  1. New mobo is here. While it does have many fan connectors, they are kinda in weird locations IMHO, mostly concentrated down/forward. (I usually check that, must have forgot for this specific model variant) From googling, it seems that running a case fan off of the "CPU_OPT" header should be fine, and it was recommended that the rear fan use that one, so that it's "in sync" with the main CPU fan. (as otherwise I'm going to be running some long fan cables all around the case to make it work)

Anyone have any comments/experience with running case fans off a CPU_OPT spot? (seems the primary use for a CPU_OPT connector is to provide a second one for water-cooling setups etc)

On my Asus Z97-AR, the CPU_OPT header delivers a constant 12V. I use it to power the pump of my Corsair H75 cooler because the pump needs to run at a constant speed. The two radiator fans are then connected to the CPU_FAN header. So unless you want your case fan to run at a constant speed, it is best to connect your case fan to one of the four CHASIS_FAN headers that the motherboard has.

  2. Nice IS350 with X-Package!!! What year is it? I used to have a black '08 IS350 with the same X-Package until the twins came along. Then it was time to trade the IS in for a minivan because there was no way I could fit two car seats in the back of the IS. Argh, I miss my little toy. :(

I wish there were more distinct visual differences between the new Lotuses though. As they are right now, these cars look like they were just one car that was pushed and pulled in various dimensions.

  4. I've got a Robotech Changer Axoid (VF1-J) and Orbot (VF-1D) kit (1/72 scale) that I've had sitting on a shelf for a very long time. Since I'm looking at a month of free time waiting for school to start I figured that it was time to put them together, but discovered that I'm missing both instruction sheets. Oddly enough, VF1-J also included an extra bag with the weapons, metal landing gear, head, and cockpit. Since the VF-1D appears to come alternate parts to build a single seat variant, I'm thinking of building it as a second VF-1J and painting them as a Max and Millia set.

I'm wondering if anyone can point me to a scan of the instructions for these or the Imai originals that would build these?

    Thanks!

Ah-ha, my memory has not completely gone away with old age. Follow the below link for some scans of the Axoid instruction that I had way back when I was running the Valkyrie Factory website (some ten plus years ago). Enjoy. :D

  5. Hello All!

my first post is a request for help!

I picked up one of these kits from a model show and when I got home I realised it only had the front and back cover of the instructions

Does anyone know of an online resource for kit instructions or more specifically the Revell/Takara Dougram ones?

I've had a look myself but had no joy.

Thanks for any help you can give

    Steders, try this: www.menet.umn.edu/~ngo/condar

Sorry I don't have the original instruction anymore to get you a better scan.

  6. Hey guys and gals,

Just got a reply from HLJ concerning the VF-1J with armor pack:

Yamato's upcoming 1/48 VF-1J Hikaru w/ Armor Parts (YMT00074) is a double pack set that consists of 1/48 Armor Parts for VF-1 Valkyrie

    (YMT00040) and 1/48 VF-1J Hikaru (YMT00025)

Now, the interesting question is will it be a repeat of the TRU special with a (blue) box containing the original VF-1J and GBP boxes or a completely new packaging of the two toys together? :)

  7. Hi all,

I just saw the "1/48 VF-1J Hikaru w/ Armor Parts" listed in the pre-order section of HobbyLink Japan (www.hlj.com/product/YMT00074) and was wondering if anyone here has any info on it. Particularly, will it be a re-release of the Yamato 1/48 VF-1J Hikaru Type and the 1/48 GBP armor in two separate (original) boxes or will it be a repackaging of these two toys in one new box? Thanks for any information anyone can provide.

  8. Hey guys (and gals),

Just noticed that HLJ had posted a few pictures from the 2005 Shizuoka Hobby Show (my apology in advance if this is a repost). Of interest are the two pics of the 1/48 GBP armor set seen in these links:

    http://www3.hlj.com/shs05/scifi/pictures/IMG_6695.html

    http://www3.hlj.com/shs05/scifi/pictures/IMG_6742.html

Hmmmm, I wonder if the extra piece lying in the lower left corner of the second pic is the removable "crotch cover" for the long nose of the 1/48 Valk. :)

  9. Great customizing job, Pat! Say, when you get a chance, could you please post a close-up of the new hip connection without the groin cover? I am curious to see how the new ball joints are connected to the YF-19 and whether or not you made use of any of the original hip pieces. Thanks.

  10. Ok guys,

As promised, here are some side-by-side comparisons of the Takatoku VF-1J and the Bandai VF-1J. In all of the below pictures, the Taka Valk is on the left and the Bandai Valk is on the right.

First up, Taka Max vs. Bandai Max:

    vf-1j_max_01.gif

As seen in this picture, the Taka Max is somewhat lighter than the Bandai Max. Note the difference in the color of the elbows...

    vf-1j_max_02.gif

...and the color of the rear landing gear covers.

    vf-1j_max_03.gif

Next up, Taka Milia vs. Bandai Milia:

    vf-1j_milia_01.gif

D'oh! The Taka Milia is indeed lighter and brighter than the Bandai Milia. I must have been high on something when I said the just opposite on my page. Again, note the difference in the color of the elbows...

    vf-1j_milia_02.gif

...and the color of the rear landing gear covers.

    vf-1j_milia_03.gif

One more thing that I would like to point out is while the cockpit of the Taka Max and those of the Bandai Max and Milia are molded grey, the cockpit of the Taka Milia is molded red! I thought that this was a mistake with my Taka Milia but nope, Sephiroth's Taka Milia also has the red cockpit. Hmmm, I wonder why that is so.

  11. I have been following this thread with interest and the one question that I have for gamers in general--and "Big O" in particular considering his/her knowledge of the PS2--is with the PS2 flip top, will I still be able to use the cheat feature of such cheating devices as the Action Replay and the Codebreaker? Some of the postings in this thread said that the AR2 can be used in place of the Swap Magik as the boot disc but what about using it to...ahem, cheat in games? Won't the boot disc have to come to a complete stop before you can open the flip top and put in your import or back-up disc? I notice that when using an AR2, the disc appears to come to a stop after it is booted but not so with the Codebreaker (marked by the constant spinning of the motor). Does it mean that the Codebreaker cannot be used once the PS2 flip top is installed due to its inability to tell the PS2 to stop spinning the disc, which I assume that both the AR2 and the Swap Magik do? :(

On another question that is slight off-topic from the PS2 flip top: Is there a particular DVD format that one must use when backing up games? I know that we have DVD+R and DVD-R but which one will the PS2 read? Which one is preferrable?

Many thanks in advance for the answer(s) to my newbie questions. :)
