Newtype spoilers, ep. 43-46 (not confirmed yet. I'll retract them if they turn out to be false)

PHASE-45 "Revolutionary Overture"

In order to stop Requiem from firing a second time, ZAFT troops begin attacking the beam's first relay point... While the Minerva hurries to the point of confluence, the order to have a surprise attack on Requiem itself reaches them.

PHASE-46

Lacus & co walk through streets of the free lunar city Copernicus... Then a message of Meer seeking help reaches them.

Comments:

A few other translations of ep. 45 indicate that ZAFT forces are to perform a suicide run if necessary to destroy Requiem. I'm guessing this is the colony laser equivilent from Zeta. There are a few reports that Requiem is guarded by a few Destroys and I'm sure the bulk of EA's forces are now guarding Requiem.

About ep. 46, how would Meer know how to contact AA/Eternal? In any case, she's got nowhere to run to since Lacus comes on TV with Cagalli in Ep. 44. Dullindal has no more use of her.

More than one PLANT, half of them being blasted would be nice. The casualty count for this series seem to be a bit low. Time to jack up those numbers.

As for the BS about sparing your opponent to show that you pwned them. I've never heard such ridiculous nonsense in my life. Kira's goal is to minimize casualties. Shinn is a casualty generating machine with his Destiny, as Kira has previously seen. So, it would be logical for Kira to spare Shinn by cutting up Destiny but leaving him alive but crippled. (or take it to the extreme, kill Shinn to save more lives later) That would be pwning him, like he did with Saviour and Athrun.

The very fact that Shinn's Destiny was more or less untouched meant that Kira couldn't possibly pwn him at that point. So, don't get carried away with the Kira pwning... cause at this point, he doesn't. At least, not with respect to Shinn. If just getting rid of that sword is Kira's idea of pwning, then it just shows that he is a complete moron.

Considering Kira caught Shinn with his pants down and his hand in the cookie jar by yanking his anti-ship sword away and having Destiny in the line of fire of both the chest cannon and the railguns, I call that a pwning.

That Kira chose not to kill Shinn right there and then is a plot point. Kira could have easily killed him, and Shinn recognized that. Go watch the episode again, note what Shinn said immediately afterwards. It's indisputable.

Kira got spanked by Shinn earlier. This time, Kira did all the spanking.

Destiny's been a horrible waste though, the first seven episodes were great, but everything thereafter has been downhill, now comes the hasty hasty wrapup. Uggg. I blame Fukuda.

Yeah... ok, you keep thinking that.

Kira pwned Shinn, say it enough, and you'll even believe it. Saying Kira gave Shinn a chance to go back and rearm and come back and fight some more just mean one of two things:

1. Kira doesn't have what it takes to take Shinn down (see Saviour, Gaia, Abyss, Chaos for example of how to properly pwn)

or

2. Kira is an idiot, and let Shinn go back, rearm, and come back possibly to kill other people or even beat him.

Saying it's a plot point is just bad. That's like saying Shinn beating Kira was just a plot point, Fukuda made Kira throw the fight. Agreed on the horrible pacing on the series. We'll see about the last few episodes.

Is it just me or do you like to bash everyone in Gundam Seed but Shinn, Every other Charactor to you were consider idiots, morons, bitches, gays, etc. But with all those name calling I guess you forgot the meaning of getting "Pwned". It's not just about getting destory, kill, crippled or chopped up. You are consider "Pwned" when your enemy is in charge of weather you live of die. Kira clearly had that option of killing Shinn on ep 42,, even Shinn knows it. That is the very definition of getting "PWNED"

Kira had that option open to him while Shinn never did. No one said just getting rid of Shinn Sword is consider Pwning.

Here's a example:

"an enemy sniper that you are trying to Kill has his scope crosshair focused on you, and got you with a head shot from his Airsoft Sniper rifle instead of using his real sniper rifle because he don't really want to kill you." You may say whatever you want, and sure enough you only got a small dot of pain, but for that brief moment, you got PWNED and you know it.

Even with Kira's "gotcha" moment he still showed that he still managed to show a moment of stupidity. Yeah, he made a point, but it would have been a better point if he just blasted Destiny in half. Shinn took Kira down once, and was caught surprised this time, which likely won't happen again. Shinn can adapt, and after the "gotcha" fought Freedom evenly. Shinn also wasn't in Seed mode until Kira pissed him off again. Kira will never have as clear a shot at Destiny again. Shinn knew he made a mistake. Kira learned nothing from being impaled by Shinn. Shinn is not going to stop unless he is stuck down hard.

So IMO Kira gets a wash. Point for the "gotcha" but point revoked for not following through when he had the chance.

