Franks & Sons weekly report.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

Hey i live in nor-cal, in Fremont to be exact. (Bay area)

I will be driving down south to Bot-Con in a few weeks, and i was thinking about stopping by and checking out this "Frank & Son" that i hear so much about.

Can anyone tell me if they are selling 1/48 Valks there, and what the price range is right now. Is it possible to find a 1/48 VF-1S Roy for under $150?

Thanks, any info could help.

Actually I think Treasure Island has a 1/48 Roy in. And it's the reissued version. I'm didn't check if it was there yesterday as I was more focused on looking for the GBP-1 armor for the 1/60 yammies. Anyway, if you want to get one, I suggest you go early to frank and sons as they tend to close early. They closed at 1:30 when I got there. So you better do what you gotta do at botcon and head out quickly to frank and sons. It'll probably take you like 40 minutes to get to frank and sons from botcon but that's with traffic. Without traffic, I'd say around 30 mins. Good luck! :p:D:lol:

Finds this weekend. Treasure Island is selling the VF-1J GBP armor set for $105.

The little shop at the far end of the corner near the bootleg video booth is selling the armor for just $45. My friend ended up bying the armor and then we hopped to treasure island to pick up the 1/60 VF-1J for $45 to put the armor on for a total of $90, saving $15 from buying the valk + armor set. I wouldn've bought the valk + armor set since I need the 1J, but afer seeing my friend save $15, I decided to wait.

On another note, there's a booth selling some of the reissue TRU Transformers for only $15. My friend ended up picking up Prowl.

wait what? Your friend picked up the 1/60 VF-1J for 45? And at treasure Island? I wasn't aware that the VF-1J was being sold alone. It's either sold with super armor, or with GBP-1 armor, but not alone. Are you sure it was 1J? or was it a 1S?

Oops, I meant he bought the VF-1S Roy, not the VF-1J separately.

I wasn't around when Treasure Island sold the armor & VF-1J for $100, but they were selling it for $105 on Saturday.

That's how much they were... $40 for just the armor (which sold out) and $100 for the set. He said the price might slightly go up, but they will definitely come down when the boat packages arrive.

Going to be headed to AnimeExpo next month and am planning on swinging by F&S. Problem is that last year I did this, all the dealers that sold Macross were closed up.

Does anyone think this is gonna happen again this year?

that or you got there too late cuz the main valk shop closes super early :(

Ahh! That would explain why it seemed a bit empty... Everyone at AX or maybe just ditching F&S cuz o the heat (was like +100°F, cheapie rental car tires melting on the asphalt!) Anyways, when does F&S open and what are the optimal times to be there?

Yeah you don't know how dissaponted i am about them raising the price of the 1/48 Roy.

A few weeks ago it was $135 at their store AND on "buy it now" on E-bay.

I live near Oakland in the Bay area, and was driving down to L.A. for the Bot-Con Transformers convention. So i was also planning on visiting this Frank & Son's everyone is always talking about. (My wife calls it Frank n Beans)

Anyways.....

Two weeks ago it was selling for $135 right, so i call Treasure Island at Frank & Beans and tell them i am driving down from a great distance, and i wanted to pay them via PayPal over the phone NOW and PICK it up during my visit there.

They have POOR communication over the phone by the way.

So they guys tells me "no", we have a lot so don't worry it will be there.

So i go down there on a Wednesday, and they were like the only ones CLOSED at Frank & Beans!!! DAMN!!

Then i get back home after Bot-Con and decide i'll just order it though them for $135 and just pay the shipping then.

Now they are selling it for $150 at Frank & Beans, $155 on e-bay (plus $11 tax and $11 shipping) and $179.99 at their website!!

WTF!?!?! :(

They do that a lot. You have no idea what time they'll be open and when they say they're gonna bring in somehting for you, good luck... the only thing they got going for them are they're good prices on most stuff.

Yeah Soze is pretty cool.

I have never bought from him, but i have exchanged PM's with him a few weeks ago in my search for a decent priced VF-1S Roy.

He didn't have it, so he referred me to his friend Max.

Max didn't have it either, but he did have the VF-1S Hikaru he was selling for $110.

He actually had several he was selling at that price, so i caved and got one of those.

So yeah Soze is cool, i hope i can do business with him in the future.

I'm kind of new around here, and i really appreciate Soze reffering me to an honest guy. Afterall, i just got ripped off by MechaFreak and if i got ripped off again my wife would KILL me!! ;)

Prices at Treasure Island came down a bit for some items. The 1/60 GBL + valk is now $95 from the $105 they were charging a few weeks back. Also, the Q-rau has come down from the $110-115 they were asking for to $95 as well.

On the other side of the show, the booth where the asian gentleman also sells Macross items, didn't see and of the GBP armors at all and he was completely out of the 1/48 super/strike pack sets. He did have some of the Hikaru 1/48s there though I didn't ask the price.

haha, yeah I know guys. I'm just asking what's new. Doesn't really mean I'ma go there and buy everything up. Soze, of course I'ma buy those items. That's one of the first things Ima do once I saved up enough that is. I've been unemployed for almost two months and are backed up on bills. Once I get back on track, I'll be meeting up with you. So this means I can't go to Comic con! :( Oh wellz. Next year will be a better year for me to going to cons. :p:lol::lol:
