  1. Ok, I seriously cannot beat the boss at the end of chapter 3. I feel like an absolute idiot. The thing continues to slaughter me. Any tips aside from SP attack when it glows blue?

    I get to the part where Rod and his squadmates show up, and then eventually get killed.

    It is a trickier boss. I found that taking a Valkyrie with reaction missiles really helps, as you can damage multiple horns/eggs at once. I also find that staying in fighter mode and making quick passes then flying out to turn around is pretty good for defense. Also make sure to use your SP attacks when it comes to a stop so it's easier to hit. While your SP goes off you can use the time to press select to give your wingmen orders, you can order them to SP too or activate their support powers.

  2. This thread is as good a place as any to ask. I've read that no Macross game will be localized for North America. Why is this, I assume it has something to do with licensing, either with respect to Harmony Gold or the dispute between who owns what of SDF Macross? Could the Japanese just include English subtitles and sell the game locally in Japan? Do they not do this because of the cost of the translation or some other reason?

  3. YF-21 Fastpacks are shared with the VF-22. YOu get them in a race in the 1st zone. It's a pain in the ass because you're going to double tap and boost yourself off the flight path and throw your controller out the window several times.

    You are correct (on both counts). This race is a dozy. Thanks for pointing it out though.

  4. I'm on my second playthrough and I'm doing a quest called Lost Treasure in which I'm supposed to get a picture of the Gaurdians/Dyaus. Thing is, do i find this picture or do i actually have to take it?

    My guess is either you find it as an item drop or you get it by killing a specific Dyaus at a specific point.

    Has anyone found the FAST packs for the VF-19 or VF-22? I'm in new game plus and I can't find them anywhere. I know some enemies have them, I hope players can get them too.

  5. Now that I've beaten the game I'm really curious what the plot was. Some of my questions are a bit spoilerish so I will hide them.

    Are the characters like Guld and Misa time travellers, clones, people from an alternate dimension or something else? I assume Ouroboros is something to do with the Protoculture, and that the project is the old man's attempt to harness their power? What happens after the game ends, will Guld and Misa do they go back to their own time and forget what has happened? Also are there any parts of this game that are supposed to be canon?

    Also, did it seem to anyone else that they where pairing up Guld and Grace O'Connor, or am I just imagining things?

  6. Just started my NG+ last night and was surprised that the completed races carry over. That's helpful because honestly who wants to have to do those again.? (not me)

    I gotta say though, the VF-30 (and even the 29 for that matter) is not what I'd call impressive. Both the 29 and the 30 just seem like half-hearted redesigns of the VF-25 with funky wings.

    The YF-30 has a different transformation but a similar look. The YF-29 does have largely the same transformation though. I appreciate that they included them, I think they look interesting in Fighter/Gerwalk mode, which is where I spend almost all my time so I appreciate the eye candy.

    I was just about to post the english dungeon names but you beat me too it. The english names that pop up are a bit different then the direct Japanese translations. I assume that is because the cave names are in engrish.

    I've include the on screen english names for all the dungeons and cities (that I've found) and their rough positions, hope it helps someone.

    Positions given relative to a clock face. For instance a dungeon at 4 O'Clock would be to the right and beneath the centre of the map

  8. Sometimes when you are doing a green mission it pays to check your inventory on the ship. Sometimes you can complete a quest with what you've picked up already. Other times you might have picked up the quest item but put it away by accident.

  9. I am currently stuck on a series of quests, the Ouroboros Research quests. I have been able to complete some of them, they put location markers on the overworld and it was a simple pick up. However I am stuck on missions 1,2,4. The translation guide for quest one says that the notes are at the World Tree on Yuria, however no marker shows up for me. I've searched around and I can't find them. Similarly quests 2 and 4 have me going to Ratatosk cave and Mimir cave but no markers and I can't find the notes. Has anyone else had this problem?

  10. There is no free battle mode or survival mode per se. You can fly around the maps getting into random battles. In some regions the enemies come in thick and fast so it's like survival mode, it can get difficult pretty quickly.

  11. I find the best use of the Super Move is to take out inconvenient Bandit ships. It took me an hour to remember I could do that, it really speeds up clearing them.

    On Gerwalk controls: Does anyone know how to lose altitude without changing modes? Sometimes you want to use terrain for cover or drop down to pick up a drop, but right now the only way I can do that is transform into battroid.

  12. Okay, for those all played the game, please talk about your dissatisfactions about it in here.

    Here comes mine.

    1. Why Roy Focker didn't featured in the game?

    He's an awesome Valk pilot! Why Artdink didn't put him in the game? Is it because Roy really dead? Or it will cause a "Time Paradox" if Roy in Zero and Roy in SDFM were both shows up in the Ouroburos event, just give us the SDFM's Roy, please!

    Originally I thought it could be a licensing thing. But Kamjin is in the game, I also this Misa may put in an appearance somewhere. So there are SDFM characters in the game. I have no idea why they wouldn't want to include Roy.

    2. What about the "Dark History" mechas?

    Where are the VF-4 Lightning III, VF-3000 Crusader, VF-5000 Star Mirage, VF-14 Vampire, VF-17 Nightmare, Fz-109 Elgerzorene, Az-130 Panzerzorene, FBz-99 Saubergeran, Feios Valkyrie and VA-3 Invader Valks? They don't included in the Valk family tree in the game!

    Is the DVD file capacity is not enough to fill in those mechas? Or those mechas are not remarkable in the Macross history?

    *Maybe VF-171 is considered as VF-17, but...

    I'm disappointed that I won't get a VF-4 or a VF-17. Especially since the VF-4 is in at least one of the PSP game.

    3. Dungeons are too small

    Well, cuz I haven't beat the game so that's all of my rant.

    This doesn't bother me, Having a small number of dungeons is novel, but having done 8+ in the first few chapters they have outstayed their welcome. They do give you a reason to use Battroid mode however.

  13. Hi gang, it's been long time since I've posted here. I have a kind of spotty memory, so I've got some questions about things in Macross Plus I might have forgotten. What exactly did Guld do to Myung before the trio went their separate ways? I remember in the flash back Guld attacks Myung and rips her shirt off, is there any more to that or is that it? I ask because some website said he rapes her, I don't remember them mentioning that, it would cast a very dark shadow on what I thought was a sympathetic character.

    Also, I don't want to stir up a hornet's nest but does the story ever answer who was the better pilot? I watched the OVA, I think there was a fight in the city, Isamu was winning until Guld does something off screen which sends Isamu to the hospital (I think). There was also the fight in Macross city, which kind of ended in a draw. Am I missing anything?

  14. I'm kind of new to modelling, at least seriously. I prefer to build my planes in an In-flight configuration, with gears up an a pilot. Problem is most kits don't come with a pilot figure, does anyone know a kit with 1/48 modern pilots.

    I checked HLJ, they have sets with around 12 figures but only 3 are modern pilots. Also does anyone know where I could get a variable kit, I've always wanted to build one of those.

  15. If you don't want to permanently attach the forarm armour I have a little trick that worked for me. Attach the armour, and hold it on (or else it would fall off) with one hand. This part is a little tricky, I used masking tap, and I wraped the whole arm and armour tightly, so it looks kind of like it was mummified. Once you have it on tight leave it for a day or there about and then unwrap. Mine are on tight enough that I can transform my banpresto and not have them fall off. Hope that can help anyone.
