They did make the F-15 as a kit for a festival.

Attached is the AV-98 Ingram Disassemble instructions to fix the waist joint. I have a couple of them and 1 is slightly loose but not that bad. Would you mind taking a photo of your styrofoam container for both #1 and #2?
I think #2 has a different container and wanted to see what your's looks like

Let us know how it goes, is the yellowing really bad? Google says you can use Hydrogen peroxide, oxy laundry booster and some sunshine.. might work
Although you are not painting the whole thing, so might be easier to mask and paint..
