I run a particular resolution on my computer that I think fits the size and utility of my monitor, not out of any need to have a super hi res desktop. Though I suppose 1920 x 1200 would look very very funny I just find that certain resolutions work best for certain sizes of monitors. Back when I had my old 15", 800x600 was fine and I disliked 1024 x 768. But I'm running a 21" monitor now, and anything below 1280 x 1024 just seems way too large and blocky. Of course, anything larger is just way too small in my opinion Yeah - at work I have a 24" letterboxed LCD, and like you, anything lower than 1920x1200 is just too large, and doesn't give me enough desktop space for using my CAD programs...
