After reading your post, I'm glad I never caught more than ten seconds when it was on toonami.

the series could be rather cute, you know. juvenile, to be certain, but often quite adorable all the same.

a great idea on the whole, IMHO...

DuelGundam2099 Wingnut takes on episode 25!

So many scientific inaccuracies with this series so let us begin. The episode starts with Captain Gundam in a mental manifestation while in the impossibly built bike mode. GunBike invites those saved by CG from control horns in earlier episodes (ugh, bad aesthetics and displeasing to look at due to lack of gravity stress taken into account). Using some mental wireless connection the robots run out of energy to revive CG, strange how this series was done before wifi was much of anything. Shoot goes to save his impossibly made Soul Drive with that junior bot from episode 9 helping him (only to do nothing). How does gravity not destroy these robots again? Baku and Zero keep fighting dogas, how those jet packs work is weird considering them must have a ton of fuel. That is not even taking into account what lightweights they must be. Shoot uses the illogical use of "magnetic" skates to skate up the control horn tower walls while dodging idiot zakus and their slow firearm projectiles. A jagd dogas chases Shoot and fires some missiles for the half-asleep CG to use one really strong cable to follow Shoot, assisting him against the Dark Axis. After three dogas are knocked out, Commander Sazabi tries testing the soul drive by.... Mentally controlling the Neotopian robots? Does this mean Commander Sazabi has organic brain waves or some- Gah. Shoot demands the soul drive be returned while Sazabi destroys a jagd doga and a bunch of geara dogas in cold blood. Honestly, what poor war tactics. Shoot's mom, Sayla, and the mayor are attacked by geara dogas only for Zero, Baku, and Commander Haro to save them and place them onto a gallop. The dogas display poor accuracy before Baku takes the rest of them out. Sazabi funnel spams Baku and Zero (how they are floating when there is gravity is baffling) while cackling maniacally until he is distracted by missiles long enough for Shoot to take the soul drive back. The soul drive.... SOMEHOW draws energy from the neotopian mobile suits, plus relics from Zero and Baku, charging it to a heightened power state as Zero and Baku fail at holding Commander Sazabi off. CG reverts back into his normal form (I wondered how that motorcycle form worked). While in the brain world, the bagubagu transforms into a seraphic creature and starts to reverse the petrification in Neotopia. CG missile spams the funnels while proclaiming he is back, all while somehow able to move with all that armor on him.

This series needs more hard science points I swear.

DuelGundam2099 Keith takes on episode 26!

Oh man this is going to be bad because of CGI and low quality and the etcetra. Like a bad kid show it actually bothers recapping the last episode to eat up our time with butt pulls up the wazoo. After pointless dialogue from background characters with weak writing we get Captain Gundam and Commander Sazabi trash talking before beam spam from the latter goes flying. Sazabi uses brute force while CG manages to out smart and outshoot him, I swear these accuracies are done because the plot wanted them to. Sazabi goes into a super speed mode which CG barely held his own against, even in his GunVehicle mode (honestly Bandai, could you not make enough toys?). One clash later Sazabi and CG lost their armaments which forces them to use their beam sabers. After CG lost his beam saber he uses his not-God Finger to destroy Sazabi's beam sabers (renamed heat sabers in the dub, man could these writers be any more hoaky?). A punching contest ensues as everyone watches the two beat the armor and arms off each other until CG eventually wins like the plot demanded. However, in a weak twist, Sazabi had a soul drive too wit him offering CG a chance of power. What generic villainy. Sazabi's soul drive is destroyed, causing the Horn of War to collapse while leaving no collateral damage. Everyone acts happy like the sappy show this is trying to be. After a random fourth wall joke, the laid-back professor finds a dimension transport device just as some other robots acquire their energy back. Meanwhile, the first villain trio complains about how long they were knocked out before the SD Force arrests them with zakus helping the rebuilding.... For some reason. The dimensional transporter from earlier in the series is revealed to be working, making Zero and Baku jump for joy. Oh yeah and some darker evil force laughs as second half foreshadowing.

No wonder Cartoon Network pulled the plug on this series at the half way point.

