Well there are now conflicting reports about Delta not having been originally planned for two cour (full 26 episodes).. It serves to give an explanation of why it all went downhill but had this been confirmed as true or false? Some are now saying it was always meant to be 26 episodes.

The correct translation is that Delta was given a 26-episode run during the scripting-stage of Episode 4, not the production-stage of episode 4. That means they had much more time to actually plan out the story if you think about it.

I found the poetry in this episode to be quite touching.

"The sky is vast."

"The galaxy is huge."

"The sea is wet."

We can take the simple things for granted, but life really is full of miracles. I assume this was the blue haired boy's father's way of parenting while he was gone... teaching his young son about the galaxy...

meh!

one-cour, two-cour, schmour!

it ain't a valid excuse at all. try not to use it as some sort of an explanation of the fail.

iirc, SDF-TV had a more precarious series-survivability (13 to 26 to 48 to 36 or whatever), yet it kept the series moar interesting and moar epic despite and in spite of the tv-stations and producers' capricious episode-counts whims.

Don't get me wrong, I do not see it as an excuse for a second, this is completely unacceptable any way you look at it.. It just has been mentioned so much as the reason why it went the way it did.

In the end DELTA to me, exists pretty much just for a Walkure merchandise ad. That's what I have to look at it now as and nothing more.

Ok thanks. Does anyone know if the writing team changed midway? Or are credits the same all the way thru? Because while I wasn't a complete fan of delta prior to 13, I was ok with it. After that, it just spiraled out of control as if a different team took over for writing.

OK, now this would be an epic fail! Kawamori has a bit of an excuse since he takes longer than Lucas to write a story, but he did have script staff.

Welcome to the Macross 7 legacy!

Although, I do admit M7 got better in the second half, despite my complete frustration with the Basara character and the rainbow moonbeam song barriers.

Did I not mention Swiss cheese? It is entirely possible both could happen a this point or perhaps Ozma shows up with his team in the Quarter!

Hey, that means Ozama and SMS could have a whole new color scheme for their -25s; more toy sales. They should definitely do it... and let's not forget Hikaru, (already on the path to bringing back Megaroad-1), and let's see, already mentioned Max and Milia, don't forget Isamu, and Guld... oh wait, Guld is dead, but hey, since we already had a new color scheme for the VF-22, Guld isn't needed. Need a different color scheme for VF-19 and other types of FAST packs though. And didn't we just get a VF-4 Lightning release on the Master Files, quick, throw in some FAST packs, and let Hikaru on it, more toys...

Did I miss anyone? Oh, can't believe I forgot Shin, he can magically come back with Sara and do a sing along on the Vintage VF-0, with all new accessory packs and paint scheme of course.

:p sorry, really going overboard, aren't I?

By the way, did anyone get Kakizaki flashbacks as Chuck opened up his lunch? But it's a little too late in the series for him to bite the dust right?

Minor nitpick, one I know we won't get any answers to. But how did Windermerans know that the incoming fleet was armed with MDEs, so that they could target "Silent Night" so easily? Because there has to be some specific command to tell the crew to go detonate the MDEs.

Guess it's just one more item in a long line of items we'll never find out about.

I do not know how this can all wrap up in 20 minutes. If we do not find out who Lady M is that will suck. I kept waiting for good mecha action like in frontier, or even good deep character depth..but we did not get either one really.

Berger is technically a Double-Agent is he not? Since Delta is now notorious for things happening without actually showing us, it's very possible he told Roid about the Fleet coming in with MDE's.

Thank you sir. And here I was hoping some answer regarding Mirage on my post. Hahaha!

He's actually Ozma in disguise.

Oh great idea, throw in the games too... more fighters.. more toys to sell.

Well, I've obtained Episodes 24 and 25.

On a scale of 1 to The Exorcist, how bad is this going to make me want to puke?

I suggest you wait till episode 26 is out, my logic is this; that way, you only have to puke once instead of twice. And on the off chance, 26 is so shockingly good, you might not puke at all.

But take the others advice, get lots of beer, and may be Ernie will look like Milia after a few minutes...

You know, I really wanted and had good expectation when the show got announced, after the pilot episode I wanted to be wrong and see an awesome show.

I would've put up with little to no mecha action as long as the story and plot was interesting, but no, if the character design was good, but no, if the characters personalities had some depth and insight, but no, if the direction of every episode left me wanting for more, but no, if they would've introduced something new and exciting for the Macross universe, but not. This show was just plain awful.

If the basic premise of the whole show was to finally ascertain that "singing is a weapon" and reintroduce Megaroad-01 to us, they could've made this into a 3 episode OVA and would have done alright.

Next episode is gonna be rushed as hell trying to solve plot points, mecha action, solve character development and answer who Lady-M is and will fail miserably

*dips on Bandai VF-4 Advanced, CASH COW!!!

If....IF we should actually see VF-4's and Bandai makes a DX.... it will be the highlight of Delta.

Did my quick-viewing. Sit-down viewing will come later.

Guess I predicted the data recorder right.

Semi-speculation, semi-spoilers.

-HOLD ON AN 'EFFIN MOMENT. Turbulence where there was no turbulence. 2 bandits on an intercept course. Radio cuts off and it goes to remote. Does anyone else find this fishy? Windermerans keep saying "wind" in battle. Wright was found dead in the cockpit. Wright won't have dropped the MDE on a civilian population and NUNS had a specific target to drop the MDE. I'm sorry, but something still doesn't jive with this story.

And Mikumo is still rockin' the bondage restraints with Roid touching her hair like a creep now. EWWWWWW.....

