I'll give Starship Troopers props for the SFX work, miniatures and CG, and most of the designs and execution -- the massive capital ships really sell the idea that they're ponderous behemoths; but, in my view, the movie was almost all camp, excruciatingly bad, cringe worthy camp, and the social commentary was sophomoric and ham-fisted at best... Yes Mr. Verhoven, we get the Fascism allegory, no need to beat us over the head with it... Ultimately, ST committed the biggest sin any movie can perpetrate against me: it bored me to tears.
Taste in movies, or distaste for that matter, is a very personal thing, so I won't attempt to dissuade anyone from enjoying what they like; by the same token, if I think something is lame after I've given it one or more fair chances, no amount of explanation, parsing, pseudo-erudite analysis, or cajoling will change my opinion.

Fascism is one of the major complaints critics had against Robert Heinlein's novel. So it's no surprise that theme got carried over into the movie. Many of his novels, covered touchy subjects Stranger In A Strange Land comes to mind.

I'm going to pre-nominate Robotech Live Action Movie staring Taylor Lautner as Rick Hunter, Miley Cyrus as Lynn "Minmay" Matthews and Dwayne Johnson as Breetai.

I wonder if they will scale up Voltron so he can fight back to back with the SDF-1? Maybe have Roy give the princess a robotech horse Or spend a whole issue revolving around the space mice taking the keys to the Daedalus.

I think yamato/arcadia should do Mospeada way more than VOTOMs.
Yeah it might not make much money but they can make it a preorder web exclusive like the vf-4 project.
Who here would not buy a Legios with TREAD toy? You guys would be insane.
I think all the guys on robotech.com would go crazy for that. lol
Robotech was popular and represents a huge opportunity for yamato in the west despite maybe not being so great in japan. These are guys who would be in their 30s and have enough income to afford a high priced toy and depending on how cheap arcadia could do all the variants without much problem since they all look the same.
Even though this is a macross board and everyone hates robotech you have to admit if yamato/arcadia were to make a really good Legious w/TREAD they would be the only game in town and could have this market all to themselves while they wait for bandai to get tired of macross frontier.
For any unsold stock they can have robotech.com store buy it up, rebadge it as robotech toys, and sell as masterpiece collections. Yeah I know: it helps the enemy and all that. But this lowers some of the risk too.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Yes!!! I agree.... Yamato/Arcadia quality Mospeada line would be heaven on earth.

I grabbed the TV Roy and VF-1D last year. Re-releasing M&M would be really cool. Hopefully the dollar gets stronger to help lesson the sting of the price hike.

Those are really cool. I wish one of the model companies would make a bridge model complete with bridge bunnies.

I was planning on taking the wife to Japan this winter but after seeing this, I think a solo trip is in order.

The new robotech stuff is just too hard to watch. It feels cheap and the dialog is painful to watch. They even found a way to make boobs un-appealing.
