Hard to tell with them standing in two different positions but if the VF-1 is 12.68m which is "spec" the VF-0S is only 13.3m where it should be 14m.  I'm not including the head lasers.

I'd say that's very close and the HMR VF-1 and VF-0S Battroids are more in scale to one another compared to the 1/60 scale Yamato/Arcadia VF-1 and Arcadia VF-0S Battroids.

I used the Ataru's Facebook photo to upscale VF-0S to its correct height/scale against VF-1S based on its official Battroid height specs. VF-1 Battroid at 12.68 meters and VF-0S at 14 meters. I used those numbers to the top of the head and not to the head lasers. I know most members will say that they're not standing straight. Yes, they're not, but I tweaked the legs straight in Photoshop so I can measure it properly and created a guide to be able to use it on the leg sprayed pose. And this is what I came up with. What do you guys think? ;)

The upscale does look better comparatively. As it is, Bandai appeared to have made the VF-0S about same height as the VF-4, & just a smidge shorter than the VF-2SS. Irregardless of the correct scales for both VF-1 & VF-0, we are so used to Yamato/Arcadia's comparative sizes that this just feels like Bandai made the VF-0S slightly bigger just to be able to say that it is larger than the VF-1.

Well, let's see how the fighter modes sizes stack up later..

Then see which of the pics shows one figure closer to 1.32 meters taller than the other figure if they were measured in meters.

Probably best to check the ratio of sizes than absolute heights, since 1.32 meters can mean very different things depending on total height. My quick back of envelope calcs have the VF-0S slightly less than 12% taller than the VF-1. So given this, the HMR definitely appears closer than the Yammie measurements.

VF-0S = 14.2m
VF-1 = 12.68m

Difference is 1.52m

1.52/12.68 = about 12% increase between Vf-0 and VF-1

Using @jenius's measurements for the Yammies:

Arcadia-VF-0S-PF-Focker-18-4K.jpg

VF-0S = 25.5cm
VF-1 = 21cm

Difference is 4.5cm

4.5cm/21cm = 21.4% increase between Yammie VF-0 and VF-1, almost twice what it should be.

Definitely the VF-0S is physically a bigger toy, but I'm not convinced it scales properly at all between them.

The HMR VF-1S is not true 1/100 scale (more like 1/90) and from the image one can see that the feet of the VF-0S have been over extended for increased height, which is not really the default position for Battroid mode.

Thanks for posting those comparison pics, noel!

I think the main reason for the confusion is that some people are assuming that Yamato/Arcadia's battroid height is accurate, but it's not. But it's not really Yamato/Arcadia's fault. Back when Yamato released their VF-0S in 2006, there weren't any published dimensions for battroid mode, just fighter mode. So Yamato probably just made an educated guess based off of fighter mode, resulting in a VF-0 battroid that towered over the VF-1 battroid.

Later on, the Macross Chronicle revealed the VF-0 battroid height as 14 meters, not that much taller than the VF-1's 12.68 meters. This wasn't an issue for Yamato, since their VF-0 toys were long discontinued by then.

When Arcadia released their VF-0 renewals in 2015, they most likely realized that Yamato's battroid height was way off, but probably didn't to upset fans by releasing an obviously smaller battroid that's supposed to be at the same scale. So they pretty much stuck with Yamato's dimensions and nobody noticed...until now.

You're welcome, @TheLoneWolf. :good:

After doing these images, I noticed consistently that scale-wise, VF-1 head should rest at the top portion of VF-0's chest. In which the HMR versions are not. But since HMR are non-scaled figures, I'll leave it at that. ;)

Excellent.  The VF-0S Battroid height is 14 m.

VF-0S = 14 m

VF-1 = 12.68 m

Difference is 1.32 m

1.32/12.68 = about 10.4% increase between the VF-0S and VF-1.

HMR VF-0S = 15.5 cm

HMR VF-1 = 14.3 cm

Difference is 1.2 cm

1.2/14.3 = about 8.4% increase between the HMR VF-0S and HMR VF-1.

Arcadia VF-0S = 25.5 cm

Yamato/Arcadia VF-1 = 21 cm

Difference is 4.5 cm

4.5/21 = about 21.4% increase between the Arcadia VF-0S and Yamato/Arcadia VF-1.

For anyone wondering:

The HMR VF-1 in Battroid mode is approximately 1/89 scale.  The HMR VF-0S in Battroid mode is approximately 1/90 scale.

The Yamato/Arcadia VF-1 in Battroid mode is approximately 1/60 scale.  The Arcadia VF-0S in Battroid mode is approximately 1/55 scale.

A question to all you lucky folk...

Does the the above fuselage tanks come off such that the plane (VF-0S) is completely clean? I will be finding this out when I get  my pre-order in Dec (BigBadToys in saying Dec 2022), but even so, I am curious.

The sculpt from what I gather, seems quite nice! I am looking forward to seeing the VF-0S & VF-1S clean side-by-side. These are my 1/60 Yamato VF-1S and Arcadia VF-0S.

Thanks!!

So that raises the question – what is Bandai doing differently with their VF-0S (transformation) to achieve better scale compatibility compared to Arcadia?

Indeed. This will be interesting...

Probably nothing different with transformation.  My guess is that Bandai just made Fighter mode a little shorter than actual length which in turn made Battroid mode more appropriately sized in height.

Thanks @no3Ljm - haven't ordered from them before. But seriously considering it. I've usually gone with HLJ - but missed their pre-order for the Hi-Metal VF-0S.

I have ordered a lot from AE so when I didn't get HLJ this go around I was able to get my PO with them. And since they have extra stock, I got an extra one as well.

Looks like DHL is handling for ¥3,500 JPY

Ok, thanks!

That's quite a bit cheaper than ami's 4879yen-DHL (4860-yen/EMS)  if it's for a single item shipment only.

As such, I ain't shipping my AE order yet since I'm waiting for my other stuff from them.
