  1. Give the guy a break...he's been put on the defensive by members here from the get-go just because of his screen name. Sheesh...I love MacrossWorld, but that's pretty shameful.

    Back to the topic...

My personal holy grail of macross would be a 1/3000th SDF-1...Takatoku, Matchbox...whatever. The cheaper the better, cuz all I wanna do is play with it :D

  2. the 1j does not come with heat shield, all others did I believe... although I would have to go look to be sure. I just remember the 1j didn't because when I won three different re-issues off ebay I wondered where the heat shield for the 1j was. Also took me a little while to realize the stickers/instructions were on the outside of the insert rather than on the inside

Your right. Only the first (VF-1J Hikaru) of the Re-Issue series did not come with a heatshield. All others after that did have one supplied.

One thing to note, the VF-1J Hikaru Re-Issue is the type that must have the canopy unscrewed from inside the landing gear bay to swap it out for the heatshiled. All others were just snap on type.

I won a Super Valkyrie VF-1S re-issue, with the fast packs and armor. Does this come with a heat shield? If it doesn't, does anyone make any or have any to sell?

  3. Does anyone know where I can get a black heat shield with the jolly roger for a 1/55 valk?

Is this for the Original Taka & bandai, or the Re-Issues?

the re-issues. i got one off of ebay, but i'm not sure if it comes with a heat shield or not.

  4. well, I saw the remake tonight and had mixed feelings. on the one hand, i liked how they portrayed the cylon attack on the colonies...especially with the images of the nuclear bombardment. it was very dark, and it made you feel (at least i did) the level of loss that was occurring. the space combat was very well done, IMO. i liked how they made the camera pan across the screen during the combat scenes. it was sorta jerky but it made it look sorta realistic, as if someone was videotaping it with a camcorder. but what i liked most about the space combat was the subdued sound. you could hear the weapons firing and the explosions, but overall the combat was quiet. it was a good effect, IMO. overall the special effects and visuals were very good.

what i didn't like about the show was the "hello i'm new in the scene - lets have sex!" thing going on. i didn't like that in battlestar galactica. it just didn't feel right. and the whole female starbuck thing. don't get me started. i'm not anti-feminism or anything like that...don't get me wrong. but what made starbuck great was the brotherhood and comraderie(sp?) between starbuck and apollo, along with his devil-may-care attitude. that relationship should remain unchanged if you're gonna slap on the name "battlestar galactica". if you want to explore that same comraderie and brotherhood between female and male warriors, make up a new female pilot. don't go fixing what aint broke.

  5. guns that i've admired:

    HK USP 40

    MP5

    M249

    M4

    guns that i've actually fired:

    M-16A2

    M-60

    Colt .45 (looked like a 1911)

i was in the Army for 4 years and got to fire the M-16 and M-60 for work/training. the .45 belonged to a friend of mine. that thing had some kick! out of those 3, the m-60 was the most fun! we fired it from a foxhole or from the prone position, with a bi-pod. the kick from that thing would push me back! it was just cool to fire...the steady thump-thump-thump-thump as it spit out tracers was just amazing...just like a movie! i'm glad i didn't have to carry it on a ruck march....its pretty heavy.

i'm actually thinkin of getting into airsoft to try and have some fun with guns! i want to get a tokyo mauri m733 commando carbine. anyone here do airsoft?

  6. my first valk was a jetfire transformer...i actually had two of them! my grandma sent me one for Christmas one year, then another one for Christmas the next year! sadly, i don't have either of them anymore....but now i have a yamato 1/60 VF-1A and a 1/48 VF-1S. I don't care much for the 1/60, but my 1/48 is awesome!

  7. good luck noriko...i live in virginia beach, va and i understand your fears.....they've already ordered a mandatory evacuation for everyone living near the beach....i'm scared my house is gonna get flooded! i hope things turn out okay.....looking at the satellite pictures of this storm makes me queasy!
