Inspired by this maybe?

I think it's always been pretty obvious that the VF-1's standard markings (specifically the stripe on the nose) were inspired by the VF-1 Wolfpack markings on the F-14.

But as white as that looks, I don't believe that's actually white.  That looks like a slightly later set of VF-1 markings, so the F-14 looks like it should be an overall light gull gray.

In terms of the animation, it just makes more sense to paint the main characters' planes all white.  Notice, Roy, Hikaru, Max, and Kakizaki all received some variation on a white paint scheme, while the rest of the fleet seemed to just be all brownie VF-1s.  I'm not sure what military grouping "Vermillion Squad" was based on, but the whole squadron should have probably had very similar markings instead.  I think they just painted them bright so you could see them on screen better. ^_^

I agree with Chronocidal. The only -fighter aircraft- that are white in past/present active U.S. service are usually trainers. In the 50's there were some very light colored aircraft like the attached (notice the white elevators). But I think white fighters are an anime or demonstration team / trainer kinda thing. - MT

Hmmm...

Well here's having that crazy thing called "Hope" that Hasegawa has redesigned those hip and apparently shoulder joints. Nothing like all that trouble to assemble a kit and paint it only to watch it snap apart.

I thought I heard years ago that although the original VF-1 Battroid had issues with weak joints, they corrected that with the Super Battroid kits.

I've been away from the forum for a while, so I'm thrilled to see both the Armored Battroid and the 1/48 Sonic Birds model. I bought quite a few of those in 1/72 because their resemblance to a real Navy squadron scheme. If Hasegawa does the SVF-41 Black Aces scheme in 1/48, my wallet is going to be in trouble!

This looks very promising. Does anyone know the scale of this?

Would be amazing if it was released in 1/48, but that’s just a wish.

More than likely it would be 1/72 to remain in line with majority of Macross releases under their belt.

Saw it and instantly preordered. Just couldn’t resist and hoping for more enemies. Wave took care of a couple of destroids, maybe hasegawa is getting more brave. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for macross model kits

Where at? Didn't see it pop up at HLJ yet.

[edit] Found it at Hobby Search, with some runner images!

I remember back when hasegawa first did macross vf 1 fighter kits and said to myself, they probably won’t do the battroid mode. Years later they’ve done all three modes super strike and an upcoming armor pack and for some reason I doubted any enemy mecha, now I’m really hopeful for more and maybe some destroids as well. I don’t even know where I would put a 1/72 monster, but I still want one

Holy heck Hasegawa is on a roll with these announcements. Almost makes me wonder if they had these stashed away waiting for licensing to finally clear...

As far as re-releases for February go it's:

They do have size measurements in the description at most of the sites offering it. The body does look a little thin from the drawing shown, but it’s not enough to bug me. I will probably reserve my judgment until I see a full build or at least the prototype built up. I think the thing I’m still most curious about is how they’re gonna handle the knee joints. That’s always been a point of compromise between looking like the line art and poseability

I'm really excited for this release! I immediately preordered two of these. What I'm really curious about is to see what Tenjin comes up with for the box art.

We'll definitely see a missile Regult release down the road and, judging by the parts breakdown, they've at least left open the possibility of a scout version.

The finished height is listed at 225mm or about 8.9 inches. I'll have to open up my  Bandai kit and The Cap's version to see how it will compare in size.

This is a very big surprise to see Hasegawa venturing into the territory of enemy vehicles. The GBP armor release was already a big surprise. Maybe we'll see an N-ger, Q-Rau, or Glaug sometime in the future???

The pics on the website do give us a look at least of the outside of the knees.

Meanwhile on the other runners we see what's possible the foot/ankle joints (left top of pic)

There's also some joint looking parts on the top right of this but I don't think those are knee related

Yes, Pixie love !

Yes, the proportions look a little off to me, but it's no complaint. I want at least one ! Been working with the Moscato version and it's so perfect.. will be very interesting to have this standing next to that ,as well as my Bandai version..

Those are all reissues, but it's nice to see that Hasegawa is continuing to support the Macross line. Already preordered my Regult! :D

Edit: I just caught that you said re-releases, @TMBounty_Hunter. Sorry about that. Hoping we see more new kits!

those regult shots look really nice. hasegawa is really stepping it up with the undergating which is very welcome

That and color separation.

I wonder if they're trying to get some of the gunpla builder market? World of difference between that and a traditional model kit.
