How much of Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy'a work have you seen?

None, which is part of my point! Plus Sharmeen's resume doesn't look like it'll translate to a positively exciting STAR WARS experience. Getting Patty Jenkins's Rogue Squadron vibes with Sharmeen tbh.

Fair point. But I would argue that the one thing Disney Star Wars hasn't suffered from is poor directors. When there's a failure or misfire, it's generally a story/script issue. I'm not overly concerned.

Highly unlikely, given Lucas's track record. And whatever you think of the stories, the sequels were well casted, acted, and shot, and made very effective use of practical, in-camera effects. We would have gotten none of that with Lucas. They would have been a green-screen, CGI-fest mess.

Probably.. but I think I still would have taken that over what we got.

For all of their problems, I can still appreciate the story of the prequel movies, independently of watching them.  I can't say anything like that about the sequels.

I re-watch the prequels (including Phantom Menace) way more than the sequels.

I find the prequels unwatchable. I haven't watched the theatrical versions since the time of their release, and I haven't watched the only slightly-more palatable fan-edit versions of them in several years.

The sequels were well shot, well acted, and have excellent special effects work. You can't say any of that about the prequels.

But we're kinda beating a dead horse here. If the scripts for future projects are good, Lucasfilm has the necessary infrastructure and personnel to turn out some really good stuff.

If all your interested in is cinema, then the sequels are superior, if you want Star Wars, then the prequels are superior.

I can't disagree more.

The only part of the prequels I regularly re-watch is the Darth Maul fight. The only part of the sequels I regularly re-watch is the throne fight. People give it a hard time for frankly stupid reasons, just like they gave the Darth Maul fight for frankly stupid reasons.

🤣

I think we can all agree that STAR WARS fans deserve better tho. It seems like we have to suffer though about 4 or 5 mediocre STAR WARS films till we get a Empire Strikes Back or Rogue One.
