Nope, you can use the PS3 as a server for your Adhock games in the internet, but you must play in the PSP screen. If you want to play PSP games on a big screen just buy a cable and plug it to the TV, no PS3 needed.

There are an old program called irshell that works on PSP with CFW. it can redirect controller on PSP to other controllers on PC or a PS3 controller connected to PC via bluetooth or USB cable. The screen is still on PSP but you can use any joystick on PC to play the game. To view it on TV, use the cable for video output. But dunno is it still working on latest CFW for PSP now.

To play PSP games directly on PS3 there are something called COBRA USB to be used on Jailbreaked PS3. But the latest development on PS3 hacking scene, it's possible to emulate PSP games to be play as PSP minis on JB PS3. Dunno about the compatibility of macross PSP games playing directly on PS3 though.

Or just waiting for better PSP emulator on PC, just connect your PS3 controller to PC via BT/USB and load the game via emulator program and play it on your PC with high resolution graphics hehe..
