  1. So, how long do people anticipate the shortage of consoles to last for the PS3? I didnt get my XBox 360 until april or may of this year, and they were pretty plentiful. I am wondering if I wait until the summer of next year to get a PS3 will be hard to find one, as the shortage might still be in effect, or there will be a plentiful supply.

    Twich

Unlike Microsoft, Sony is planning to ramp up production pretty quickly, churning out supposedly 2 million units by the end of the year and about one million per month after that.
  2. thats what i don't understand...

the green paint is in no way "real". no f-15's are painted like that. the green and red is 100% just as wrong as the tv or G1 paintjob.

the only thing the paintjob has done is make it less like the g1 figure while doing not a single thing to make the plane more real. there is nothing more realistic about the plane being a dark blue-green as opposed to light grey.

I mean can you really say that this green looks more realistic than the grey featured in either the cartoon or g1 figure??

If you painted a toy car red, would that make it fit in more as a real car than if you painted it in it's original purple and orange polka dot cartoon scheme, even though red isn't one of the factory options?
  3. And GREEN is just plain wrong for an F-15. I still 100% believe they ATTEMPTED to match an F-15E's color, but just royally F'd up. And did it so much, that even people who don't know what color an F-15E really should be, notice that it's way too green. It'd be like if Yamato's YF-19 comes out in a dark tan instead of pale tan---they were obviously going for the "right" color, they just screwed up. It's not even half realistic. F-15E grey is simple black+white. How hard is it to mix that?

Not very hard at all, which is why they obviously didn't screw it up and instead made a conscious decision to have it in the colour that it is. That, and the fact that both the hand painted proto and final production colours are the same.

I'm still waiting on that real life F-15 alien space robot so we can do that accuracy check.

  4. I'm just disappointed in the stress mark issue - that means stress marks will be even more visible on the darker plastic for what I really want (Thundercracker, or even Skywarp re-paint). If they make a G1- color SS, this won't be as much of an issue.

If only they used the same ABS that Yamato uses on their 1/48s. I've never seen a single stress mark on any of my valks - even on the BP8s for my CF and Stealth.

I've transformed mine more than a dozen times so far and haven't had any stress marks. I think most of them have been a result of poor/rushed assembly.
  5. Doesn't that kind of defeat the point? If you want a realistic overall dark grey F-15 fighter jet on your shelf, there are many companies willing to sell you pre-painted F-15 models for a whole lot less than an MP SS. And they look even BETTER in fighter mode. And are like 90% diecast if you care about materials. And you can get ones even bigger than MP SS.

PS--I'm annoyed about this "toy I'm not being forced to buy" because Thundercracker is my all-time fave TF. And there was (to me) an incredibly amazingly perfect, much larger/improved/new version of it coming out---then they utterly ruined it, and there'll never be another. I basically feel "cheated" out of what would have been my favorite transforming jet toy ever. It went from 'awesome' to 'crap'. I desperately wanted to buy it---the original mold, however.

If you want what you consider to be the perfect toy, buy some resin and learn how to sculpt. You'll never get it from a company putting out a mass produced item. Just look at how many resin and garage kit parts you can buy for the 15 million different Gundam models to make them more accurate.
  6. Does anyone has the "pre-production" comparison shots of SS? In other words, Pre-Kawamori, and post Kawamori?(if there is such thing of course)

    Thanks in advance.

Chowyunskinny posted them on page 5. The original mold is the one with the lighter background and the tailfins on the legs.

Here's another shot of the original, pre changes:

    IPB Image

There were some better jet mode pictures too, but I can't find them.

  7. I'll say I politely and completely disagree with all of your points. I think the earlier version of the mold had much better stomach, wing position, etc. I find it visually superior in EVERY way. I actually find the new version of the mold very top-heavy, and frankly almost feminine in appearance.

You must date some ugly women.

I'm glad I got mine. While I would've preferred an anime coloured version, I'd rather have this one in my hands now. It beats waiting for the following stars to come into alignment:

    1) Hasbro decides to actually release it. So far it's uncomfirmed, which means that it aint coming any time soon.

