Nyankodevice
i started this back in 2011, but i got sidetracked in to various other projects! i simply love the design of this fighter, but this model not so much...yet. if bandai's 1/55 VF-1 was a chuncky monkey, this model is a flying Burger!! the only thing on this that is scale 1/100 or closest to, is the plane itself. the rest is way out of scale, well thats how it looks to me. i decided to rework it all to make it look like the linedrawings... as much as i like to make it look like this! it wont be possible in this scale with transformation _________________________________________________________________________________________________ first up was the back thruster parts, hollowed them out to make room for actual thrusters but when i revisited them i decided they where still to thick/big, so i made them thinner. more to come soon.... need to take some updated picture of the parts as they are now... Nyankodevice
Back when i first got the kit, one of the first things i noticed was the Gunpods. the upper gun is a Heavy Rail Gun and the lower is a Medium Rail Gun o_O nani?! the lower Gun would'nt even fit inside the storage space inside the left arm thats how big it is! you can kinda guess what i did next......modify modify! i made the Heavy Rail Gun slightly bigger and meaner looking... and made the Medium Rail Gun Smaller! and collapsible! Heres they are compared to the unmodified onces: and lastly as collapsed.
Nyankodevice
to show the difference between original and my reworked! now the nose took me along time to make (below) i couldn't quite place what made the nose look so off, then just recently it occured to me what was wrong... it wasnt thick enough.... so i made it look more whole and its still able to slide in under the chest plate. ill upload pictures of individual parts later! grapetang
Very nice! I love the base VF-2SS design (minus the SAP). What's the nose made from? Polyester putty or epoxy putty?

Mommar
I suppose I have to wonder why Bandai couldn't make their model as well as yours? Everything about your proportions are better.

I wonder though if we will ever get a modern CAD design toy or model

MechTech
Macross II gets a bum rap by some, but I've always loved that design. Awesome job on the upgrades and showing again what can be done with paper!-MT
GU-11
All I know of Macross II was that it was made without Dza Biggu Froating Head's involvement, and he's apparently still sore about it--never watched the anime, or even read the synopsis. The only thing that matters to me is that the VF-2SS is a gorgeous Valk, and you did an amazing job on what seems to be a rather wonky kit. Can't wait to see it all completed! P.S., I wonder if we'll ever see an updated kit or toy of the VF-2SS. Edited February 26, 2015 by GU-

I am doubtful about that, but that is my opinion.
SebastianP
This build looks really nice, and I kind of wish there was an 1/72 kit of the VF-2SS to go with all the other VF kits.

Mommar
And the greatest Vf-2SS award goes to Nyankodevice. I know it's a Bandai mod but you made it work better than it appears they've even been able to do with the new Hi-Metal version they've shown off.
