Calibre Wings 1/72 diecast VF-1

Considering the Wolfpack F-14s were from VF-1, I'd say it's entirely fitting.

Seriously though, I think the VF-1 nose markings were entirely unique for the F-14, and about as close as you can get to the standard Skull Squadron nose stripes.

Really? So matching Walküre and Valkyries falls into what category then?

The thing is that I don't want to start another line. I'm just playing on the idea if I were to get one. And that means I need to get another one for pairing. ;)

Honestly? I would skip it all then. Stick to transforming Valks. If you realy are a fan of the F-14, get one just to check it out but I am a huge fan of the F-14 and really, not that impressed with the CW I have. Don't get me wrong, it looks great but is fiddly and I'd rather spend the money on a not as high end model that probably looks equally good from any distance beyond a couple feet and use the rest of the money saved on Valks.

Flying Mule has put it up for PO with a release date of April.

https://www.flyingmule.com/products/CL-CA72RB06

Still nothing on the actual website, so grain of salt and all that I expect.

edit: Flying Mule also has a 20% off pre-orders coupon right now: code is P2ZW

^ Nice! @jvmacross will be glad. He's going to reshoot this with the proper Calibre model. ;)

Yeah...I guess comparing it to the KC 1/72 VF-1S and the CW F-14 Fokker -1S will be good...

It looks nice, however, the tampo seems to be lacking...especially since it doesn't need to do anything other than super look cool in fighter mode...:unknw:

Right now it just looks like an bigger Doyusha to me.

Thanks to @Sanity is Optional I got it for a decent price! :good:

Do they tend to get things quickly? I would like to order from someone that will get it fairly quick.

They've had some supply issues with Calibre in the past actually, I had to cancel and re-order my VF-142 F-14 from another vendor because they just never got that one in stock for whatever reason.

I don't know if that was just a uniquely in-demand product, but it stuck in my mind as being annoying that I had to specifically email them to request a refund when they cancelled the order, rather than it happening automatically.  Seemed very clunky for a modern webshop.

I asked Calibre in that post about the possibility of making non canon paint schemes that look more real world military....similar to what they are doing with their Tomcat “Dream-Cats” Line. They liked the comment so maybe we’ll see some non standard color schemes down the line.

I read the description on BBTS to see what makes this a "limited edition" model and this part made me chuckle:

Quote

It miraculously survived through several years of battle and was never destroyed, making it a symbol of humankind's invincibility.

Invincibility? That's going a little far right? I mean, mankind essentially LOSES three wars in Robotech and just barely eeks out an existence.

Plus.. no real indicator of how this is limited.

In general, all models from the higher end diecast aircraft manufacturers are limited.  Typically around 1000 to 2000 pieces. Usually higher amounts for the first few releases of a given mold.

The Tomcats they've released in Macross Livery have numbered tags, don't they? like XXXX/2000 or something like that?

I would assume it'd be the same type of thing for the VF-1:

Calibre Wings also makes an Ocean Low Pass diorama base for their F-14. I’m sure with a little finagling you could mount another aircraft or the upcoming VF-1 to recreate a certain scene ;)

So they're doing a "premium finish" version for the conventions or just bloodied seat?

as far as it seems its a bloodied seat. I dont see any premium finish versions, as even the regular is well tampoed and panel lined (or what seems to be panel lined).

No word on weathering either.

*updated* with new pic from fb....between the regular and bullet ridden convention exclusive release..
