  1. Got any more info. I'm sure I can find it for you.

    420325[/snapback]

The small version was about 4 inches long. The large verson came in a box that was roughly the same size of a Megazord.

The small one may have had a simpler transformation where you had to take off the wings and may have turned into legs.

I think it was the antagonist because it was shelved to a similar but white version.

I keep thinking bat or dragon even though I remember a delta shape. The hero looks like it's from Dragonar, but I don't see a black ship in Dragonar.

I remember that vehicle mode didn't look like an afterthought as you see in Gundam. This was a full transformation and not just a wing backpack or core fighter. Aside from Gundam X, it had a Gridman style to it.

I'm sorry if this info is vague.

  2. I must say that my interests in Japanese toys really took off when I took a trip to Thailand in 1995. It was my first introduction to so many of these imports. I also realized that sentai toys underwent many changes before being sent over to the US. Ah, the stories I could tell.

Anyway, there's this one particular toy that I found fascinating but can't remember anymore. I've been digging around Zinc Panic for a few months but have come up empty handed. And I don't see any links pointing to a dedicated mecha forum.

The toy came in two versions, a larger box and smaller and simpler transformation version. The alternate mode was shuttle-like, possibly delta shaped. The body was black and had purple fins. I think it had Eva-01 colors.

This was around 1995 but unlikely older than 1990. It had a Gundam X flavor.

Knowing the wealth of toys that are produced in Japan, it's possible that whole toy lines have flown under the radar of sites and collectors. A lot of collectors look for things before my time, and I in turn collect nostalgic things that might mean nothing to someone else. But you understand.

  3. I submit that only one detailed, Macross type, Supervision Army Gunboat design exists on paper. The blocky one seen in the first episode should be considered the TV series version.

However, various details on the damaged ship may show that a beefed up variant of the Alien Star Ship-1 exists. The engines are wider but do not seem to be rotated ninety degrees. There is an extended structure with long antennas between the engines. There is a detached piece which can't be seen in the underside drawing.

The model, if it is one, chooses to fuse the cannons, as well as the engines.

This proves that the Tou Salaam reconstruction is inaccurate.

  4. why would you put blacklight directly on your valks anyway? I say, try to keep your valks out of direct sunlight and have doubles of things kept in dark closets just in case.

Because having blacklight in a room is cool. And having a valk is neato. But then I wondered if having blacklight would be damaging to my cherished toys and posters.

  5. We've already seen macross planes in photorealistic shots.

I'm interested in seeing real planes made to resemble fictional ones.

To keep this from getting confusing, the pics are not of:

    Modified variants of Macross planes

    Other fictional planes

Here is a Sukhoi S-37 Berkut made to resemble the YF-19

    Large pic showing more detail

I've seen an F-23 painted to look like a YF-21 in a magazine before.

  6. While DYRL may or may not be considered canon, there is the underwater Protoculture city to consider. That would be the remnants of the Protoculture's visit to Earth. It wasn't explained why it sunk in the first place. If it was because of the Zentraedi, then there would be nothing left. Maybe they destroyed themselves. Or maybe they destroyed the technology so as not to be detected by the Zentraedi. It could have been a last ditch resort because there was no way to avoid or defeat the Zentraedi. Maybe the AFOS is intended to restrict human evolution, so they never develop technology, kinda like those towers do in Panzer Dragoon.

Why would the Protoculture speed up evolution of fish people when they had cloning machines?

  7. The Metal Siren has the only plausable cockpit mode change I've seen yet. It reclines in battroid mode and the arm and leg rests move with the pilot. And it has the interior space to do it.

When you saw Isamu try to punch Guld, his seat was angled 90 degrees down and he controlled the arm with a joystick.

  8. Other than it's the first Macross submarine we've ever seen?

Looks big. Any statistics on how big this is? (It might be a remodled Typhoon SSBN. Russia had very few of these in commition in the collapse of the soviet union.) If that's the case then who got a hold of the hull/ship and had it remodled? And how did they get the stealth technology (See below)...

Anyway from the overal look it appears stealthy and streamlined, somewhere along the lines of the 'projected future' of US Navy subs... (Streamlined conning tower & body). The only thing is that it lacks it's own underwater drones...

Does this thing have a hanger underneath the launch tubes or are the SVFs launched and loaded into the tubes?

    two cents.

    This submarine appeared before.
