I can see how someone would think the Jolly Roger is cheesy. The skull & crossbones motif has been so overused for so long that it is cheesy. I love it, but I'd never argue that it isn't cheesy.

Besides, Macross transcends just DYRL and SDFM TV. The franchise seems (for now) to be taking great care of building the idea that Macross is this vast continuity where characters and events matter - so all the new Macross: Frontier fans are sure to also eventually see DYRL and stuff.

I dunno - I agree it's a gamble - and you might by right GQ... but... if Macross is a cultural icon - then like Transformers in America - it won't die out any time soon and Yamato will have plenty to do.

Maybe Bandai will step up and make one if they continue the Macross kick for a couple years. Make it about the same size as the SOC Irongear. And include an Arcadia and Yamato that can be swapped onto the arms.

I hate it when someone outbids you some ridiculous amount that they shouldn't even have access to not to mention be able to spend on something that has sentimental value to you but is seen as a collectable by them.

Everything should be sorted by a filter so that you can state your reason for buying something. Maybe even drop down menus so you can say, "I want this collection of photos of old people because I think my grandparents may be in there" and that would give you precedence over someone who says, "I want this collection of photos of old people because I want to sell each photo individually to people whose grandparents may be in there" or "I am just a rich, selfish, foolish person and I want to own everything on ebay because my life is so empty I have to fill it with junk".

Has anyone figured this out? I can't seem to generate an ISO with the proper checksum. I'm following all the defaults with imgburn. Filesize is correct too.

That's a long story...and it's not terribly funny when you get right down to it.

Basically, in 1999, when Animeigo released the SDFM DVD set, there was a photo of one of the Animeigo guys holding up the box and some other people bowing down before it. Oh, and lightning was coming out of the box, filling the acolytes with pure, unedited Macross goodness.

Well, someone slapped a picture of Kawamori's head looking down over the whole thing (or maybe Kawamori was there in the original photo, but I don't think so) and being well pleased with the whole proceeding. So, thanks to that photo, he became The Holy Floating Head, which later, rather lamely, got turned into The Hoary Froating Head.

See? Not very funny.

But now you know.

However, I only watched the 1st few episodes before getting really turned off. Did it get better later?

And for the record, the original TV series is my fave.