DuelGundam2099 Marzan takes on episode 27!

This looks cute and nice and adorable and whatnot. The episode starts with some Zeong-like head talking in gibberish with Gebera calming him down as we find out that ghost minion of Tallgeese is actually Deathscythe.... as a poltergeist? Regardless he actually works for the Dark Axis. The general wants some material called gundanium and Sazabi's death being ticked off. A Master Gundam knockoff named Kibaohmaru makes himself known saying Arc might be attacked and a mini-musha gundam comments in the background saying he found them. After some amusing comedy from Baku and Zero, Professor Bellwood rebuilds the Zakurello gate with Shoot and Captain showing up with the former acquiring a new gundam-like backpack and the latter arrives on a cutesy Sallis, which is actually the Magna Musai reconstructed. Three zakus in the background are horrified until they realize they can use it to get home like the moes that they are. Commander Haro wishes them well while being reluctant to let Shoot go. The bridge of the Sallis- err I mean Gundam Musai even has an AI named Raimi to make sure nobody fights, making the moment all "D'AWE" even if leaving Entango makes no sense. As the Gundam Musai leaves, the zakus board it via tickling the Zakurello gate which is adorable. Meanwhile, the mini-musha gundam Gekkimaru tries to killed not-Master Gundam only to fail horribly. Thee cuddly gundam is considered to be killed if not for the interest in his teleporting spell and the Gundam Musai entering the general's fortress by accident. Baku and Zero identify Kiba and Deathscythe, respectively, and attack them head on. Zeong uses his floating hand to fire a mega particle cannon that reflects all over the place. Geki gets rescued by Shoot and CG and the latter orders the others to retreat. Just as they get away, Cobramaru sneaks aboard the Gundam Musai. The episode ends with the flying ship in a weird gravity-less dimension and it looks pretty. The Zakozako Hour talks about playing opposum and how they lost the Magna Musai as it became the Gundam Musai.

So much moe to go around.

DuelGundam2099 Gubaba takes on episode 28!

DG enjoys it so it must be bad and be made of antimatter or something. So yeah, some bubbly dimension like in an early Ideon episode prevents the Zakurello gate from opening. Gekimaru tries to escape thinking everyone is an enemy even after corniness from Bakumetsumaru. Geki tries escaping via an elevador in super cartoony fashion with a pair of Elmeth mice for cutness. Geki falls out of the ship while Zero saves them and try to explain while the mini-musha thinks the ship is haunted. After a mini-clip show, Geki farts and Baku makes a fan to smack him and explains his civalry only for it to blow up in his face after another mini-clip show. Next, Zero does his mini-clip show to Gekimaru and.... DG over reacted on the use of roses maybe or something. On an unrelated note, we finally see the princess of Lacroa. Geki calls Lacroa lame and calls Zero a coward before Captain does some cool poses.... and another clip show. Good lord DG, you don't mind stoc footage? You are such an inhuman monster, most likely from Yuggoth, tell the Mi-Go we want them to get lost. Geki is still unimpressed even after a basic speech about the Soul Drive. Sayla contacts the ship with Professor Dellwood trying to figure out where everyone is and Zero figures out they are in the Minial Boundry Sea or something- I have no idea how to spell it. Geki sneaks off with some cake and starts munching on it with Shoot getting ticked off. Cobramaru and the zakus are shown with the ship flying off into the abyss. The Zakozako Hour talks about how they're stuck and regretting tickling the Zakurello gate.

I swear the bad tastes and the good tastes and etcetra.

DuelGundam2099 Major Focker takes on episode 29!

