1. It had to happen eventually. After having to replace the BP8 3-4 times (thank you recasters), the hatch through which the head moves when transforming to Battroid needs replaced. One of the tabs which hold it closed (especially needed when mounting FAST Packs, even in Fighter) has worn itself into nonexistence. Anyone who has these from dead VF-1s (or has recast them; I'm not too picky about color as long as it's some form of white) please PM me with a quote.

More info: My VF-1 is one of the first-run Hikaru -1As, which I've since modified with a recast -1S head and Fulcy's head lasers. As mentioned, I've replaced the BP8 a few times, so installing the new hatch should be a breeze. It's not a show piece; I like playing with it. Would have bought a later-edition Hikaru -1S if I'd been able to find one recently; bought a -19 instead.

Thanks for the help.

2. I have an xbox, Im married, did indeed find a GF (Several vefore i got married in fact) and a VF-1 could beat an Xwing or a Cylon raider based on the transforming ability giving it more manouverability.

I'm not sure about VF-1 vs. X-wing, unless you're in atmosphere. VF-1 pulls, what, 10 Gs? In space, the X-wing does 3,700 (according to EGVV) The X-Wing has shields, which the Valk doesn't, and presumably heavier lasers. Plus the X-wing has acceleration compensators, which would allow it to pull more Gs in a turn than the Valk can. Best chance a (FAST-Pack equipped) Valk would have against an X-wing would be to let it get in behind him, then pop off a couple of aft-facing SRMs.

There are harder ones than that. a VF-1 vs a Gundam for example, I suspect the Gundam would win....

That would be a tough fight. As I understand it, all Gundams generate Minovsky particles, which blind both IR and Radar detection, leaving it a visual fight, and rendering most missile systems useless (and I don't think Valks carry laser-guided). Just what type of Gundam are we talking about here?

3. The biggest clash of all. VF-1 Valkyrie vs VF-1 Veritech. :p I forsee a bloodbath!

That's a toughie, considering the Veritech has a form of BCS (or so I understood). I think it would come down to the pilot.

Anyway, back to topic. Has anybody taken those measurements yet?

4. You ppl have way too much time on your hands. <_< Go buy an xbox or other game console to become a geek in your own private home. Better yet, you guys need to find a GF.:lol:B)) Better yet can you get one. ;):p^_^ Next thing you know someone will ask about a VF-1 vs Xwing or a veritech vs Xwing (yes I saw that idiotic post on Robotech.com.) or even better a Cylon raider vs the VF-1... Then again I got no room to talk to with my collection...

1. I have an Xbox already.

2. X-Wing for the win. Shields, heavier lasers, and much more acceleration. Plus the astromech to watch your six for you.

3. Larson raider or Moore raider?

5. Well this is a whole new level of Geeky....

Id laugh, except my first thoughts were how to pull this off, so who am i to judge?

My immediate thoughts are no. The 19 cant tuck its wings the way u descrie, especially not in flight, and neither can the 1. i dont know the body spans, but the ones that CAN more completely fold their wings (21 and 51) i think qould be too wide bodied anyway.

So while i say no, I loved the idea.

And u could always use the Supergate.....

I know the -19 can't tuck its wings the way a -1 can. In the picture I posted, the wings and wing roots are folded as in Battroid. This actually makes it a little wider along the fuselage, but compared to wings-extended...

As for the -1, I recognize you'd have to have it moving pretty quick to keep it in the air with body lift alone, but I thought I'd pointed that out already.

As for the Supergate, in that case might just as well send the Macross through. And the episode I mentioned was several years before the Ori and Supergates.

6. Wow... somebody's watching too much stargate... This question is almost as nerdy as the universal sci fi speculation of who would win... starwars or star trek?

In a fight, I'm not sure.

In a race, SW FTW. SW vessels have Trek vessels faded both sublight and FTL

I get these odd ideas at times. I'm still wondering if a Strike Valk could have made a difference on Hoth...

7. So, I'm sitting here, thinking about that one SG-1 episode where Teal'c flew a Goa'uld Death Glider through the Stargate, and wondering, "Can you do it with a Valk?"

Working from a picture of the 'Gate I got from Wikipedia, the aperture on the Gate is roughly 15.184 feet across (call it 15 ft 2 in). I need the help of MW'ers with 1/48 -1s and 1/60 -19s who have some form of measuring equipment. The major dimension is going to be width (not even going to bother working out how hard it would be to hit the 'Gate cleanly when you're tucking all your control surfaces away), so I'd like to know the width of the -1 and the -19 at their widest point, with their wings tucked. With the -1 it's easy, but I have a picture of what I mean for the -19.

