Tomytec Gimix 1:144 VF-1

Since the Hi-Metal line is around 1/100 scale, truthfully that would pair well with 1/144 Battroids for a true-scale.

Yea, am hoping that the battroids dont come in too short compared to the regults legs.

Fighter mode and gerwalk i thk it can represent true scale better, since there is less emphasis on the vertical to be observed.

thanks for the clarification guys.

unfortunately with this bundling, fighter legs and battroid torso would be completely wasted for folks who are just after gerwalk.

it's a good upselling scheme for folks who would just get 1 or 2 but prohibitive for army builders.

would have been willing to pay 1.5x fighter price for a pure gerwalk, but 2x is steep. so now i'm just ordering 6 gerwalk bundles instead of 9

well, you basically have 6 fighters and 6 battroids already, if you dont utilise the gerwalk joint.

Thats enough for a squadron! Use the gerwalk joints as crashed parts in a diorama :p

i went with hobby search cos they still had the lighted burners available.

It was a toss up between the fuel trucks and weapons set, but got the one with more variety.

Wanted some personnel too, but they were all sold out in HS. Ah well i can source the personnel seperately via kits...

check my post on the first page, then check out this link: http://slist.amiami.com/top/search/list?s_seriestitle=Building+Collection&pagemax=40

Haha i spent a bit of time looking through airports, railworkers, ppl waiting at busstops, police, vending machines, silos, pigs and the list goes on...cos the workers set i wanted were sold out...

Its amazing the range they have...you could spend a small fortune building a whole city...

Have you gotten your sets yet? How are they?

they're still in private warehouse. probably won't see them in at least two months, but i'm sure they'll be amazing. such is my faith in the Gimix line, based on my previous purchases.

for folks who really want to avoid assembling parts, there's Aoshima's JGSDF Truck series of finished models with detail that is mind boggling at this scale, and working parts to boot.

aos08305_5.jpg?v=1415674202

and there is also Pro-Hobby metal cast and pre-finished ordinance loader : http://hlj.com/product/PRO81071/Mil

both are OOP but still available on ebay, amazon, etc.

1/144 scale is indeed very extensive, and if you fudge it with the very popular train N-scale (1/150) it is an even bigger and wider world. but so as not to clutter the discussion, i'll probably just start another thread on diorama resources.

Moveable parts are always nice on this scale and thanks for the tip on the aoshima ones.

Will pace myself and see what needs building up when the valks arrive ;)

the 074 tomytec personnel look like they could fit in...

Valks looks quite detailed dont they with the panel lines? ^_^ The brownies look real gritty...

I like the way they decal the fuel trucks with the kite hehe....

Just wonder what colors are the actual afterburners on the 1S, but the glow on the thrusters looks cool...

The arcadia gunpod release had this same upside down/right side up decal and it confused the heck out of me. Now that i see it on this model, I thought this was the correct setup.

But you're right about it not being depicted in the tv series or DYRL.

Still confused... :D

There is some debate. Here are a couple of threads that I referred to when I built my Hasegawa VF-1 Battroid recently. (Also, I referred to the Hasegawa VF-0 instructions.)

Pics of my build are here http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=35953&p=1228031 — my arrangement agrees with the pictures you posted above.

Thanks for sharing those links - I had been thinking about asking the same question recently. I may go the route of following the animation and leaving the lettering off the gun completely. I'll have to build one that way and see how it looks.

Probably leaving the stickers off the gunpod would be the safest way to go..then it free's up the sticker for something else ^_^

They really went the other way from Yamato by putting that head maybe a little too recessed into the chest.

The 1A head looks more 'unrecessed', so i think its just a matter of adjusting the neck and head positioning.

Waiting for more pics of their VF-31 line.

Really bored of the VF-1

Would really be interested to see how much detail they can pack into the VF31's. I cant imagine any moving turret parts tho, else would it be an insta-buy?

Probably will be discussed in another thread of its own for the tomytec VF31...

It's not likely to be a sticker. Maybe water slide decal but more likely that the lettering is already tampo printed on. Which means you'd have to find a way to remove the tampo printing or completely repaint the gunpod.

All the pictures apear to have an edge around the markings so I'm pretty sure they are either stickers or waterslides. There is also a picture of a decal sheet.

The decal sheet that's been shown is the one that only comes with the 2-mode bundle. Hard to say right now what the non-bundle kits will have. Gimix kits have never come with stickers so if decals are provided, it'll be the waterslide type.

Removing lettering is a common technique in the model railroad hobby. This video shows an example using Microscale's Microsol decal solution:

An alternate method is to use Scotch tape instead of the Q-tip to lift off the lettering after the Microsol has softened it.

i ordered this nearly a year ago from amiami, but the release date kept being pushed back.

finally got it yesterday.

http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=TOY-SCL2-40364&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_keywords%3Dcarrier+deck%24pagemax%3D40%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt%3D1

TOY-SCL2-40364.jpg

at the time i ordered it, i was wondering why it was so expensive (~$50) compared to 1/72 carrier deck bases i've bought which were half the price and twice the size of this 1/144 deck. but i bought it anyway given how rare 1/144 decks are, more so those which come with blast shields.

what i didn't realize then and found out when i opened the package, was that this deck had lighting features!

had i known then, i would've ordered a couple more, so if anyone can still find this available, please PM me. thanks.
