  1. Thats one of the pit falls of 20 year old anime and SciFi. nobody ever kept accurate drawings and plans back then (with the exception of a certain Californian based film producer), nowadays its part of the process. You know that there will be countless companies wanting action figure rights, and model companies wanting to build the ships and vehicles etc. Macross was not alone I Recall several instances of size changing in TF`s Bumblebee was always changing scale.

In the real world, modeling and toys you'll never have this problem as there are examples of the real items and nowadays cad drawings to build from, plus the Manufactures will sue if you don't get the representation of their product right.

i guess ur right there are no real life Variable Fighter manufacturers lol...

but maybe in the future we'll see something similar

  2. i must say that those pictures help put things in perspective!

and OMG that tomcat is really making the VF-1 look like a dwarf

still think about it what if Yamato ever made a 1/48 VF-0

    Happy Macross

  3. now that whe are at the size! question:

i heard that the 1/60 VF-0 Yamato Series is just as big as 1/48 VF-1 yamato series

i have some if not alot trouble comprehending that :huh::wacko:

if anyone have a answer to this or can brush away the claim...

    please doo!

  4. The standing figure does come with the model kit. If you don't buy one, you'll regret it! No polycaps, but good wholesome styrene goodness!

Milia is proportionate to the toy, she should stand about as high as the top of the knee. I guess the whole toy is off!? - MT

One would think that when they put so much effort into getting the "toy" be of high quality and looking good.. that they would atleast be sure to get the

sizes right.. cuz indeed the Q-rau is not that big compared to the millia models... if i remeber correctly millia should be slightly higher than the top

of the kness.. she is throughout most of what we see in the series...

what the size comparison is in the DYRL version i have no idea.. maybe thay got the Q-rau vs millia sizes there?!?

anyway the toys look so great on those pictures u have taken.. that i have to have atleast on set of millia and Q-rau..

the slightly taller millia whitout the helmet, is she awailable anywhere anymore?

    Happy macross

  5. To me, sizing is very clear:

The Yamato Miria size is totally wrong. In fact, its size is closer to 1/72 scale:

According with the "Macross Grafitti" book, Miria has 1.71 tall in Micron size, and 8.55 mts in Meltran size (this agree with 5x factor to calculate the zentran size from Micron human: 1.71 x 5 = 8.55 mts)

According with this formula, Miria in 1/72 should measures 11.87 cms (855/72=11.87)... Exactly the size of Yamato figure!!

Also, I have the Club-M 1/72 Q-Rau kit, and it comes with a Miria figure, and its size is the same, 12 cms.

I'm in travel out of my Country, but when I arrive to my home I'll take a pic to my 1/72 stuff, including the Moscato Regult & Soldier, and Yamato Miria figure, all together.

    Yes Please!

    that would be helpfull...

still sometimes i think the designers do not agree of what sizes the different things are...

f.ex. when ever a Zetradi is holding a human, u can just se head and feet of that human.. but when the Zentradi defectors

hold the Minn May doll, although she is very small.. still big enough for them to actually hold it in the arms!

when put to the drawing board.. for making models/kits i can see that they sometimes run into walls so to speak..

if they where to fit a action figure/doll into a f.ex. Q-Rau they have to make room inside it!

clearly seen in SDF-M when the Q-Rau is "sitting down" millia is almost just as tall.. that means her legs must go into the legs

of the Q-Rau some of the way..

    on another note!

why did they not continue to make the Q-Rau in the series?

it is clearly a "mean lean fighting machine" superior to the variable fighters unless they stomp into Maximilliam ofcause lol!

Happy macross to you all :)

"EDIT" then how the h*** can Kamjin be so big when riding a Monster??? "EDIT"

  6. Is E2046 a good vendor? Anyone had any experience with them?

hmm that site looks kinda overprized!

    US$81.82 for Tactical Pod Glaug

    http://www.e2046.com/product_info.php?products_id=6640

    which look axactly like the

1/100 Tactical Pod Glaug from HLJ which only costs US$12.31

    http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN953437

and many of the pictures there are bad, cant really see the details in some of the pictures!

allthough i really like to have the DYRL SDF-1 Cruiser mode non transformable they have dunno what size it is!

