Didn't Kawamori originally write the story that was used for Macross Plus as a new series outside of the Macross universe, but when it wouldn't sell he made it a part of the Macross universe? I forget the details of this since it was a long time ago when it was last discussed on this forum.

The shame of all of this is the legal problems. From what I understand Macross doesn't do spectacularly well in Japan. The most profitable place to market Macross would be here in the states, but as tied up as the rights are I doubt that that could ever be possible.

Though it is best to think of it as a reunion tour. Fans always plead for bands like Jane's Addiction to get back together. The band is convinced to do this by an obscene pile of money, and then the music sucks because it seems contribed and forced, because it is. I am sure Kawamori feels the same way about macross.

You know what? This project has been talked forever, I am begining to doubt it will ever see the light of day, and if it does I will probably be too old to care. Actually I think I am already done caring.

Depends. Some shows are Licensed from the day they are created like Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex. and some times they wait untill the show is complete, sometimes the show will have to air in Japan for some time to prove popularity before they are licensed, and some shows are never licensed like Macross 7. so to answer in short there is no telling.

I think this is being looked at all wrong. take into to consideration the big picture. The Zentradi wiped out all of humanity except for the folks on the Macross, and the only reason The Macross survived was dumb luck, and a rebellion inside the ranks of the Zentradi.