Anyone wanting to submit VF-0, -11, or -21 data as well are welcome, but I mainly care about the -1 and -19.

Thanks.

8. I'm in kinda the same boat there. I've gone through at least 4 replacement BP-8s in the last 3 years (Gravity is not your VF-1's friend), but I have no drill and no skillz. Also, I can't handle the $20 lower limit, because I'm unbelievably cash-strapped. Is anyone else recasting these? (I asked Rohby, who used to do these, and he sent me a message back in Feb, but this is the first chance I've had the money).

9. So is this just to fit the 1D head Cap? I am using a 1S body for my conversion, so if i keep the 1S head (swap the 1D later) will everything still be cool for transfig? Will much look outta place?  ;)
Cap... there are also a few holes to be drilled; these are for the head/neck joint & the hatch that lets the head through upon transformation.

336734

Mechanically, the body of the 1S/J/A are identical; any of which can be converted to the 1D. The conversions cannot be done partially however. ALL the conversion components must be used, or the transformation sequence will not function/fit correctly.

336885

So the conversion he spoke of (-1D with a -1S head) can't be done? That was the whole reason I wanted the -1D kit.

10. Put me down for one please

I believe he started this new thread, since the old one was started so long ago - he wants to confirm how many people are actually interested in this project...

328336

Well, I'm still waiting for one. I'll still be looking for experts to merge the upgrade kit with the parts I've already purchased (I'm looking to convert my -A to a 2-seat -S, with an all-black paint job).

Edit: Given what I want it for, non-pigmented would probably be best.

11. I am not buying any of these for myself but would love the chance to work on one. If anyone wants to commission me to work on theirs just let me know.

I might commission you, how much would it cost for this?

Are there people out there who would take my -1A, install the -1D upgrade (most of it), add a -1S head (complete with Fulcy's improved head lasers, already purchased), and then give it a heavy-duty paint job in all black (matte or gloss doesn't matter to me)? Decals are optional (I actually play with my Valk from time to time, so I'm going more for stands-up-to-punishment rather than looks-hella-cool).
12. I'm looking for the front end of a 1/60 valk. I need the nose/fuselage and the chest/top of the fuselage. Any color or type will do.

Will consider buy or trade.

Anyone with a 1/60 that's damaged in other areas let me know!

Thanks,

Bill

You have a PM.

13. Well, a 1/48 TH is almost enough to make me want a second 1/48 (My current Hikaru -1A is going to be converted to either an -S or an S/D hybrid if the -1D conversion works out).

Yes, xstoys and KidK should finish their armor projects! So should irspiff (that was his name on the old board, I think it's just spiff now).

14. Really graham...i thought the fighter mode was the best mode for the VF-19A.

If not, which mode you think is best? The battroid mode leaves alot to be desired.....

I can't stand the fighter mode on the Yamato YF-19/VF-19A toys. The sculpt of the nose and canopy area especially is so ugly and inaccurate that it is a joke.

• Poorly sculpted hybrid sensors on the nose - those things are really a joke.
• Completely incorrect cannopy shape when veiwed from the side. Not only is the side profile of the canopy wrong (too short, hump in wrong place), but the bottom edge of the canopy is also totally wrong. The bottom edge of the canopy should be straight lines and angles, not all curvy! (just look at the lineart).
• Completely unnecessary trianglar gap where the nose folds. None of the other transforming YF/VF-19 toys & models (Bandai/SHE/LS/Retppu) have this gap. the nose of the Yamato YF19 would still fold even without this gap. I don't understand why they have it.
• Front landing gear which is still exposed even in the 'up' position, along with those ugly bumps where the front landing gear hinges, that really spoil the lines of the forward fuselage. this is the biggest sin.
• Wings too short and droop downwards.
• Ugly screw sockets on the wings.
• Shoulders sit far too high in fighter mode.

Out of all three modes my opinion is that Battroid is the least ugly.

Graham

And let's not forget that in Fighter the gunpod is positioned so as to blow off the lower front fuselage (including the fugly 'codpiece').

15. A 1D with a 1S head? There's plenty of people here that would do that for you as long as you're willing to pay the bill.

That would be fantastic! As long as the price is fairly reasonable (Hey, some of these people are masters of the art!) I would gladly ship my precious (and only) VF-1A to someone to have it customized. I'd probably have to send at least 4 of its hands for the paint job as well. (I bought TV hands from Rohby about a year ago, and greatly prefer them to the Yamato articulated hands) I still haven't got the S head put together (I've been waiting for my replacement BP8s to show up...don't ask).

