Should WANTED listings be required to post a price range that the buyer is willing to pay based on things like item condition, etc?

This would be similar to the current requirement in the FOR SALE forum that requires the seller to post a price.

Curious to see if this would be beneficial, members thoughts, pros and cons, etc.....

I personally think it would be a good thing.

Anyone else agree or disagree?

For the seller it could be beneficial if they saw a higher price as it may persuade them to sell but that's not good for the buyer.

From a buyer perspective you want to spend as little as possible so by saying you want to spend X amount may make you pay more for an item when the seller would've let it go for less.

Also if your stated offer is to low people won't PM you at all. On rare items this is bad because you don't find out that member X has one available in case you decide to pay more later. I doubt anyone would check a wanted thread repeatedly just to see if you're willing to pay more later.

I say continue to leave it optional and let the two individuals own negotiation skills determine the price.

I don't see any reason for it.

You post what you want, if people can help you find it, all the better.

This forum also helps sellers find potential buyers easier, or point them to an auction. I wouldn't change my price based on what somebody offered. If we happen to be in the same ballpark we can discuss it in PMs.

If they can't afford it, or if you're not willing to negotiate other people will buy it.

I'd say no. I see the wanted section as equivalent to a for sale sign on the front yard of a house, IE: it's meant to generate interest - which leads to investigation - which could lead to a sale if the price is right, but that involves discussion.

My 2 cents.
