Yes, and yes it is. Although you may view my opinion as biased...
Seriously though, we've gotten some great feedback from fans on MG. Here are some postive reviews of MG DVDs 1&2:
Miami Guns DVD 1 Review - Anime Advanced DVD
Miami Guns DVD 1 Review - AnimeFringe
Miami Guns DVD 1 Review - Anime on DVD
Miami Guns DVD 2 Review - Anime on DVD
Miami Guns DVD 1 Review - DVD Vision Japan
Miami Guns DVD 2 Review - DVD Vision Japan
And for the sake of balance, AnimeJump turned in a 1 & 1/2 star review (ouch!):
Miami Guns DVD 1& 2 - AnimeJump Review
Give em a try.

Here's an interesting tidbit from our news page today:
The TA Group BBS has reported the first word of director Shoji Kawamori's latest anime project. Sousei no Aquarian (rough translation) will be a 52 episode futuristic combining robot mecha action series directed by Shoji Kawamori. The animation will be produced by Satelight Inc., the studio that animated the Kawamori directed anime series Chikyu Shoujo Arjuna and Macross Zero, and produced the Geneshaft and Heat Guy J anime TV series.

So they do after all, huh? It took me a bit to find one, but here is an image of one that indeed has the pylon:

is it just me or does that plane not look like a F-8 Crusader ?
It looks more like a A-7 Corsair the Fighter-Bomber version of the gunfighter because of its short body and distinctive wing pylons (I've yet to see a crusader with pylons like that they are usually scabbed onto the sides of the front )
Hmm... good eye! All the specs I see do indeed show no hardpoints on the F-8 wings. An animation mistake already? Without even seeing an episode?
Shin did fly a Crusader in the original. Maybe McCoy has rigged it up custom for him, eh? He did rig a few planes in odd ways in the manga. For instance, Shin's more powerful radar that could only be switched on for a minute or so before overloading the electronics.
Either way he didn't hang on to the Crusader long. Wonder how long it will last in this version of the story? Maybe we'll get to see him in the KFIR and Draken as well.

So here is some new info on the new Area 88 anime linked by our news page today. Ah, the F-8E Crusader... hella old school goodness!
"The first of 12 episodes of the new Area 88 TV series will premier on January 8th."

So this conversation came up in the office today while discussing the effects in Sci-Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica remake. I figured I'd pose this question to you guys as many of you are well versed in aerospace fun and factoids and hell, some of you even make a living in the business. Would a contrail form nicely behind a missile as it streaks along, or would it quickly dissipate in the vacuum of space? We see plenty of contrails in Macross with all those massive volleys flying about, so maybe this discussion has come up here before?
Thoughts, questions, complaints...?

Thanks!
They are actually the same thing. These both contain all four episodes of the first Dominion series. The top link is the newest version CPM has put out. They repacked it and lowered the retail price. The bottom link is the old version, now out of print. You can still find it from time to time. No difference between the actual discs that I'm aware of. Only package and price.

This was apparently referred to as an F-15 kai EAGLE-PLUS by Patlabor Movie 2 info I looked up. Guess it is just nice Patlabor fan Photoshop work. I'm pretty sure those were single-seaters in the movie though. Nice touch up job, but I think they got that part wrong.

www.globalsecurity.org is usually a great site to read up on things like this. Lots of interesting stuff here in general. Here is their run down on the JSDF:

Couldn't really find anything on this F-15. Japan's new F-2 is a remolding of the F-16. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/wor...d/japan/f-2.htm
Maybe this is a similar project?

Another anime creator who is a know Harry Potter fan is 'Digi Charat' artist Koge Donbo. She even did a few Harry Potter doujinshi books. http://www.kewlplaces.net/fanpics/RD/index.htm
There are even Harry Potter 'yaoi' doujinshi available in Japan as well... and those are just plain scary...

From the AN news page today:
According to the Natsume Goushin Ryu Dojo ( http://natsumemaya.terminus.net.au/news.htm ), the Japanese Comic Flapper Magazine has announced that Kaoru Shintani's classic military adventure story Area 88 will be revived for a new anime TV series next year. The Area 88 manga was first adapted into anime in a 1985-86 3 episode OAV series.

I read a review of it in Play magazine today. They gave it a C+. It looks like the other magazine reviews agree... http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/920716.asp
Kinda sucks, I was looking forward to this one. Looks like we should wait for a price drop on this one... or make it a rental. Too many potential A+ releases coming up (Halo 2, GTA: San Andreas, Metal Gear: Snake Eater) to blow 40 bucks on a C+.
