transforming aspect of the SDF as I understood it was to help facilitate easier maintenance of the Dimensional reactors and the twin boom cannons. It makes sense to me.

I realized one more reason to why they still use transforming Macross class ships if you remember seeing Macross Quarter in action. It is easier to aim, turn around and fire the main gun and other weapons. Also concentrates fire or spreed it out. The bigger the ship, the the more time you need to turn around to fire the right weapon. In Macross 7 it was called battle mode. Macross 7 Strongest Woman, Macross Frontier episode 7 (and 14 according to the previews) and even the first macross series there they fight the Dolzas main fleet can give you some idea what I mean.

  18. I don't even believe there is a proposed season 2 for Frontier... as much as we would all love it, it is still just 25 or 26 episodes as far as I know.

My impression is that we don't know how many episodes it is going to be and that sites are just guessing. First some sites guest 13. Then after a few episodes some changed it to 26. I think they are keeping it quiet on purpose so they can extend it like other long series or just to keep people interested.