I found this to be very particular and odd.. out of all the ways you can treat her, she's all bondage'd up... wtf. And yeah it looks like he's perving out on her. Cant unsee.

I took it as Wright lied about the turbulence to take a route that hit the side of the mountain away from the city to minimise casualties. This led to him being intercepted which caused NUN's to take the stick and beeline towards the target. I think this explains where the footage they showed comes from one of the interceptors. So NUN's dropped it before he got shot down.

You're right, but the alternative would be somehow Roid or Garmia or some Windermerans accessed the controls of the VF-22 and took over.

At this point, I'm chalking it to horrible writing. Because any further reveals would just be pointless, if we believe the old sequence, Roid/Keith were both there. Could be that both of them got shot down by Wright; What doesn't make sense here is that if I'm assigning someone to drop an MDE, I don't care how good a pilot he is, he'll have escorts going in... even if it means I strip every single fighter from every single mission. If the target was indeed SV, it is basically the most important mission of the war, why would NUNS only assign a lone fighter to make the sortie. Makes no sense. NUNS taking control also doesn't make sense either because they completely missed the target. It was essentially the height of stupidity.

As for Roid being a creep, well, what do we expect, use the power stun word, punch Mikumo in the babymaker (good one podcast guys), bondage, then sharing with Ketchup boy. The only thing he hasn't done is brought in a bird and a sword at this point, and the series still isn't over yet. There was some hope for Roid in the beginning, but the best thing you can say about him is that he is a pale creepy version of Grace, nowhere near as intelligent or capable, but somehow, thanks to the crap writing, still manages to be a world class a**hole.

This episode wasn't too bad. It had some nice moments. I don't know if my expectations have just been adjusted properly but it wasn't as bad as I've come to expect. I still find Frejya and Hayate's dynamic pretty heartwarming as well, and good to see

Hayate back in the baby blue

Hopefully the finale will at least be entertaining.

As for your latter sentence. I'm sure a general "go kill yourself" command would have sufficed.

To be fair Delta has excellent character design, and some rather interesting characters. Now they did nothing at all with them and that's the real rub.

Yea, of all the complaints I have about Delta, the character design isn't one of them

How about a public apology from everyone who doubted me? I was among the first who warned about this series. I seem to remember a few others. I think they left after getting some negative feedback for sharing their dislike. You guys can come back now. Can I gloat now? Please let me hear you all say it, you were right.

Actually I was wrong. My earliest negative opinion had to do with the preview episode. My complaint was that I didn't like the apparent magic girl theme in a Macross series. Maybe an all-out magic girl show focusing mainly on Walkure wouldn't have been all that bad. It least there would have been a clear focus. As a whole Delta ending up being a disappointed not because of Walkure but because of weak story telling and being cheap with the animation.

Roid and Keith made a lot of references to their wings going black. Tell me again who do you think the bandits were.

OK, time to wade into Episode 25 of Super Dimension Disgrace: Macross Delta.

... and we're back at RaguNyanNyan for some reason. Why the hell aren't they listening to the flight data recorder from Wright Immelmann's VF-22 in, say, the conference suite aboard the Elysion?

Reina, of course, conveniently was able to salvage and repair the recorder to gain access to the recording. The NUNS clearly knew what Windermere was planning and wanted to destroy the Protoculture System before it could be used as a weapon. Once again we're left with Xaos as the slow children of the galaxy while the NUNS and Aerial Knights are the competent ones. Why, again, is anyone hiring these clowns to do ANYTHING? It seems almost like the arrogant and dismissive treatment of the NUNS earlier in the series and in Frontier is coming back to bite them in the arse.

This is gonna be a talking-heads episode isn't it?

We're back to the goddamn galaxy parallel thought plan? This is the laziest f*cking show...

The Star Shrine looks like it's begging for someone to jokingly photoshop a Brazzers logo onto it... who took the description "ancient Protoculture shrine and superweapon" and decided "distended anus is a perfect look for that"?

Even the Aerial Knights are starting to question Roid's megalomania... but it looks like Heinz is stepping up to back Roid, even though it'll mean mass murder at best. Why is it this show's characters keep gleefully jumping back and forth across the moral event horizon?

Oh crap, another New UN Spacy fleet and this one's armed with dimensional weapons. They're going to get curbstomped without firing a shot again, aren't they?

Once again, Lady M and Xaos are doing the stupidest thing possible. Instead of working with the NUNS to resolve the problem as directly as possible, they're going to let thousands and thousands of soldiers die for the sake of their own vanity and try to intercept the enemy forces headed to Ragna instead... when they have a 0% success rate. Honestly, as often as Berger praises Xaos for doing stupid crap, I'm now utterly convinced he's taking the piss out of them and they're too thick to notice.

Wait, didn't Berger just contradict himself? Lady M has been actively researching song as a weapon since the First Space War... but only appeared in 2059? The writers are getting forgetful or Berger's taking the piss.

Replacing all of the gear from Epsilon will take ten years of Xaos's operating budget? Wow. They dug themselves a REAL deep hole. Maybe that's why Windermere had such an easy time of jamming Walkure's gear... they probably got the specs right from Berger.

They built Hayate a new VF-31J? WHY?

Yep, and there we go. Mikumo sings her song and the NUNS forces poised to attack Windermere all obligingly commit suicide. It's official, this show is worse than Macross 7 could ever hope to have been. The writers responsible for this garbage should never be allowed to work in the industry again.

If there'd been an episode as bad as this atrocity before Ep13, I would've started to cancel my blu-ray preorders. Too late now, I suppose. I can only hope Big West will not compound the mistake called Macross Delta with a movie. Burn it and salt the earth, and hope the next Macross series is written by someone who isn't a drooling moron.
