I agree with Gabe Q and Lolicon. I'm very impressed with Misa in particular.

Thanks. I agree Misa's pose is better, because it's based on the key art.  But you gotta give Hikaru some love too.

Feel free to give pose examples and advice on my page.

Ah, dangit... I gave in and decided to get the premium finish version from HLJ. It was one of two remaining in their inventory.

My eyesight isn't as good as it used to be and I don't want to strain them while cutting stickers or decals to apply on the regular one I have.

Not sure what I'll do with the regular one. Either sell it, give it to a friend, or repaint it with a different scheme. I've already panel lined it, so selling is probably out.

Oof, I would have bought it panel lined if I hadn't just bought one 20 days ago.

How much were you looking at letting it go for?

I hadn't put much thought into it. Less than what I had paid for it for sure.

A small preview/update.  The panel lines are basically done, a few spots need redoing/tweaking.

Lines are not quite as "crisp" as I'd like, but I'd rather have too soft than too stark.

Looks good. Did you use a mix of a wash and pencil?

That's a great looking FB 2012 Minmay!

Softer is better.  Looks good to me.

Man those look so good.

Ever consider doing proper 1/48 figures for the DX line? I think the pilot figures are the biggest eyesores and just make the entire scale look wonky.:hi:

Sure. Please provide me the measurements and all my pilot figures can be adjusted.

Sorry I don't have 1/48 in my collection, only 1/72 and 1/60.  Too big for me.

Even in my 1/60s, it's not one size fits all. For example, there is more leg room in the Arcadia VF-4 than the YF-19 and VF-1.

Hmmmn----too much black? Matching the tailfins closer might have looked better but would be difficult to paint.

it gives it a nice look, kinda similar to the Bandai Hi-Metal R VF-4G in the Focker color scheme.

The whole fin+hinge comes out easily (even accidently), but the hinge itself (coppery-plastic) is pinned to the fin (molded in off-white), and my efforts to remove the pin to remove the coppery-hinge so as to have access to the part of the hinge molded to the fin (the whitish part) were unsuccessful.  And I didn't want to try to hand-paint the area, I wanted "lacquer spray or nothing" in an area subject to wear, and that pretty much meant spraying black or nothing.   So I went with "nothing".

Vallejo "tin" is actually very close to "VF-4 dark copper/bronze" so I'm applying that to the hinges.  I "feel good" about the hinge-paint surviving transformation, but we'll see.

(I was originally going to use "hammered copper" and try to darken it, but the tin color looked so close in the hobby shop that I bought it)

Not a perfect match but quite close when dried.  I ended up painting the coppery-plastic part of the hinge too.

It's a good enough match I may start painting other "coppery plastic" bits, too.

It looks very close. Great job, particularly considering how much harder it is to match metallics, imo.

That's an excellent match. I wouldn't have known you had painted it if I didn't already know to look for it. Looking at it now, it's a bit surprising Arcadia left an obvious unpainted hinge like that. That's such a Bandai thing to do *coughDXVF-1cough*

That came out great. The color is a really good match.

Realized I never replied!  Anyways---someday, when I have a 3D printer, I'll be able to print a Misa out for my VF-4.

Thanks. Ask a friend maybe? The rare ones are my favorites to work on.