Shinn's going to continue to be a problem, but from the next episode preview it looks like Rey will take over anyway. Justice was shown approching Destiny so those two will start their skirmish.

It still looked like Destiny has a manuverability edge on Freedom, Shinn seemed to be moving a lot more than Freedom.

The Doms were awesome. The beam shields were perfect for their attack. I like the beam/bazooka hybrid too.

That's one of the many things that bugs me about Destiny. In Seed, while he disabled grunts a plenty, if there was a honest to God threat facing him, Kira would go for the kill. When he faced our favorite trio of druggies, you never heard any nonsense about him aiming for the head or arm. He was going for the center of mass shots and trying to destroy them. And of course, there was his battle against Raww. Destiny Kira would try to disable and capture him or some poo, Seed Kira ran his ass through. Even against Destroy, Kira wasn't trying to kill Stellar. He was actually saving Shinn's worthless life and disabling the cannons.

In short, the writers apparently decided that Cagali's stupidity was genetic, and made Kira a fool as well. And since they also decided that character development is too hard, and Shinn should just become Anakin Skywalker, the writers should be sacked.

I think the scene would have went better had Kira actually gone for the kill against Destiny, the chest cannon powering up, with Shinn realizing the danger, hits his Seed mode, drops the sword and barely manages to dodge the blast. That way, Kira is shown to be taking Shinn seriously, and Shinn still gets to show off his skills.

Man, we need another recap episode now. From Arthur's point of view, where he reveals his ultra secret plans as the real villian. That kind of utter nonsense would justify the show.

Okay gents, settle down. We don't need anybody calling fanboyism on anybody else.

It still looked like Destiny has a manuverability edge on Freedom, Shinn seemed to be moving a lot more than Freedom.

Not really. Destiny has the speed but Freedom has the manueverability. But Freedom has always had manueverability, I mean in both versions. Either way, it's a good match.

Man, we need another recap episode now. From Arthur's point of view, where he reveals his ultra secret plans as the real villian. That kind of utter nonsense would justify the show.

Sorry, no more recap episodes. :) It appears we only have 8 more episodes to go (unless it switches to the 5PM timeslot permanently). :p

The following is a mix from Bonbon and Animage (could be Animedia, still checking) magazines. I'm guessing some people have gotten this month's editions early since they don't seem to contridict the spoilers from Newtype (BTW, all of those month's magazines go on sale this week, I think). Thanks to the translators at AnimeSuki for this. I will retract if these are false, but they do seem to fit with what's been posted.

Animage

Phase-43

After their violent battle with Shinn & co ends, Kira & Athrun return. Then Djibril slipping out of their grasp causes Dullindal to ponder his next plans. The attention throughout the world is focused on Dullindal, and Cagalli's message begins broadcasting.

Phase-44

Cagalli's broadcast shakens Shinn's trust of Dullindal, but with the clever words of Rey, he is once again determined to chase down the Archangel.

Phase-45

With the abrupt attack on PLANT, the battle between the EA and ZAFT at once intensify to an extreme. Then, in this intense circumstance, Shinn & co commence a surprise attack on LOGOS. Kira & Athrun feel impatient watching such a situation...

BonBon

Phase 43 - "Voice of Opposition"

In Infinite Justice a weakened Athrun enters the hard battle between Kira fighting Destiny and Legend!

Phase 44 - "The Two Lacus"

Finally the real Lacus makes an apperance before the public. The appearance of two Lacus causes a great disturbance in the peoples' hearts.

Phase 45 -  "Revolution's Overture"

Djbriel activates his ultimate weapon! The Minerva crew stand up in this crisis to protect PLANT from annihilation!!

Phase 46 - "Song of Truth"

Having defeated the earth forces, and steadily getting the world in his grasp, chairman Dullandal finally moves to supress the Archangel!?

Various story notes:

In ep 43, when Shinn finds out Athrun's alive and goes a bit strange, it seems he actually attacks Orb itself. Not only that, but Rey encorages him to keep it up. So Shinn really does come full-circle. No wonder Athrun goes full power. Meanwhile, it looks like other ZAFT ships help the Minerva to attack the Archangel and the Sky Grasper gets hit by some enemy fire - later "Neo" tells Murrue that he still thinks of himself as being Neo but Mwu's feelings are starting to come through. Looks like Neo gets a Mwu video flashback when in the Sky Grasper. Djbriel escapes in a shuttle, using the mass driver, despite Lunamaria in Impulse and some Murasame going after it. From the sounds of things, the IJ/Destiny and SF/Legend battles are still going on at the time. Kira also gets a glimpse of Raww/Providence's style when fighting Rey/Legend.

