Sildani
HOW much?! Are these re-engineered Alphas or the same ones from a couple years back that had the QC issues?
DarrinG
Jenius explored a 'quantity' issue way back when -- about how they never even made the limited number they stated. So they could make more and not be violating their promise. ( insert jokes here about promises for better quality and no crumbling hands etc...) SuperSenpai
These had better be on another level in terms of build quality and QC if they are expecting us to pay $140 for those. Isn't that twice what they originally cost?
jenius
You can make out the prices in that picture? I think my eyes are going. They look exactly the same and Toynami has a rock solid reputation for two things:1) Not addressing issues2) Marketing vapor-ware So I expect we'll never see these for sale and if we do they'll be exactly the same as the first releases. Sorry, the price wasn't visible from the posted pic. Try this one: http://www.figures.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=575122&title=toynami&cat=20412 Pretty clearly says "MSRP: $140". They have to be smoking some seriously powerful weed to think we're going to fork over $140 if they're shipping the exact same product. That's getting into the territory of Bandai/Yamato/Arcadia releases which, while not without their own QC issues, were miles apart from what Toynami put out. From what I can recall, I thought the original MPC Alphas were $70-$80 retail. Granted, that was a few years ago, but I don't think it warrants nearly doubling the price, especially if it's the exact same crappy product. jenius
The Alphas were $79.99 and were available on Robotech.com for a long time for $59.99. I think I bought a couple for $39.99 at Gamestop.
SuperSenpai
EDIT: Sorry, I realize this is a WTB thread. I apologize for derailing the topic. I'll move the discussion over to the MOSPEADA thread in the Anime sub-forum. The Alphas were $79.99 and were available on Robotech.com for a long time for $59.99. I think I bought a couple for $39.99 at Gamestop. Ok, so street price was less than that. But assuming a similar pricing structure, that $140 Alpha gets discounted to around $100... that's still outrageous for that trainwreck of a product. That's just sheer arrogance on their part to think that people will pick those up at those prices. Then again, maybe people will go for it -- I think I see MPC Alphas going for that much on eBay.
