My one anime, sci-fi and aircraft display cabinet! Might have to pack some of the planes and girls away as it's already getting a little cramped..

I think I was 12yrs old when I saw one of these at the air force museum in I think it's Dayton, OH. I was completely blown away and obsessed about it. It's numbers are ludicrous.

Can't really remember actually.. I've had her for a while now. Possible ebay?

She's not actually tall.. the camera angle skewed the image a bit and that she's right up against the glass. She's about 20cm tall.

Yeah they are my all time favorite plane and not just because of the name! LOL! Especially the second prototype with its cantered wings. A shame it was lost in a crash.

I love everything about that display.  Basically runs literally top to bottom like a "best of" selection of my favorite aircraft and science fiction designs.  B-70, Refit Enterprise, F-106, F-14, YF-19, and VF-1.. only thing missing for me would be an X-Wing.  

Which Enterprise version is that by the way?  Looks a little like one of the diamond select ones, but it seems brighter white than the ones I have.  Might just be the display lighting washing it out.

Good call on the X-Wing. I prefer Tie Fighters, Slave I and MF but the point is some Star Wars representation. I'd add an original Cylon Raider too.

My love of big toys sure does create it's challenges. This dude looks awesome. He's about 2" too tall to fit in a Detolf though. I ended up pulling a shelf out for now.

I'm going to have to accelerate my design for adjustable Detolf shelves.

That's a beauty! One simple way is just putting some pads under the shelf where they are supported. Depends on how high you need them to go but definitely an easy and effective way to add small amounts of height.

I love the weathered look that ThreeZero does on a lot of stuff.

I need about 2" more for this guy.

And as I typed that I came up with a sweet idea for "risers" that clamp on to the existing Detolf bars. Really low profile jobbies. With interchangeable posts they could be pretty much infinitely adjustable (in increments of maybe .25-.5").

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. I could knock a few out in the shop pretty easy. Mass production is a different nut to crack. I need to think about this.

You are referring to the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, located near Dayton, Ohio.  I grew up near there and visited the museum many times with my dad. I think that is where I first developed a love of fighter jets.  ( I also think my dad originally wished before I was born that he'd have a son to pass along the family name, but anyways... )

Yeah, that's the one. If I remember correctly you have to sign up and take a bus out to see the experiment aircraft.

It looks like the Bandai Enterprise-A but it's missing some details so that can't be it. Zooming in, there are noticeable seams on the ends of the nacelles, so I'm thinking it's a Diamond Select release.

The XB-70 looks swell @spanner

I really like the cantered wings; obviously this was where the YF-21 got it from. The YF-21 really is an amalgam of experimental aircrafts features of its day - the body of the YF-23, the wings of the XB-70 Valkyrie, the 3D trust vectoring feature? And that it transforms into a Queadluun-Rau inspired design is just amazing!

Not so much a fan of Star Wars so I don't have any of the ships.. I do like them though. 

Can't remember what brand the Enterprise is but it is the 1701A. Maybe the Undiscovered Country movie version..

One of the common Detolf mods are using cable clamps on the posts, as height adjustable mounts for the glass to rest on. Couple of pics pulled randomly from net below to illustrate:

What I was concerned with for this method, was that the glass shelf now rests on 4 very small footprints, so the glass corners become high stress points. Then one day I happen to come across adjustable height, purpose-built Detolf acrylic shelves from a Polish supplier:

I ordered couple of sets, and so far I've had time to fix a shelf (pictured below, on the top shelf). The shelf may look a bit out of place compared to the default shelves, but they are sturdy and works well. I just want these shelves to use up the vertical space in the Detolfs, especially if the toys are in fighter mode.

Yup, ordered direct. 

Although, the packaging was a bit scary, because the pizza-like box used to house the set of shelves was a bit too large, and look to collapse rather easily if any other parcel sits on top of it in transit. There was no outer shipping box, the item box itself came wrapped only in clear plastic film.

It’s kinda ironic since they specialise in making tough cases for transporting toy figures.

Still, the shelves itself survived the trip without any issues. If I were to order again, I would add in a remark requesting robust packaging, perhaps add bubble wrap outside the box, and inside the box to fill up the empty spaces.

One of the metal mounts arrived bent & defective. I contacted them and they sent replacements right away, so no complains there on after-sales.

Well, crap. I'm going to have to get another one of these display cases. I AM NOT looking forward to moving these. They weigh I'm guessing 300lb. They're impossible to level standing up when on the carpet. Which means they have to be tipped over and let down gently on their side every time you adjust (so adjust smart). All three big cases will fit on that wall.

I've got a bunch of Yeti stands to set up. They're not going to do the trick though.

I'll move the two Detolf's that are pictured to the opposite wall behind my desk on a riser. I have one more for good measure.

As usual, everything I do gets out of hand.

Yeah, they're pretty sweet! I had been eyeballing them online for weeks. Then because of the power of Google/Facebook I was shown a art store that was selling some used when I was out of town in Chicago. I went back the next weekend with my truck and picked them up for...................................$450 per case. I tried talking them into a third, but they weren't going for it. Not that I could have fit it in the truck. I would have had to stash it at my buddies house and go back again (9 hrs round trip).

I really need another. I don't even have everything un-boxed yet. I am not looking forward to moving these. It's going to turn into a multi day affair when you add in unloading/loading of the toys. And did I mention they're heavy? Holy crap! And this third one is going to run me retail plus delivery. I guess it's kinda weird to buy a zilion dollars in toys then complain about the case price. But I'm going to do it anyway.

It's going to look pretty sweet when that whole wall is lighted case though.

Really nice! I always think about how many more toys I can get for the price of displays for them. But the display does make enjoying the toys better.

I think this is higher res.

Keep in mind there is very little organization going on here. This is the product of un-boxing toys, putting them in the display and seeing what I end up with in regards to space. There are I think 17 Valks to un-box still and a quite a few Super Robots. Even if I get everything in there tight and stacked with Yeti stands this just isn't enough room. I'm going to have to set my wallet on fire and order another one of those cases today.

I had been in it 10yrs ago (not to this level). I sold my collection along with just about everything else of value I could convert to cash (motorcycles, Lego sets, firearms, etc) to help finance a new business. It killed me to do it, but sacrifices have ti be made sometimes.

For the past ten years I have been eyeballing toys and wanting to get back into it. About two years ago the business really started to come together and I started to have actual money that I didn't need to plow back into inventory or R&D.

Yeah, a few months back (8/19/19) I ordered my first toy for the new collection. I've gone a wee bit bonkers since then. I have a pile of loot still in boxes almost as big as what is displayed right now! It's now time to back off on acquisitions and get my display stuff all lined out. I'm starting to bump into space issues.

Yeah, exactly. I really like the clean spaced out look so you can see each individual toy. But, as you mentioned at some point I'm going to run out of space. I just ordered another one of the big cases this morning.  It gets delivered Thursday. That should free me up for a bit. I have room for four Detolf's (2 more) in the office. After that I'm hosed. Hopefully when I'm all filled up it will coincide with a new/bigger house (I work from home). If not, I'll have to rotate. Or start taking over other rooms.

For sure. These case are going to be a lot more efficient when receive/get all of my YeiStands set up. That shelf with the 31's will probably be able to hold four more when Yeri stands are in play.

And there is another cabinet getting delivered this week.
