Where to find Macross stuff in the Phillipines?

Recommended Posts

I haven't been back to sa Pinas in almost two years. From what I remember there were several stores that carried Macross merchandise.

MegaMall - there were at least two stores on the basement level (Comic Zone and Filbars).

Greenhills - there were three stores that carried variou anime products (I found some Yammie 1/60's in one of em).

SM City - there were two stores pretty close to each other (one was a comic book store and the other was a model store...with plenty of Hasegawa's)

Maybe some of my fellow kababayans that held the Macross meet at MegaMall can shine some light on this topic. Aye naku!

Kamusta kabayan?

There were a few threads regarding Macross Stuff in the Philippines from the old MW forums. Here is a collection of links that you and fellow Filipinos can view/review:

And perhaps, after reading the threads above, we can formulate an updated list of stores for Macross Stuff.

If I haven't mistaken, Omni Existence has formulated a "toy store route" whenever he goes down to Manila. (Toys etc. not specifically Macross) ;)

Ah yes...Jollibee..the only restaurant that serves Spaghetti with sliced hotdogs rather than traditional hamburger meatballs ;)

Sorry to go OT.

LOL. Ya know what......I'm lucky to live in a town that's mostly Filipino. There's only two Jollibee's that I know of in the Bay Area (Daly City and Union City). But, I wish they had the same menu's as the ones in the Philippines. I miss those burgersteaks and fish and chips. :p

MegaMall - there were at least two stores on the basement level (Comic Zone and Filbars).

Filbar's carries Macross merchandise? Last time I was in Manila, that store didn't give a crap about anime or manga, which was why I took my business elsewhere (definitely not Comic Quest, as they overprice everything).

My former place for anime stuff was CNA (located a couple of blocks away from Ateneo), which unfortunately closed down in 1997. I then got my anime fix at Special Collectors' at Virra Mall in Greenhills. This was before Gundam models started flooding department stores.

Next month, I'll be returning to Manila for two weeks. I will definitely be shopping at the following malls:

Glorietta (Makati)

Virra Mall (Greenhills)

Santa Lucia (Cainta)

Robinson's Galleria (Pasig)

Robinson's Place (Ermita)

SM Megamall (Pasig) is a possibility, but I really don't like going there because it's way too crowded.

And now for an update for those outside the Philippines:

Two days ago, my brother dragged me into SM Megamall just to get some stuffed Ragnarok doll. So I decided to kill some time by checking out Toy Kingdom. The store has a Yamato 1/60 VF-1A CF for P3,900 (roughly US$65). I'm so tempted to get it, but I've got other plans for my pocket money.

Anyone in Manila want to meet up with me at Pegasus?

What's up AREASEVEN?! Looks like Toy Kingdom is finally getting it, last time I checked they only had Gundam kits for sale. Definitely gonna be back to check it out!

The PEGASUS, in Q.C. ave. Dude, that place still open? I'm gonna have to round up the boys for a night out next time I'm in Manila! :D Hey, A7, ya might wanna check out The BARTOLINA, too! ;):D

Dunno if it's still open. It's been over five years since I've been in Manila. Right now, I'm in Tagaytay Highlands.

This Thursday night, I'll be around Makati and next week, I'll check out the rest of Quezon City.

BTW, a little correction: the Yammie VF-1A CF is P3,500 (US$64).

Just came back from Greenhills. Man, has that place changed a lot. Last time I was there in '99, hardly anyone shopped there. But now that the place sells more cell phone parts and bootleg DVDs, it's almost impossible to walk through the crowd. Virra Mall used to have excellent air conditioning, but due to the overwhelming number of customers, it's sometimes hotter in the mall than outside.

Anyway, here's an update on Valkyrie prices:

BEST Toys in Virra Mall has the Yamato VF-1A CF and Hikaru variants for P2,900 (roughly US$52). Unfortunately, I blew my savings on a night in Wilderness (located within Heartbeat nightclub on Quezon Ave.). If you go there, ask for #59. :p

Sup A7!

Pegasus eh? I didn't get to check that place out when I was there two years ago. Next time I'm checking out Starfleet (being a Trek fan and all), Peagasus, Klassmayte, and (yet again) Rolex. Sorry for going so off topic. Heheheehehehe.

Wow. It also seems that the 1/60's are pretty expensive. Did you run into any 1/48's? When are you coming back to the States?

Hoy, areaseven.

Were you able to stay long enough to visit the latest toy convention in SM Megamall?

Check this out: The 3rd Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles

Unfortunately, I left two days before that convention. I might return next year to catch the next one.

That's sad. :( You just missed half of your life. j/k

Anyway, this is where I should've posted this message instead of the Greenhilss thread:

Greattoys.net has just opened a new branch in Makati. I have yet to visit it.

The website should be updated with the exact complete address of the Makati Branch or you can drop-by the site's message board.

I often go to the Taft branch than in Greenhills. I'll see if this new branch is convenient to visit.

Man, I keep forgetting the name of that place in the Megamall basement, but I know which one yer talking about. That place is kinda pricey though. I've checked out a couple of places in Greenhills back in feb. of this year, but wasn't lucky enough to find some 1/48's (or maybe I just didn't look hard enough! :D ). Anyways, I collect YAMATO's--mostly 1/60's, but a couple of 1/48's as well. Man, I just love 'em, more so than I ever did the chunky-monkeys!

BTW, the weather in Manila is much better during the last month and the 1st two months of the year. It's not so hot and humid, which makes travelling a lot more fun! ;)

Time to bring back this thread from exile.

I'm going to be in sa Pinas this September, and I don't think I'm going to pick up any Macross merchandise.

Just wondering if anything's new. ;)
