  1. YF-29 AND Frontier TV ending? I thought those two things were incompatible.

Serious nostalgia. I gotta admit when the Frontier music started playing I got kind of excited... Not sure why that one got me over the others. Guess I liked Frontier even more than I realized.

Also, is Mirage surprised at the Mylene reveal or am I misreading that scene? I know the whole Macross 7 incident was sort of covered up based on what we saw in FB7.

Seriously looking forward to seeing this one subbed. Interestingly, I just mentioned in the Mission 18 thread that I felt like it was time for me to watch all the previous episodes of Delta to get ready for the last few. I didn't mean for this recap to happen, I swear...

Kawamori sort of implied that both tv and movies were sort of in universe retellings of those events, which is actually an awesome idea in a way. Although in case of SDF and DYRL movie it was stated somewhere that main story is from the tv series, while the visuals are taken from DYRL as basis for future series, and then they throw in the Protoculture city on Earth as a thing in Delta.

Not so much surprised, she just named the sound force group being mentioned, and Berger added "ah, yes, your grandparents were the leaders of that Colony, and your aunt was a member."

To me it felt as if though Berger was fishing for any kind of information on Mikumo, which tells me that it was Xaos itself that found Mikumo in the first place, as any other side would've leaked information all over by now. The novelization also brings in one of Macross 30 characters as a head researcher, and the other girl in the main triangle there was Mina Forte, a protoculture girl woken up from stasis, in before Lady M is her.

I find it particularly amusing when Roid tells Keith how Hoina and Mikumo can't really sub for Heinz, because they don't have the Wind Song, I absolutely can't wait to see Roid's face when Mikumo belts out Aura Sala at full force, remember how Mikumo was humming it because it just kept coming back to her back in episode 6.

  2. Well I'm spending this morning waiting for my car at the tire shop so I can't stream/watch anything until later today. Could I have like a 5-word spoiler-free "categorization" of the episode? As in, is it mainly a:

    1. Mecha/battle ep.

    2. Other plot-advancing/politics ep.

    3. Characters/triangle ep.

    1. Yes

    2. Yes/Yes.

    3. Yes/Triangles?

hmmm interesting, did the MDE blast on winderemere also destroy mikumo ship (perhaps another "sigur valens")? so she was ejected to space and got amnesia ? if mikumo are the previous wind singer, why she doesn't have runes? or is it unnecessary for a wind singer to be windermerean? or perhaps she got her runes cut or blasted so she lost her physical abilities like other windermerean in exchange of longer lifespan :p by the way how old is she?

The chamber in which they found her looks like a ground based one, what with that water and horizontal layout, the scientists at least didn't look all evil and what not, probably from Xaos, considering where she is now.

Because she is protoculture and not one of Windermerians? Amnesia could be attributed to her spending insane amount of time in cold sleep, but being around familiar things her memories are being teased out slowly now. She is the original Wind Singer, while all following ones were genetically engineered windermerian loyal bloodline born, with extremely rare common windermerian ones, like Freyja. Her physical age is lower then 30, not counting some 400 thousand and the rest she spent in cold sleep.

I wonder if we will finally get that Windermerian legend about the first Wind Singer next episode, we only got the line about song of life and light of runes.

Hayate might finally get his 2nd personal VF now that he wrecked this one as well.

    @kuyaaids

That was the fold wave buffed state caused by his resonating fold wave singer, the same one Messer had in episode 10, not the regular or mind control induced Var. In fact, it looks as if though she quite literally throws herself at him to buff him even further, to the point her body back on the ruins was running on remote control while she was riding alongside Hayate

There is also the fact that Var Syndrome is the main mystery of Macross Delta, what it is, what causes it, how to stop it from occuring, how to calm it down, how to fully remove it, is it natural, is it something Protoculture embedded in genetic code of all uplifted races they tampered with in the galaxy for some purpose that they never got to finalize, we simply don't know yet.

  3. I was pretty much expecting the bombing to be a small emotional wrench for Hayate and Freyja, it also gave Hayate a new immediate goal, to find out what exactly happened with his dad.

The music player link should be unveiled soon, seriously wondering if it has any kind of message encripted on it by Wright, not to mention that fire, This will probably be unveiled through Hayate investigating the whole thing around his dad.

The resonating factor between Freyja and Hayate is getting stronger, in before he ends as her break dancing galactic peacemaker that wrecks weaponry across the galaxy while purging mind control and Var all over the place just with his dancing.

Bogue finds a few youngling pilots watching the Walkure concert, gets pissed until Reinas holo ends up in his face and he starts freaking out in panic, accidentally donating lots of coins, only for Reina holo to flip him off for trying to buy her out, including episode 8, this is 2 times he was frozen up over Reina, interesting. How would he react to Meltran Reina I wonder.

Should be mentioned Epsilon dude mentioned some newly modified Draken III units being brought to them, really wondering if this means Hayate will get a new Valk of his own soon, or if he will keep borrowing Messer's unit until the end.

  4. Hayate almost touched Freiya's rune! And she actually wanted him to this time! The sexual tension in that scene was off the charts.

    Cute song at the end.

    Mirage will have her moment.

Not almost, he actually does tap it, which then triggers his light blushing reaction when she just kept looking at him with that very to the point look.

It sounds like a finger tapping a palm lightly.

  5. To them Sky means all of space as they still think they are the center of the universe. Reclaiming their Sky started with planet then it became the cluster now the galaxy. This plan of theirs reeks of Macross Galaxy. Makes you wonder if they had a hand in this.

Actually, it's only Roid who is pushing this whole Galactic War against Earthlings, Keith is sort of following him, though he warned him that he would end him if he goes overboard, Heinz is pretty much just following their lead at this time.

Aside from younger trio of knights, everybody else went "wtf" at Roid declaring Galactic War, hell, Kassim sounded like he wanted to wring a neck or 2 when he heard that.

  6. I'm extremely annoyed that they dropped the whole angle of "Lady M talked to some mining corporations nearby and got them to pay us to re-take the cluster"

That's got pretty significant ramifications: our heroes get $$$ for bullets and fuel, but they're beholden to new bosses. What happens when/if they succeed? Do the mining corps own Ragna/other planets?

All of that happened OFF SCREEN and was just a remark they bombed in at the end

I would have loved to have the Lady M introduction/backstory here, while showing her negotiating with the mining corps

They better not frickin leave her identity an unresolved mystery

You sort of have to look at it from the corporate angle, they can't earn their money from mining if the sector is under the new establishment, so they are happily throwing money at the party that has the people eager to fight back and make it so they can go back to massive profit margins.

  7. Mirage is only part-Zentradi. We're not sure how much she inherited, genetically.

Regardless, why wasn't she helping turn it? It would have taken a moment to have the mag connectors bind so she could have braced herself.

Mirage would have the same problem he had on his own, they would both just float up due to busted artificial gravity, that's why he needed her to keep him anchored so he could exert force on the wheel.