In ep 44, Lacus appears with Cagalli (who is now in full charge of Orb), to denounce Meer etc. Her appearance surprises both Meer and Gilbert. People around the world start to doubt Gilbert. Everyone on Minerva is also surprised, but Rey (again) manipulates Shinn into deciding that Archangel are the bad guys and must be attacked. Meanwhile, Djbriel goes to lurk at the moon while preparing to use Requiem. Is the main part of this super-weapon near the moon then? (in orbit around the moon perhaps?). From the sounds of things, the first shot does hit PLANT (how badly, no idea). Minerva then heads into space. Kira and co gather on the Archangel for something.

In ep 45, as ZAFT attacks the main relay point for Requiem, Minerva heads to attack the main part, but they face Destroys again. Athrun and Kira are following what's going on and seem impatient - maybe they decide to head out themselves, since they'd be faster than Archangel.

For ep 46,  the title is "Song of Truth".

Comments:

-I think Eternal is gonna wait for AA at the Moon. This is probably why AA heads to the Moon in episode 46.

-Most of the notes concerning Requiem inidicate that it does hit a PLANT. This sparks the retaliation strike by ZAFT in Episode 45.

-Seems like Shinn will attack the Jedi Temp..I mean Orb, next week. This forces Obi..sorry, I mean Athrun's hand. And it sounds like the proper pwning will come from Athrun. If Destiny loses 2 legs and a arm or heck 3 limbs cut in a semi-circle slash....I'd be ROFLMAO soooo bad.

-I'm glad they decided to play the Neo/Mu character like that. I don't want him to gain back his memory. It does add something to the Murrue x Mu/Neo relationship. That she did lose something with Mu that she can never get back. Even if Neo is a second chance, she still lost something with Mu.

-It seems EA will finally be handed their defeat in Ep. 45, but it appears they take a PLANT with them. Oh well.

-Legend vs. Freedom...You know it's kinda weird. In the EU of Star Wars, the Emperor keeps cloning himself to come back and haunt Luke....Hopefully now we can get a proper Newtype fight. But I would like Neo get the assist on the kill. Only seems fair for Mu/Neo to haunt Le Crueset's steps one more time.

Edit: Bonbon has been confirmed.

Edit: Yzak's Gouf and Dearka's Zaku colors.

At that range, a shot from the belly gun would of done more then just blow Destiny in half... also, ZAFT's Gundams still have the cockpit in the middle of the abdomen, not the top of the chest, so it's quite likely Kira would of killed Shinn.. not something he was willing to do.

Kira's intention in that fight was, from my perceptions, to keep Shinn/Destiny busy so that Cagalli could get away. Making it quite clear he's dealing with not only the revived Freedom, but its 'ghost' of a pilot is one hell of a way to make sure that Shinn's attention was on him, and not McBling Gundam.

While yes, rationally it is better for Kira to have killed Shinn on the spot (and as anti-climactic as it would of been, it'd of been nice to see. Would show that Heine isn't alone in the "Badass ace pilot making stupid n00b mistakes" department) I think it's been shown quite well by now that Kira is not entirely rational and goes to great pains not to kill someone if its avoidable. He made every effort he could to find a way of simply disabling the Destroy unit Stellar was piloting until it became obvious that one, he wouldn't be able to, and two, that Shinn's stupid ass was was too busy going "OMG TEH STELLARZ :D" to notice he was about to get vaporized.. Hell, even with the underpowered (relatively) Strike he was still shooting only to wound while defending the Eternal.

At this point, Neo/Mwu will hopefully not die again. But if he does, they need to make sure Ramius goes with him. The rush to finish the show is a little more obvious now, not so much development between successive plots and superweapons. It seems like the new EA superweapon will debut in one episode and die in the next episode. Sounds familiar. I'm curious to see where Shinn will finally end up. I can accept if he becomes the final boss before Dullindal, but at this point, one of the two other leads need to die. I think Athrun should fulfill that role. Given how many times he switched sides, it's time to put him out of his misery. Besides, one more red gundam need to go KABOOM. :D

If anything, I think Shinn is going to go the way of Camille. The allusions to Zeta Gundam in the opening make me pretty certain that Shinn will probably die, most likely in a heroic self-sacrifice at the very end when he realizes that Rey and Dullindal were manipulating him.

I think Luna is going to go at a minimum. The Black Trinity and Rey are very likely to die as well by the end. Shinn, I'm not sure. Still a chance for him to come back to the light though with a big act of redemption. Athrun will probably have something to do with that. I don't really think they'll kill Athrun either.