  7. sometimes i become confused about the sizes!

    whether it be 1/48 1/60 1/72 1/100 ect. ect.

if per say i have the 1/60 Q-Rau millia with Millia model also in 1/60,

and say i also have VF-1x in 1/60... so far so good

as i have understood from the series, movies and websites,

a Zentran or Meltlan or Zentradi is as big if not slightly bigger

than a VF-1x in batlloid mode..

if thats true then the millia model/doll should be as big as a VF-1x

then how big would the Q-rau be?

also then i dont se the size are quite right on the models we can buy from various sources?

or am i completely mistaken?

cuz Millia model is 12cm tall and the Q-Rau is alot bigger than her!

and of what i know the VF-xx in 1/60 is bigger than 12cm tall in Battloid mode!

    am i just stupid?

Anyway Happy Macross to you all!!!

  8. Arii 1/100 VF-1A and VF-1D

    Highly recommended kits

    The Good

Part fit is very good. Only one or two injector pin marks. The landing gear is reasonable for the scale. Assembly is very simple. I bought them because I read they were the best proportioned of the 1/100 fighters. They look good to me! Plenty of decals. The masking is reasonably complex.

    The Bad

The panel lines are fairly strong. That said, I rescribed most of them to emphasise parts involved in transformation. Cockpit detail is non-existant and pilots are not included. Canopy is quite thick. Vertical stabs don't have placement pins - so alignment is just via MkI eyeball. The instructions were lousy but most of us discard them anyway. Decal instructions only placed around half; the rest was just whatever looked ok. I still have lots left over.

    Extras

I added a few VHF/TACAN antennas to the dorsal spine and a few ECM/ESM bumps onto the vertical stabs.

The nose cannon (I think that's what they are) were drilled out, same goes for cannons (or whatever) next to the intakes.

Pilots to both aircraft, in nifty DYRL uniforms and electrical tape for seat harnesses.

Brake lines to undecarriage, made from fuse wire.

    1A

Added a pitot tube. It's half a staple super glued in. Next time, I'd spend more time blending it into the fuselage.

    1D

Dropped slats and flaps. This was fun. Happy enough for a first time but next go I'd like to make it a little neater.

    Thanks to:

    Valkyrie for supplying pilots

Berttt for also sending a conscript

    Grayson72 for the 1A colours

    maxwinamp for the 1D colours

...and best of all, I can update my avatar. Sweet.

WOW they look nice for the size!

i love the paint job on the Factory 1A one of my favored paint scemes

    good job!

now i have to get those too ^_^

  9. on a second thought... on the yamato transformable models: are the Verniers stickers or done like panel lines?

other than that i really hope that my Valkyrie arrives at my doorstep soon *crossed fingers*

  10. Nausica: With the yamato, check my customising thread for some tips, especially involving the canopy. Other than that, you need to use a dremel / rotary grinder on a few joints to get clearance for the paintwork. I've transformed mine maybe half a dozen times now and have minimal wear - mostly from my long fingernails. Remember to use a good clear coat (future!) to seal paintwork and decals, and again after weathering, then a flat coat and it'll be remarkably durable. I'd strongly advise against hand painting - use an airbrush, the plastic is fairly textured and will look odd if your paint finish isn't even.

    nice job on those winter!

ok i went ahead and copyed it all to hard drive, easy accesible that way....

i can tell before hand that this will take me a long time doing....

but then again ill have something to do:D

  11. thx u guys this helped me so much!!

no i just need HLJ to send it all to me xD could take some time lol!

    Happy Macross to you all!!

"EDIT" i think the P111-3 P111-4 and P111-5 are the best suited for my needs!

  12. They serve two purposes.

    1. As tie down chain connection points/

    2. As reaction control/maneuvering thrusters while operating in a vacuum.

hmm is it those that ppl call Vernier Thrusters then?

if so is it possible to get them seperately as bits from HJL or others source?

  13. 1/48 usually applies to Yamato toys. There's very few 1/48 models, the most common is the Club-M ultimate detail valk, which came with PE parts, but good luck finding one of those.

mmkay ill count on having a set of that in a 100 years then xD

  14. hi... well fore some time now (20years) i have been wondering what they are? (look at picture)

maybe i have been to ignorant to know or just not payed any attention!

they look like handles that u can turn to take off hatch or something?

    post-7048-1204934369_thumb.jpg

  15. ok i have been hearing alot lately the word PE or Photo etched...

nw what the h*** is it... i have tried search but didnt find the answer...

what difference does it make with PE comared to other models?