I had thought about trying to get this conversion done in 1/60, but the parts are too hard to find. (Did Yamato scrap the 1/60 FAST pack conversion?)

16. will Neova or somebody else consider selling completed modified Valks?  I'd rather let someone else do the work than butcher my own Valk and destroy a sweet custom two-seat rig and try to conceal my poor craftsmanship with the world's worst paint job.  I'm just lookin' for a hypothetical rather than an agreement of some sort...

My question would be: Are there people out there who would take my -1A, install the -1D upgrade (most of it), add a -1S head (complete with Fulcy's improved head lasers, already purchased), and then give it a heavy-duty paint job in all black (matte or gloss doesn't matter to me)? Decals are optional (I actually play with my Valk from time to time, so I'm going more for stands-up-to-punishment rather than looks-hella-cool).

17. I may be able to offer Yamato 1/60 parts soon (end of the month) after I test a few things.

If you need 1/60 parts, you can post your requests here. Donors would be Yamato 1/60 VF-1S Valks.

Okay, here's my request.

I have a Super VF-1A Custom (1A head on a Super 1J). I need a backpack hinge and left shoulder joint (I lost my manual, so I don't have part numbers).

By 'backpack hinge', I mean the bar that connects the backpack to the fuselage. It's hinged at each end.

I broke the left shoulder joint at the piece that attaches it to the fuselage (it has a pin top and bottom to fit in a bracket on the fuselage; the bottom pin broke off).

Also, I am looking for a 1/60 1S head, OEM or recast. (I have 1 1/60 and 1 1/48; I'm trying to get them to match.)

EDIT: Thanks to TheLoneWolf, I now know the part numbers I need. I need parts BP5 and L-A3. Anyone with a donor 1/60 who can provide those, the help would be greatly appreciated.

18. a festivus miracle indeed! :p

added:

i was moving my super 1J a while back holding it by the legs. being that the toy is top heavy it toppled over and i tried to grab it before it hit the ground. i literally bobbled it higher than my head and dropped from 6' up or so then came crashing down. not a single broken piece, not even the tiniest of scratches....the 1/60s RAWK! B))

I wish I'd been that lucky. I'd had my 1J on my dresser one day, bumped the dresser, and it went off the back, landing on a solid concrete floor. The left shoulder joint and the backpack hinge broke. I have no clue about how to get them fixed (at least I can get recast BP8's from Rohby for my 1/48; I just placed an order for the second one [for the same Valk! :( ]).

19. Ah, yes, Airwolf's missile load...Hellfires, Mavericks, and Copperheads...which he used for air-to-air, air-to-ground, and I dimly recall him shooting down a nuclear missile once (it was in boost phase IIRC).

The problem being that neither Hellfire nor Maverick have air-to-air capability, and Copperhead isn't even a missile! (It's a laser-guided 155mm artillery round).

And I'm not even going to touch the whole helicopter-going-faster-than-Mach-1 angle...

At least Blue Thunder was mostly doable (though I can't see whisper mode being that good...or shotgun mikes located right under the main rotor picking up anything).

20. The real question is: How long after they released a Macross, before somebody painted one up in Minmay Guard scheme? :p

I suppose that'd be a question for Devin, who'd have to make the decals for it.

21. Oh, heck.

So, how much are we talking here?  I've ordered one of Rohby's heads (and a BP8, which I sorely need--Rohby, you da man!), so I might as well get it all spiffy at once...

Ok, I finally found a place online that sells the brass tubing I need - so I ordered, oh, about 32 feet of it! So that should be here within the next week. Pricing breaks down as follows:

$8 for the first set

$7 for the second set

$6 for each additional set

Prices include shipping in the US - add an extra $2 onto the overall order for priority mail shipping. There will be a limit - I'm thinking it'll be set at four sets - and then I'll complete the rest of your order after I've completed all other open orders. However, this is not to screw people over who want to order more than four sets. This pricing covers all laser sets you ever order from me - so if you order a total of 8 laser sets, you pay $8, $7, then $6 for each additional set - even though I'll be shipping the first four and the last four seperately...

EDIT: dumbass - I'm only selling the lasers, not the heads too, why would I say heads?!!?

Ok then. Put me down for one set (only the one Valk, you see), and could you please PM me a SnailMail address to send a money order to?

Jeez, I'm always buying body parts from Rohby, and guns from you...what must my mailman think of me? :D
