so I ordered one from a guy who sells them whom I had found on ebay.

he says he does all the subtitles professionally and others are copying his stuff. he needs to buy and pay for equipment and such so his prices are a higher. he also doesn't compress so therefore I would be getting more blu ray discs. it makes sense if there is no compression the quality should be better. I do have his cell phone number and we did talk for a bit which made me felt comfortable ordering from him. its not a 100% fool proof but I took a chance on it. he seemed pretty open about what he is selling and what he is doing. it wasn't like he was trying to hide what this is all about (bootlegging). personally I'm new to all this and thought that there was an American subtitled version of all these videos and that I haven't found any of them yet but your guys are verifying that's not the case. so with that I felt more comfortable about buying it now.

I decided I would just plunge into buying all of them and forgo doing small orders. the dyrl is like 40.00 and I thought I could get a deal with justthe whole thing if I bought all of it at once.

I ordred the Japanese version of macross (6 discs), dyrl (1 disc), flashback (2 discs), and two random movies (freebees, he just threw them in for fun).

he promised me that the images and sound are top notch because he and his team are doing it themselves. the task of adding the subtitle is a painstaking task to do all of it. which he used to justify the price he is asking.

I paid 175.00 shipped.

as a comparison, another ebay vendor is selling $100.00 for dyrl 1 disc and the macross show 4 discs.

I hope I got a deal but more importantly I hope the quality is one of the best that's available today. I don't mind the little bit of extra cost if its the best I can get my hands on.

I aslo read that there are scenes that were cut. can you guys direct me to where I can find it on the movie and what I'm looking for so I know if I got the uncut version as he said I would get.

I was there in april. the skytree didn't have a huge event or anything. its more like they stuck it in a corner and left the large display there.

if its not official does that mean the quality is lower?

so I haven't bought any dvd, blu ray, or cd's yet but I think that the medium that is available is pretty good now and complete. its so complete that there are so many different version of the same thing... I think??

what I am looking for is the original movie SDF-1 DYRL macross movie made in the 80's but in blu ray, remastered. ill take dvd if its more complete without too much loss on the quality. in addition I want to get maybe the music dvd of the movie in the set if there is as complete set that they may have sold once.

plus... I would like the tv Japanese show version (27+ episodes i think??), not the American Robotech remake but the one that was made and released in japan. I'm not sure there are subtitled versions of this or voice dub versions on blu ray/ dvd. again i prefer blu ray just because I feel it might remastered with higher quality. I'm not sure if there is any other benefit. is there a cd of music for this as well?

i have also seen some 30th anniversary sets but i don't know the differences between those and any others on sale.

I'm not looking for the cheapest but i don't want to be ripped off either.

so I searched on ebay and there are a few sellers but I don't know which ones to stay away from or which ones i should actually look for. I want the original copies and not someone making copies of the original and selling them back.
