  1. Console/dash of that ship is smack on identical (except of HUD, but that is also situational/context specific and still very close to the 'original') to what we first saw, and I am incredibly impressed but not surprised at that attention to detail. That was a fun episode.

I did a screen cap if ppl are interested - but spoilers blah blah, honestly - why are you on this thread if you haven't seen it yet?

  2. Hey everyone! I'm back after a looooong hiatus from MW. I did a search for this guy's Kickstarter and didn't find anything, so I thought I'd provide a link as I think these toys are super cool and might be of interest to a lot of you here.

I've been following this guy for years and finally his Kickstarter went live, but with only 5 days left, doesn't look like he'll hit the goal - which would be a real shame cause this guy's enthusiasm, talent and design deserve to be recognised!!!

Check it out and support if it interests you! Figs are 1/35 scale with a lot of customization available + who doesn't like piloted mecha, right?

EDIT: Here's the link, duuur: Tecco Toys' AGE OF MECHA Kickstarter

  3. Thank you for the advice!  Does mandarake check contents or photograph for you to check the item?

Sorry to derail the thread - still can wait for new picks of the 21. I hope they can get more of the bell bottom look going and overall massage the proportions/ stance.  It deserves it!

yes! liked your head design as an alternative! please show it off as there's many new members on MW now.

Thank you! I'll have to dig up the render, or I could just post the shapeways sites - I did end up making more variations when the master file book came out.

Here is the page where you can see all the alternate designs; https://www.shapeways.com/shops/RPG?section=Macross+VF%2FYF+Upgrades&s=0

They print good and i test fitted them all successfully - they also come with 2 new face plates now; 710x528_16571265_9689357_1541113359.jpg

And the old original desing; https://www.shapeways.com/product/6NVH992MQ/vf-4c-g-k-old-custom-head-unit?optionId=41029965

If there is enough interest, I can go nack into the files and tweak them so they print as one piece or as few as possible to bring the price down marginally - alternatively, I could take orders to do a small run on a Form2 resin printer I have access to.

My Shapeways site is largely abandoned these days.

I'm thinking more of a freelance designer, where the price is agreed upfront.

I'm guessing low-thousands for the prototype. It need not be fully functional.

As a designer of a couple of 3rd part TFs myself and a few other toys, I don't know any other fellow designers who have charged by the hour - in my experience it is an agreed upon total.

How chunks of $$$ that get to you and by what stage is per the initial agreement. As you work with a client more, it gets easier and less negotiation.

This one is hardly line accurate either. Almost all of the official line art is drawn at a low perspective to give an impression of large size - and between that and the animation; there are plenty of liberties taken in the line art, official art and box art to animation.

And also, it is drawn repeatedly in the same way because it is a very un-dynamic design and can hardly strike a pose without some serious anime magic.

    Just my casual arm-chair-designer thoughts.

What gets me is that just ordering all three Coneheads at retail isn't even $20 more than pledging for them. It's hard NOT to say "just wait" at this point.

That's a really silly way to go about it. If everyone gets on that bandwagon, it won't get funded and no one will get them. Clearly that particular retailer went for the retailer retailer incentive, so they're supporting in the hope it'll get made.

They all share the same mold so it's likely just to show off display options.

Correct. Each tetra has in addition to the null rays, another weapon or option that is specific to them - energy blades, impact cannons and in not-TC's case, a set of rockets. The coneheads do not have the energy blade option, but a missile launcher in addition to the impact cannons. Just check out the images. Of course they are all interchangeable and also, not pictured - each weapon can be arm mounted OR hand held as a blaster.

I’m curious why Thundercracker appears to be different from SS and SW with the engines flipped up on his back.

    As advised above!
