How did I miss this? That's a nice price for the DYRL Kakizaki set. I check jungle regularly, so it must have been picked up again fast. Max is still available on the site, though.

I ended up finding another VF-1A Kaki through yahoo.jp auctions to finish my squad. It was a higher price after the final bid, but YOLO. :)

It's funny how the tables have turned with Kakizaki.....he was the eternal shelf warmer when originally released.....now he commands a higher price than Max!!!

Congrats on the purchase....nothing wrong with paying a little extra if it is the last one you need!

Thank you, jvmacross. :)

Too true about Kakizaki. Discovering which Valkyries are now sought after, post Yamato, is an adventure all its own.

Damn, that's a good price! Anyone know how Jungle's grading is tho?... Are their B grade items pretty bad?

I've purchased a few Macross items from them at all of their grading levels....basically, a B grade is going to be in a "display" condition.....not played with or most likely never even transformed....they definitely cherry pick what they buy....

Hm ok. So you've never gotten anything B grade that you were terribly disappointed with, I take it? And there shouldn't be anything missing from the box, right?

Thanks for insight, jvm!

I have always felt their products were in great condition. I believe the only difference between their A and B is that A condition means the box was opened but the figure never removed or at minimum, never transformed. From my experience, I feel they are more particular about what they take in than Mandarake.

I have never ordered from Jungle, but I remember reading elsewhere on MWF that their shipping and handling charges are high. So you have to factor that in when you spot what looks like a good price. It may turn out to negate whatever deal you think you might be getting.

Well although I'd agree jungle charges higher shipping fees, I wouldnt say theyre super high. I shop at ju gle sometimes, and the most they would charge is about $5-10 more than normal. That, plus they charge you a 5% handling fees from the price of your item. Hope that helps.

they charge 5% for the item and the shipping, I use SAL but they seem reasonable to me.

The only gripe for me is that they dare to charge 5% for international purchase but they never bother to remove the 8% local taxes. Again, mandarake is better but there are less people camping at Jungle that sometimes, it is easier to get items at their store. (in rare cases, cheaper as well)

Haha, that's for sure... You aren't gonna find very many deals on eBay compared to... well, just about anywhere else really. :p

Thanks for all the info on Jungle and Mandrake, guys! I haven't gotten anything from either shop yet, but I'll definitely keep the tips in mind if and when I do.

Yeah definitely keep a close eye on Mandarake, I try to check it once every couple of days as they always have new stock coming in constantly, and I've never been disappointed in the service. I'd say about half of my collection came from them actually!

funny thing, woke up early on Sunday, casually browsing jungle, and there was a Hikaru 1A with strike parts just sitting idly on jungle.

needless to say, I just had to snag it cause its the only hole I need to complete my display (battroid + fighter mode hikaru) ... -_-

Finally made my 1st purchase from JUNGLE! (Thanks again to all you guys who helped out and offered tips!)

... Unfortunately, it didn't go too well. -_-

Consider this a mini rant if you must, but I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from shopping at JUNGLE as many here have had a great experience with them. But just so other noobs can make an educated choice to buy from JUNGLE or not, I just want to share what made my transaction with them not so favorable:

1. Shipping/handling fees - You guys weren't kidding... they charge a ton in fees! Sure, I was warned beforehand, but the final figure was still shocking. My total cost ended up being an addition 28% on top of the listed price.

2. Paid for an item listed as "A" but got a "B" - This one can be subjective since we're dealing with secondhand items here of course, but when they state on their site an A item as "Item new, only the outer box has been opened", then of course I'm not gonna be happy with receiving one that's obviously been more than just opened with some light scuffs on the valk itself, a display stand that's quite yellowed, and, worst of all, missing a part.

3. Mediocre customer service - They were fairly fast in responding, but when I wrote to complain about the condition of the item and the missing piece from the package, they offered 2 underwhelming options: either wait for them to get the same item again so they can send me the missing part (whenever that'll be) OR accept a refund of 1,000JPY (about $8). Seriously. $8. On a $250+ item. That's missing a part.

Luckily, after emailing back, they did finally increase the refund amount to 3,000JPY ($24). And they added the option to return the whole thing for a full refund. In the end, I took the 3,000JPY refund since they insist you use the cheapest possible return shipping if you go with the return option. Can't blame them for that, but that basically means a long shipping time and no additional insurance and I wasn't comfortable being without the item or my money for 2-4 weeks under those conditions.

In the end, I still overpaid by about ~$18 compared to the previous "B" listing of the same item even after the refund. (Yes, I had been camping at the site for a while and been tracking prices, lol.) But at least I got something back.

So that was my experience. Thanks for reading! ^_^

I have to agree with you on many points. The 5% on top of the padded shipping cost is a rip off. Funny enough i only seemed to have paid the correct shipping amount when i bundled 2 items together. Im not a big fan of them but it was the only place where i have been able to get a couple of these valks and at prices lower than yahoo auctions.

These are my mixed opinions on the orders I have made over the past month:

YF-21 Rank A - Everything seemed fine with this one. Looked new, overcharged me on shipping

VF-1S Strike Combo Rank A - Shoulders cracked to hell, overcharged me on shipping. Emailed them about it and never got a response.

VF-1A Kaki Strike Combo Rank B - This one looked new and even better than the previous rank A items. overcharged me on shipping

VT-1 Rank B - Looked brand new, cracked shoulders but i knew that already. Price was pretty good, combined shipping with the item below so the cost with was pretty accurate

VF-1S TV Super Valkyrie Combo Rank B - Valk had definitely been opened (no landing gear or wing tape) and some paint is worn on the shoulder pauldrons. Price was insanely good for this item and shipping was accurate because it was combined.

Those have been my experiences over the last few months. Now that ive caught up and got everything i wanted i dont think ill be using them again. Their ranking system doesnt mean a damn thing so its russian roulette with the actual condition of the item you will receive.

Thanks for that insight, anubis. Btw, those are some serious birds you scored! B)):hail:

It really is too bad that the ranking of their used items is such a crap shoot. Cuz even with high fees, I'm willing to pay a premium to get a nicer collectible. But of course, when you don't, it feels like a slap to the face. You can't help but feel gypped then.

Have you purchased from Mandarake, anubis? I know jvmacross mentioned that he feels Jungle is more picky about what they buy and sell than Mandarake... so that certainly doesn't bode well for them either then. At least they don't have the inflated fees I guess.

Like anubis pointed out, the lesson here is that if you're gonna buy secondhand items, consider yourself playing the lottery cuz the ranking will be all over the place. <_<

mandarake has always been pretty accurate in my experience but ive never bought any valks from them. For as much as Jungle is charging for some of these and the 5% tacked on you would think they would be more accurate with their description.

mandarake is pretty bad with description :p . Last time I bought a damaged box item, I can barely found any marks or damage on the box and on the item. A used Super parts has a very nice corners and the flaps has basically no stress on them.

Yes, mandarake and Jungle is not really comparable but I still check jungle listing since Mandarake has more competition.
