Isn't Hlj doing 25% off shipping.?

even with the 25% off, it was EUR 26.something for shipping. The fun part: EMS was 26.something and the cheaper surface mail without tracking was 25.something. So I went with EMS.

Wait, does the kit come with both cockpit options?  Or did someone scratch build the canopy on that one?

Seriously though, that is gorgeous.  It warms my heart to, after over a decade, FINALLY see a 171 in something remotely resembling actual squadron markings.  It looks so good without all of the Bandai splatter on the design.

Looking at the snapped up models It doesn't seem like these guys have more detail than the Bandai 1/60th; they just don't have all the gaps and holes that the 1/60 has to facilitate transformation.

Anyone got one in hand to compare them side by side?

More stuff :)

the plastic is a dirty/used/old white.

clear orange canopy. The only clear part.

details are mostly crisp and they seemed to have learned from the trenches the panel lines of the vf-4 where :)

these look a lot mor delicate.

alto is super skinny

this kit has huge parts, so no easy modding in case anyone wants to battroid or gerwalk it.

the gears and wheels look a bit underdeveloped for my taste.

under all that plastic and bags you will find the instructions. Only downside: no explanation how to paint the cockpit and pilot.

then comes the largest decal sheet I ever had with a 1/72 kit.

the decals are nice and crisp.

I‘ll start building this when done with the plamax vf-1.

edit: oh wait, here are the paint instructions for cockpit and pilot.

Why can't Plamax do this for their VF kits? It's not like they have to solve a complex multidimensional physics problem, they just have to remember that people who build detailed models don't want to work with crappy stickers.

The Gunpla crowd is used to stickers, but at least Bandai is nice enough to make decals sheets available as a seperate product occasionally for the more ambitious modelers. Plamax is really underselling their excellent kits in that regard.

@Urashiman thank you for the appetizer pics!

I'll wait for the CF kit so I won't have to paint the gazillion of white stripes on these scheme.

Bandai is even so nice to provide both, sometimes. I had stickers and decals in my MG RX-78-2.