They've been pretty lenient as far as killing off characters. So far, there has been only a paltry four deaths. Assuming you count in Heine, and the three druggies as important. It's time to splurge again. Given that there is not going to be another seed series immediately, it wouldn't be bad to be very dramatic all of a sudden and kill off a whole bunch of characters in a short time frame.

If they kill off Luna, Rey, Shinn, Talia, Meer, and Gilbert, I believe that would account for most of the new cast. I'm pretty sure, Rey, and Gilbert will go. Odds for Meer is pretty good too, can't have two Lacus, so tragic death there. Shinn and Luna are toss ups, but if they die, so be it. No, I'm not forgetting the other Hawke and Arthur, they're just not that important in my view. As for the DOM pilots, if they die, they'll have had as much impact as Sting and Auel.

I like it if Athrun accidentally kills Luna, and that sets Shinn to kill Athrun, and then in turn be killed by Kira. I think they can make all of that happen in two episodes. It'll even satisfy all the rabid Kira fans out there. Oh yeah... Rey has to die too, we'll put it up as a footnote somewhere.

Last note, if I were Jibril in ep 42 and I knew what was going on, I'd be busy laughing my ass off. In theory, everyone is trying to get him, Orb, and ZAFT, and he doesn't even have an MS to escort him, instead they're busy killing each other and tripping all over themselves. For Jibril, at that very moment, life would be good. Hell, if he escaped, the first thing he should do is to broadcast an open message to the world saying, Orb is our one true ally. Without the help of Freedom and Justice, he would've never been able to get to the moon and start to using the Requim, and as soon as he is done, he'll come back to Earth and properly reward Orb and make the leader of Orb his chief minister in charge of EA or something like that. Throw in some nice words about how he appreciate the sacrifices of all the Orb military, and even the legendary AA in trying to protect him from the evil coordinators.

Ep 42 was pretty good.  I hope Athrun gets himself together and fights.  Kira needs to stop that disabling crap.  I wonder what Rey is up too?

Imagine what Shinn could do with SF. Oh, but they need to toss in an anti-ship sword. Destiny seem to be a weaker MS by comparison due to the fact that it's power can actually deplete.

One other note, can anyone tell me what wings of light is actually supposed to do? It seems to be nothing more than a big energy drain at this point.

Unlike V2's Wings of Light, Destiny's WoL do not provide any real thrust (okay, perhaps I should say no thrust). The WoL create after-images using colloid particles. Apparently, this effect drains the battery. This is probably why Destiny cannot use them that much.

I think you just said that WoL is kind of useless. Nothing more than a big sign that screams: "HERE I AM, SHOOT ME." Heh heh. Correct me if I misunderstand. I think an actual mirage colloid can be a bit more useful.

Nah, it was just the anti-ship sword.

In GSD...yeah...the WoL are pretty much useless. :) Except on Destiny. :D I suspect Destiny has is quite the speed demon. The WoL are just another measure of deception and takes advantage of that speed (i.e. Think of the trick where you hold a pen and rock it up and down, the pen looks like it's made of rubber, this is kinda like a glorified version of it). It's just an optical effect for Destiny to use. It's more like "HERE I AM, SHOOT ME." Victim shoots. "Ha ha! You missed!" Victim gets stabbed by a BFS (Big F****** Sword).

Wow, I am confused

Sorry for the lame questions but are these thread discussion based on "Gundam Seed" or "Gundam Seed Destiny"???

Sorry if I didn't know since I haven't been following Gundam for a while.  ;)

Technically, both since GSD is a sequel to GS. But we focus mainly on GSD.

The thing about GSD is that its too much of a super robot show. In reality, no matter how good someone is, throw enough numbers at them, and they'll fall eventually. This would apply even to Freedom. After all, Kira has to go to the bathroom at some point.

After three days of continuous fighting, Kira: "can't take it any more.... arrrrgh, must take piss, must pee............. cries

After a few days, it would be pretty rank in Freedom.

meh, all gundams have been super robot shows... well.. not war in a pocket... but most then... if you're watching a gundam anime this is something you just need to buy into... other wise it's like watching a mickey mouse movie and complaining it's about a mouse.

You can say the same for 0083, 08th MS team and even most of Seed, where numbers actually mattered. Remember, Gato was brought down because he was outnumbered. Orb was taken because they were outnumbered. For Zeta Gundam, the pivotal point for defeating the Titans was Bright using the colony laser, not Camille killing Scirroco, now, obviously, Scirroco would've been big trouble if he lived, but he would have to build and start from scratch.

The exceptions are Wing and G. Where it became the super robot show.
