well said. Its easy to get in-over your head in collecting.

It's easy to get addicted and blow all your cash, that's for sure.

I think I heard it on one of those auction shows or American Pickers or something... but this old guy said something pretty interesting:

"If you're a collector there are only two things that can happen. You either run out of space or you run out of money."

Impulse control people! haha

I want a VF-27 but not from an international seller, and not for more than $250.

Actually, you may need to change your strategy, the cheapest way to get one will most likely be from an international seller once Bandai announces the pre-order.....which I am still unsure whether it will be a bundled VF + super parts combo or just the super parts.....does anyone on the board know for sure?

I would trade my VF-27 for a renewal VF-25s in similar condition. it's MIB been transformed a few times and I'm sure there is a paint rub somewhere. Box has shelfware too. I'm in the US...

That is actually a fair trade...for now, not sure what effect the re-release of a VF-27 would have on future pricing for it.....however....

The market price for the VF-25S renewal has actually dropped significantly since the announcement of the re-release of the VF-25F renewal....as it is very likely that a re-release of a VF-25S is soon to be announced....

Difference between the Yamato and Bandai market price for valk toys....Bandai is still making them...Yamato/Arcadia has gone stealth regarding Macross PT valks!

Bandai VF-25S renewal:

Effect on market price for Bandai VF-25F renewal after announcement of re-release and pre-orders....

Bandai VF-25F Renewal:

http://www.ebay.com/csc/i.html?_sop=3&_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=bandai+VF-25F+renewal+-tornado+-luca+-VF-25G+-Armored+-Super&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc

On Yahoo Japan Auctions....they are also no longer commanding the prices they once were....again...it's simply all about supply and demand........actual sales have nothing to do with scalping, the prices just reflect what the market can support...items "scalped" too high don't sell and get cast into our "auctions of great absurdity"......it is what it is.... -_-

These are only the Armored Parts not the Valkyrie itself. Think of it as a new dress for a Barbie. ;)

There are two add-on sets for the VF-25s Super and Armor Parts so be aware of what you buy.

This is the toy itself.

[edit: ] Man I should have bought the VF-25F Armored Parts when no reissue was announced. *sigh* If Bandai re-releases the Armored Parts for Alto I might buy one so I can get better intake covers and a correctly colored lining for the crotch armor.

That is just the armor.....

These are the actual valks: (all that is available at the moment and more or less the best prices anywhere right now...you could possibly wait until they are actually released to try and get a better price...but there is no guarantee that you will get one or find them for a lower price)

thank you! i doubt Bandai will close anytime soon so maybe we can expect more releases in future.

thank you! this is so tempting but it's expensive. i'll have to start saving up if i really want to get it. have bandai toys actually dropped in price after release?

what we can be probably be sure of is that bandai will still be around for a long time to come. so that means more supply and releases in the future i guess.

Prices have dropped only because of imminent and known about re-issues....the problem is that Bandai seems to limit the number of toys it actually produces for each valk...so it is anyone's guess as to the long-term effect on pricing....

You must choose...but choose wisely

I don't know about that. The Armored and Super Parts where Tamashii Web Shop exclusives and as far as I know Bandai reissue does not very often if at all.

For example the didn't reissue the Super Parts for the YF-29 when the re releases the actual Valkyrie.

I beg to differ. In comparison to similar big time manufacturers like Yamato, Good Smile, Alter, Megahouse, i would say Bandai are the only ones that does reissues the most frequently & regularly if any at all! When they first did the renewal, i have already anticipated the reissue to come out! What i didn't expected though was it was damned much harder(aka expensive) to get Alto's VF-25F the second time round!

Whereas, tamashi web exclusives are well, tamashi's so i wouldn't connect them directly to bandai themselves. They i agree are not very active in reissues. I would not bet on them putting up reissues anytime soon. I would understand their situation too as they are only providing optional parts and accessories and not a sellable item themselves. Therefore it does not make much business sense to go through another round of processing just for a small potential sales. Unlike the first round of renewal sales, i believe the 2nd round quantity pales in comparison to the first as the market gets saturated.

I Just got one. The same thing happened to me with the VF-25's- just got them, then v2's were announced. I barely broke even.

Wait, you buy valks to sell or something? I would imagine the more reissues there is more fans would get an opportunity to get one...

No, I meant it in the sense of; I purchased a v.1 VF-25 with the armored parts, and then the v.2 came out fixing all the flaws of the original. And at the time I had paid lets say $350 for the v.1- but now I wanted the newer, and I cant afford to buy it without selling the older one. You get it? I wouldnt want the same thing to happen to the VF-171 right now becasue I just got one.

The VF-171 doesn't seem to have any of the problems that the version 1 VF-25s had.

  • Line art accurate
  • Designed with Super Parts in mind
  • Sturdy material
  • Some sporadic QC issues
  • Besides the somewhat tricky transformation people seem to have no problems with it
  • Seems to have sold well

So I would doubt that Bandai sees the need to redo them except releasing a reissue but because Bandai are a bunch of crazy people you never know what happens next.

Ah I understand what you're going through. By all accounts Bandai should not have released ver 1 with so many flaws. I think the VF-171 is pretty decent as it is now though and any reissues would be the exact same design so you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

$20 says that either they planned too late or the project went tits up and they didn't have time to redo it before the bulk of Mac F fandom hit so they knowingly released an inferior product. For the 25 V.1 that is. The 171 is pretty much exactly like the show.

What makes the VF-X so special besides the livery? Any mold differences?

Or is it just a VF-1A in cool looking colors?

Before i would spend 1500€ on this i would rather pay someone to make a custom.