    2) They not only decide to release it, but they choose to do it in the correct colours. After all, they only said "original colours" at Botcon, not "original toy colours" or "original cartoon colours"

    3) They not only decide to release it in the right colours, but they also do it without any embellishments (cheesy battle damage, awesome!!!) or skimping on the wash for panel lines.

    4) Not only do they release it with the absolutely correct and unkiddified paintscheme, but they also don't butcher it for safety reasons.

Anything less than that and I wouldn't really want it, although most transfans would probably gobble it up. So for them I add one last requirement, the absolute dealbreaker for 90% of the TF community:

    5) It can't cost more than $40

  8. how poseable are these does anyone know? someone said the Mazinger ones cannot really move at all. is this true?

    chris

Not true. From memory the Maz has:

    Ankles

    Knees

    Hips

    Waist

    Neck

    Head

    Shoulders in three axis

    Bicep swivels

    Elbows

    Wrists

and the fingers on one set of hands.

I dunno what the getters will be like though.

  9. I agree with their pre-shipping time, it seems to have gotten longer and longer since Christmas, but I've never had a problem with the actual shipping speed. 75% of the things I get sent via EMS take 3 days from the day it ships to the day it arrives on my doorstep here in New Zealand, and nothing has ever taken longer than 5 days except when it's landed in this country during some kind of holiday. I've only ever had one package take longer than 14 days via SAL, everything else has taken about 8 days, so no real problems there either.

That pre-shipping time is irritating though. It used to be that something would come into stock and it would be processed and listed as having shipped by the following night, but these days it's taking up to a week for in stock items, and it's not worth the wait when I can get the same thing for the same price through ebay and have it shipped the following day.

  10. It seems pretty much right.

    10 CMS = 110g x 10 = 1100g base on HLJ

    http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?CMS65006

1 Valk Stand = 640g base on HLJ

    http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?YMT00033

Total weight before packaging is 1740g.

For that many items packaging will prob be at least 500g which will take the total weight over the 2kg mark where SAL will kill you. SAL is only worth it when it's below the 2kg mark.

Hobby Search shipping rates for SAL: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/dlv_cost/parcel.html

Sounds about right to me too. While I haven't ordered from them for a couple of months, I've never had any problems with Hobby Search before.

  11. Say Noel,

By any chance you saw any Big O series? I saw some pic posted on other site,.. and those figures look pretty nice, and I wonder if you know those figures are resin display item or new action figure? THX

    L,

    Do you mean these? http://www.maxfactory.jp/big_o.htm

Five have been announced: Big O, Big Duo, Big Fau, Archetype and Dorothy 1.

There are a couple of other pics on the main page.

  12. for as good as that motion tracker looks. "master replicas" makes a hell of alot of crap. their "lord of the rings" section contains only a 'sting' with a bright blue blade (ew) and a ring.

the shrek stuff i've seen in person and they are bleh at best. and their three links "aliens, predator, and Aliens vs Predator" all link to the same four items.

kinda weak. (but the motion tracker does look pretty high quality)

The LOTR stuff is supposed to be a gimick filled line because the proper replicas are already licensed elsewhere. Sting has a metallic looking blade that uses the same electroluminescent technology as their lightsabers to light up blue and the ring is on Saurons severed finger and has the enscription that appears out of nowhere when activated. There used to be a couple of items in the LOTR section but for some reason they've been cancelled.

That motion tracker is cool and I'd like to get it, but not for $400. Thankfully most MR stuff can be had for a lot cheaper if you shop around.

  13. I don't what this is but it looks it could pass of as a megazone 23 garland kinda. The other one looks way more decent than the neon blue effect.

They're from Amdriver. The two in suit form are the Edge Visor and Air Visor, I'm not sure what the vehicle one in the first pic is called.

  14. Ah those visionaries

yeah that series had potential,...bute were there ever any toys made for it

Yep. There were 8 individual carded figures and 4 vehicles, each with it's own driver. The carded figs were basically just like GI Joe, but each had an animal totem hologram on their chest, a weapon, helmet, and holographic power staff. The vehicles all had to be assembled just like the old Joe toys, and they had large holograms that represented various powers. The drivers came with the animal totem hologram, helmet and weapon, but no staff.
