  1. Some texture mapping is pretty convincing, I just don't think many of us are at that level yet. After all, we're quite amateur as far as the greater world is concerned.

The way you're doing must be harder... frame by frame.. geesh.

    :Dat

It's looks just as good (if not, better)than that Macross PS2 game! Or just as good as Macross Zero!

    (in texture)

    :D:D

  2. Those Valkyerie transformations are fantastic!! You could easily do something with that in Adobe after effects ! In the computer world.... I'm still pretty new as well !! I was trained in model minitures, costume design,SFX make-up and stop motion...... I had a taste of some 3-d studio "when it first came out" ( I had made a Regult standing in a city!) I didn't have the time to animate it though !!!

    :(

I have found it more fun to take photos of the models and toys and put them into motion !!

Wish I could work on some awesome T.V. comercials for Yamato or Bandai !!!

Again I must say your transformation composition is outstanding !!!

  3. So let me understand this correctly...... You guys are building these Valkyerie and SDF-1

as 100% CGI ? I like the smoothness of movement with CGI but texture mapping "in general"

with any CGI still looks CGI. I really like the CGI Valkyerie but the SDF-1 looks pretty digital.

(something with the colors didn't quite seem right)

Did you somehow scan the Yellow Submarine resin kit or was that built entirely in the computer?

I'm just curious.... what programs were used? I llike to explore other options in animating.

For me the easy way is to take a hole bunch of pictures from all angles of a model/toy ,cut them out in

adobe photoshop.....and animate them with adobe after effects.

Before I got after effects though......I did it one frame at a time.....it took FOREVER !!!

If you missed my other post here's a link to the shorts

    http://home.comcast.net/%7Ejpyre/movies/Meltrandiship001.mp4

The Zaku II Special forces one & and the Gatchaman (G-Force) were done the old way!!!

You guys have some pretty awesome work though !!!

  4. It's a project still in the works..... there will be more Meltrandi ships especially when you see

what they are really getting into. I still have to add the little background battles going on and a few

Queadluun-Rau destroying Regult are planned for the scene as well.

I just don't have that Queadluun-Rau toy yet. (alittle poor right now) So,that scene is on hold

until I can aquire one or two of those.

  5. Couldn't get my download to work either ! javascript:emoticon(':(')

How are you guys able to put up those shorts?

I just got done with that run scene.

Do I just click the browse button, find my file (that's under1000k),and click add reply?

  6. Has anyone here made stop motion (frame-by-frame) anime shorts of their models/toys ?

I am a independent special FX artist & digital film maker.....wanting to share some of my work.

I'm currently doing a Macross short with models, toys,& resin kits.....it's a long drawn out process

but so worth it in the end.

I currently have a couple of small stopmotion downloads at our little website.http://home.comcast.net/%7Ejpyre/

I should have a macross one up fairly soon. I just filmed an old Arrii Regult (battle pod) running.jumping,ect.

To see the raw test footage...send me an email

  7. I haven't seen anyones review on the PS2 Macross game....(not Robotech BattleCry)

This game is a "must have" for any Macross fan !! It's great !! Battle Cry can't even come close

to how great this game is ! I mean the detail, lighting, explosions, transformations, and game play

    is outstanding !!

You start out playing the original series episodes on the Prometheus missions once those are completed they let you choose the Armored 01 or is it ARMD 02 missions....anyway,they let you play Macross DYRL version with SDF-1 having the ARMD-01/02 for the arms. This puts you in the middle of "most" of the greatest battles from Macross.

As a 13 yr old kid in the 80's, I deamed of a great Macross game like this. Only thing that can be better would be: Seeing actual Zentrati people to shoot at (when you go aboard a ship),and a cockpit

would be nice to. But that's it ! Get this game ! You'll be glad you did !! I'm hooked!

NOW,I guess you want to know how to get around that dumb problem with import games "without"screwing up your PS2 with complex soddering and ruining your warranty by opening things up.

There is this great device somebody came up with called "the slide card"

All you have to do is remove the face of the tray on your PS2 ( only one small screw ),pop in a special disk (swap magic DVD) and your ready to kill mass amounts of Battle Pods (Regults) and become that ace mecha pilot you've always dreamed to be... here's a link to where I got my Slide Card.

    http://www.modchip.com/ps2/slidecard.htm

So to I give this game two Zentrati sized thumbs up !! So,get it....and throw away the aweful Robotech :Battlecry Game. It's a shame this one never made it over here. Oh welll...

Check out this Hikaru Ichicho Fan/Jet Racer Resin Kit !
