dafob
Looking for either Yamato 1/48 VF-1A Hayao Kakizaki TV or DYRL versions. The TV version was the Macross Chronicles version. The DYRL is the standard release (green stripe). Please let me know if you have either one complete and willing to sell. EDIT: Found DYRL version. Corrinald
I was debating on bidding on one of these on YJA but it went up to around 26000 yen. Are these rare?
jenius
It was the last 1/48 Yamato release only available as mail-order through a magazine. It also followed the Max TV VF-1A that many stores seemed to over-estimate how many they could sell so it seemed like far fewer stores picked up many to sell. So, yeah, it's not weathering edition rare but it's more rare than most.
dafob
The most annoying thing is that I bought one on eBay earlier this week using the 15% coupon. Thought I scored and finally completed my 1/48's: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamato-Macross-magazine-mail-order-limited-model-1-48-VF-1A-Valkyrie-figure-TV/143166151592?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 But then the next day I saw the exact same item posted on YAJ, same pics and everything: https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g335320051 The auction had until this morning (Sunday) to close. I had a feeling the seller was waiting to see how much he could get and then cancel the lower one. Sure enough, at almost the exact same time as the end of the YAJ, I get an email through eBay from the seller that it was no longer available and offered to send me a similar item or full refund. That's not cool. I used the BIN option on eBay on Tuesday and he should've ended the YAJ listing that day, but he let it ride. WTF?! And here's another funny thing: the dude did the same thing with the TV 1/48 Max: eBay (still active!): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamato-Macross-magazine-mail-order-limited-model-1-48-VF-1A-Valkyrie-figure-doll/143166147972?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 YAJ (ended this morning): https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h384218130 I know there's one on Manda right now but looks like it may be missing parts. Hoping someone here may be bored of theirs and is willing to share it with another collector.
Corrinald
@dafobYeah that's the auction! Wow that's really shady that the seller did that. I am sorry to hear that you got screwed on that deal. Not sure what's up with the Mandarake one - is it missing the neck piece?? Seems expensive for missing multiple parts. @jenius that explains why they don't show up very often and tend to go for a high price. I have developed a fascination with the Yamato 1/48s since I bought a couple. Most of them are relatively easy to find at good prices (sans Max and Kakizaki TV ones as well as Milia 1J) Seems like a lot of them went up for sale in wake of Bandai's 1/48 DX release.
