Yes, you have to pay up front to preorder this TWE
25 minutes ago, no3Ljm said:No, since it's TWE release. But yes in the future with astronomical price markup from third party sellers. Say, for example Kakizaki's DX VF-1A for Y144470.
And that is correct, any TWE item is always pay upfront.
Thanks very much for the replies! I have to wait until Friday to buy, so hopefully it's still available.

Does anyone know if this will be available on Amazon Japan? I have a 6900 yen credit in my account that I would love to use. If not I hope it's still available on AE come Friday. It's been a while since I ordered from AE. They are pay up front correct?

Awesome! I can't believe Bandai is actually doing a DX Angel Bird! I've come close to picking up the Yamato 1/48 over the years but never did due to all of the decals that would have to be applied to make the 'Birds look their best. I already have the Yamato VF-1J Stealth and DX VF-1S Roy - this was the only other 1/48 Valk that I really wanted.
-
My Roy has shipped from HLJ and I'll have it Wednesday!
-
Got charged by HLJ for Roy yesterday and just paid for DHL! Can't wait to see this next to my VF-1J Stealth. Out of all the VF-1S Valks that I've owned, this is my first 1/48.

Just got a notification from Mykombini requesting payment for Roy. Funny thing is I emailed a couple days ago to cancel. I got an automatic reply that they were closed until the 25th, so they probably didn't see that message yet. I was luckily able to snag one from HLJ at the end of July and was only keeping the first order just in case. Even though I lose the deposit from MK, it's still a lot cheaper from HLJ.

You got to put a deposit? I had to pay all up front.
Yeah, they only required a 20% deposit when I ordered.

357? I think you misspelled 44 there :P
Damn, you are absolutely correct. How the hell could I forget.? 44 magnum not 357. I guess it's been a while. Lol.

NY has TV Roy for 35k Yen. Too rich for my blood.
Yup. 357 is what Dirty Harry Callahan is packing, not the price I'm paying for a DX VF-1S.

I was up at 2 AM during the initial PO frenzy and struck out everywhere like most. I was content with waiting to pick it up at release but bit the bullet and put down the $57 deposit at Mykombini this morning just in case. I don't collect much in 1/48 but the VF-1S (Roy) is my favorite Valk and the one I was waiting for when the DX line started - plus it will look great with my Yamato 1/48 VF-1J Stealth.

Has there been a price mentioned?
Someone on another forum said it was going to be just south of 2 grand. Hopefully that's not in stone and it's less. 2000 would definitely be out of my comfort zone.

Wow, what a centerpiece that would make. Unfortunately don't know where I'd put it (that is, if it was even in my price range).

Looks like the 35th Anniversary VF-1S is sold out (for now) at HLJ.

I just saw this one here last night and ordered one at HLJ - really love the look. It'll fit in well with my other HMRs. I hope they get around to making an Angel Bird.

I'm in Chicago as well and got my Roy from HLJ using EMS. They sent me a payment request on a Friday afternoon and I had it in hand Monday morning (that was the fastest that I've ever gotten a package from Japan). I think it all depends on flight schedules and how quickly it clears customs etc... I've had items sitting in customs for a few days before.I went ahead and had hlj ship the Strike to me. It's been sitting there almost 30 days now. So how long does it generally take hlj to get your stuff to you?
I'm in Chicago, IL if that makes any difference.

Got my order for Milia in at N-Y. I don't mind paying up front, it's nice to have it out of the way. I've already got Hikaru and Max pre-paid at AE as well. Nothing to do now but relax and wait.

I got these a few weeks ago but the arrival of my Arcadia Focker VF-1S last week kind of stole their thunder a bit.
I was impressed with Tomytec's F-22 Raptor so I figured I'd give these a whirl. I'm most likely going to replace the Chara Works VF-1A with the Tomytec Focker in my 1/144 lineup.
I still can't believe the amount of detail Tomytec cramps into these tiny kits. -

The tint is more purplish than pink
The paint is impressive, so much better than if it was just shiny white plastic. In hand this feels like a professionally painted model. I noticed it does looks slightly purple when it's held up to the light.
Welcome to the boards and to the rabbit hole known as macross. Everyone should own at least one 1/60 VF-1 2.0 and you picked a great one to own.
Thanks! The Focker VF-1S is my favorite Valk and most iconic IMO.
forgot money pit! XD
glad to have you join us Crossbones, welcome to the boards.
Thanks for the welcome!
Welcome aboard sir. And congrats on your first (I'm sure it will not be your last. Count on it. This is just the beginning of your non-stop 1/60 VF-1 race. ) 1/60 VF-1's.
Thanks! If I do get any more 1/60's it will be some of the more obscure ones. I'd love to see Arcadia do a Low Vis or Angel Bird. Although I wouldn't mind a 1/100 Hi Metal-R Angel Bird either.

Back to the VF-1S. No time to fully remove it yet but so far I'm very impressed with the amount of tampo printing. Everything that I would have wanted printed on is there, right down to the warnings on the intakes.

Put in my order with AE since I've always gotten good service from them in the past.
