Holy Grail Kit/Project Compilation #4:

IHP resin kits, they're super rare, (10) or less of each and sold at certain Wonder Festivals in Japan.  They are considered to be perfect variable, and IHP are pioneers because they are the first company to release several valkyries as 3 mode transformable.  Very small group of 2 - 3 people creating and then producing designs from scratch.  These are definitely the pride of my Macross collection, please enjoy!

$50 Reward to whomever can tell me if "IHP" is an acronym and if so, what it stands for.  Also, any information about the origin of the company, who is in it, etc. Likewise the relationship between IHP, Liquid Stone and finally Experten.

Been squeezing my brain trying to figure out what "I.H.P." means! O.o

Closest I can figure, the initials represent three people who comprised this company (my guess), represented by the three characters in IHP's "VF-1 Riders" logo on their instruction sheet:

ihp_72vfi1.translated.jpg.26f5dc91fc6e71597a7df1bee3c15cc4.jpg

Scoured the entire 'net and not much more than a translation via Yandex of one of the instruction sheets. :(

*so much for my career as a private detective peng!  :😞*

@pengbuzzNice job, yes I agree with you that's a good explanation.  From what I also understand, IHP and Liquid Stone are the same company.  Some or all of the group went on to form Experten, which has similar kits.  If you or anyone else ever comes across the IHP 1/72 VF-1 complete model or the conversion kit for the Hasegawa please let me know.  I've been looking all over for one around 20 years now.

@BoltThanks very much, and I hope you're doing well!

I had emailed IHP back in 2000, when the internet was nice people reaching out to each other (IHP/UNCM-Tanmen, heck even Imai and Nichimo...I was young and stupid and said why not!?)

From what I recall (searching the old info), I had learned than Ryo Sakuragawa was the main rep for the Modeling Circle called IHP, which consisted of 3 people.
I never went further into investigating the name, was too busy trying to buy the kits 😛

From the Valkyrie Annex page I saved off in 1999

I.H.P 1/100 VF-4G LIGHTNING III

氏のH.P.では、間もなくマクロス特集をする予定とか・・・

詳しくは、こちらから!

I, like many others here, was a bit of a data hoarder in the old days. We saw cool stuff and said 'Mine!'
We should have a separate thread somewhere where we can go down memory lane...post up old saved auctions, website screenshots etc
Would be fun to see other's save data

That’s a great idea.

Maybe it should be pinned as well.

@pengbuzzIf only we could find out their actual names, but we'll have to settle with what we know for now.

@ConvectuosoBoth kits are very nice, congratulations!  It's definitely not easy to build the variable resin kits, they did a great job!

Very excited for this project, it's a super rare Holy Grail Experten variable kit.  I don't even know of another in existence.  Also included are some recent arrivals. For more than (20) years I wanted to own the IHP 1/100 VB-6 variable resin kit and I have finally have one in excellent condition.  That's in addition to the only known built one in existence that I posted previously. If you have a good eye, you'll see a couple of very rare 3D printed kits from my good friend Xigfrid's Customs in France.  Plus some really hard to find Macross resin kits.

I'm sorry for not posting for a while, just got busy.  Hopefully everyone is doing well, please share pictures of your model kit collection with us!

Great finds. I can’t remember the last time I saw pics of that kit. Glad it has come to light.

And I got one of my commissions: Studio Half Eye's 1/100 Perfect Variable YF-21

Picsart_22-09-28_14-11-54-804.jpg.1eb4c0f2290dc8f48519a348dd9d1d0f.jpg

Oh nice. I think the Battroid if the best of the three modes of the YF-21 kit. But that painted Gerwalk is all kinds of sexy.

And that VF-5000 is no slouch either.

Congratulations.

My latest commission that was completed for me by Tom (Chicago) who is an expert at building Experten.  I think this is maybe his 40th commission over the last 20+ years of our friendship.  The Holy Grail 1/100 VF-11MAXL!

@nightmareB4macrossThank you very much and best wishes to you and other Macross model kit fans.

What am I looking at? What is the context of the mountain? Special event somewhere? Need details please.

I've been trying to find out, as these images apparently make the rounds on social media somewhat regularly in various hobby groups when people start talking about how large their kit stashes are. I think I finally found the source this morning, or at least a pointer to it:

https://www.sohu.com/a/138290242_735772

Google translation of the original Chinese:

Quote

Veteran players who often pay attention to overseas news must have heard of Kaiyodo in Japan, and Shuichi Miyawaki, the president of the toy company Kaiyodo, is a collector maniac, and he has spent a lot of manpower and material resources collecting various models. Recently, he is going to clear the accumulation, and try to challenge the Guinness World Record of "all the numbers of assembled models". Shuichi Miyawaki has been collecting models for nearly 50 years, starting from the first grade of elementary school. You may have seen the model pyramid diagram below. According to news reports, Shuichi Miyawaki used two 4-ton trucks to faint one-third of the way, and the total number is more than 40,000. However, it is not easy to count the number of these models. I hope he can succeed in the challenge!
