  1. yeah, they look great, but I've already got these kits. A new set of decals and paint scheme isn't worth my time, or money, especially now that I'm back in school.

Now, a new valk? That would make me lay down some money... especially for a VF-11B. Hear that Hasegawa? Especially for a Thunderbolt!

  2. Does anyone have the Pilot episode from a few years back that was animated by Madhouse (Ninja Scroll, Trigun)?

It was part of Cartoon Networks, viewer's choice contest of which pilot would be picked up as a series. It was called Lowbrow back then.

I remember seeing it (and voting for it), but I long since recorded over the tape....

Frankly, I love the show. Like it better than most of the Adult Swim fare.....

Anyone see the return of Magnanimous? The robot Elvis with boomstick and chainsaw was just too damn cool....

  3. #1- Xcom UFO defence. Just stunning. One of the greatest games ever, and I break it out once in awhile on my old 486 just to teach the etherals who is boss.

I was just about to list that one.

Too bad they didn't make a windows version...

Unless they did, and I missed it. <_<

The X-Com Collectors Edition (had X:UD, X:TFtD, and X:A) was windows enabled. I had to get a direct draw patch for XP, though.... 2K ran it fine....

You know the one thing I always wanted but never got? The ability to nail an alien with the butt of your weapon to dash it to the ground.... I always hated turning a corner and being face to face with a Muton, and there I was with a single plasma shot to try and get the bastard down....

TFtD wasn't as bad, as you had the thermal lances to help....

  4. Heh... long list. Maybe.

Shin Samurai Spirits (Samurai Shodown II)

    Soul Calibur II, et al.

    Street Fighter Alpha 2

    X-Com: UFO Defense

    X-Com: Terror From the Deep

    Civilization III

    Rogue Spear (LAN only, though)

    Final Fantasy 6, 7, 8, 10 (didn't like 9)

    Final Fantasy Tactics

    Disgaea

Star Wars: Battlefront (might wear off soon, though)

Tekken 3 (best of the lot, afaic)

    Rival Schools, Justice Gakuen 2

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time

    Klonoa: Door to Phantomile

Dragon's Lair I & II (got these on DVD now)

That's all I can think of now....

  5. As far as control goes, it really depends on the series you talk about.

For instance, I prefer the Samurai Spirits controls over the King of Fighters series. They move better, and aren't quite as stiff. I find that the characters are more intuitive to use and less involved in button mashing.

Likewise, I prefer the Vampire Saviour games over the Street Fighter games. The controls are virtually the same, but the Vampire Saviour games are a bit more forgiving, and you have some mad possibilities, but doesn't go into the combo craziness that you saw in Capcom vs. Marvel and the like.

If I could choose an all time favorite, I'd have to go with Soul Calibur II for ease of control and gameplay, but since Namco isn't an option, I'm going to have to go with the Samurai Spirits system from SNK, then Vampire Saviour, and then Street Fighter, preferably the Alpha 2 system.

    I haven't played SVC Chaos, so I can't vote from a non-biased position yet....

  6. I think after you build one of these from the list you should take another broad based poll on what other kits to build. There's so many choices out there. There was a whole thread on what other kits people would like to see. For example I'd love a VA-3 Invader in 1/72.

I agree. I know there's two kits I would absolutely love to see in 1/72... well, three, I guess.

    VF-5000

    VF-17S

    VF-11B

Since Hasegawa doesn't seem inclined to release any of them....