Oh boy here comes the sausage fest. So the episode starts in the Minov Boundry Sea with Gekimaru eating food because he is a jerk and a virgn although that second part is not mentioned. Shoot uses his beam saber.... that shoots green goo? It sticks the kid in place. Meanwhile, the Dark Axis gets ticked off by not finding the Gundam Musai and not having hookers although that second part is not mentioned. Deathscythe proposes to capture them alive to melt the gundams down. Cobramaru is ordered by his master to capture them and their ship while he reads a hidden message, I swear nobody gets time to look at porn. Raimi gets hijacked by Cobramaru, probably counts as rape everywhere outside of Kansas, and uses his cobra as a double. Meanwhile, Professor Dellwood fails at sending bananas with Gekimaru still stealing all the food, such a turnoff. Bakumetsumaru tries to discipline him with little effort and a lot of anger. Remember kids, use birth control or this will happen! Meanwhile, Cobramaru's double starts bombing the outside of the ship complete with a flaming introduction. Zero and Baku try to fight off the ninja gundam while Captain tries to equip himself with a new twin beam saber-cannon pack. At the same time Cobramaru catches Gekimaru while his pet gets blasted off the ship with the Triple Attack. That poor pet won't get laid for a while. The attack causes a fissure that acts like a blackhole. Shoot tries to save Gekimaru while dodging Cobramaru's shurikens as we find out a phone used to open the Zakurello gate is alive sort of. Real shame you cannot pick up chicks with it. Eventually Geki farts hard enough which leads CM to get stuck on a glue filled with glue. After imprisoning Cobramaru, the heroes report to Commander Haro about the situation and fail at getting rice balls through. The Zakozako Hour talks about something less interesting than babes, specifically how Zaku Red is the reason they cannot use the Zakurello gate and they complain about their technology being stolen.

And here I thought chicks would dig giant robots.

Alright folks, after this I'll make a parody review if this was done by the infamous Clawshrimpy, after that I will go back to the normal reviews. Sorry antibiotictab and Vifam7, I had no good material.

DuelGundam2099 David Hington takes on episode 30!

After the typical "what happened last time" recap the episode starts out with Zapper Zaku scrubbing the ship's floors with the zakus confused and terrified about their boss's new tone. Sayla contacts the heroes with Shoot and Zero acting like big hams. Bakumetsumaru and Captain try testing their powers to see how far they can use their powers without a wormhole opening while Gekimaru screws everything up. Why would a Gundam Wing mobile suit have an I-Field- Oh screw it. Meanwhile, Grappler Gouf and Destroyer Dom attempt to ripoff Metal Gear Solid as they come across their lost soldiers. They take them to Zapper Zaku as he waters a flower. It is eventually revealed that he was reprogrammed at Robot House which seems more like Gitmo brainwashing. Meanwhile, Gerbera and Kibaohmaru bicker over who is better at.... Having a bigger military? It is silly regardless. Meanwhile, Deathscythe finds the ancient saber of Epyon in front of the petrified princess and sends it to Minov. Meanwhile, Gekimary harasses the Dark Axis for no reason and wins them over with promise of their former weapons.... Which Zapper Zaku sends down a trapdoor. Seeing how Zapper Zaku flipping out over a mop breaking, Gekimaru tricks him into leading a charge to the bridge with zakus following. A fight ensues with the Dark Axis generals showing that they have improved over time. After Shoot takes Gekimaru, Zapper Zaku regains his.... Well, I would not say senses, but let us just say his former self. Eventually they are defeated and Zapper Zaku becomes sappy again with Gekimaru disappointed. The Zakozako Hour tells about how Grappler Gouf and Destroyer Dom snuck onto the ship and escape custody. I admit, seeing the latter getting trapped in a mouse trap was priceless.

And everybody gets board warnings!

DuelGundam2099 Clawshrimpy takes on episode 31!

So on this episode of baby robots fighting other baby robots we start with boring old stock footage on what happened last time. I swear this would have never happened with GaoGaiGar! 3G assemble! So yeah, Mercurius and Vayate try keeping Tallgeese alive with magical oreo cookies or something after getting attacked by a dragon Wing Zero custom. A sword beats the two up and Tallgeese goes falling like GaoGaiGar FINAL's quality of entertainment. He is somehow revived by the powers of magic with Deathscythe contacting everyone by telling them to get to the Gundam Musai. I swear these guys are so inferior to the zondarians. Anyway, the evil sword Epyon possesses Tallgeese and causes him to absorb is minions because he became evil for no reason. During this Deathscythe acts like he has a stone fetish for the petrified princess. During this, Gekimaru steals Bakumetsumar's rice balls because he is such a turd although this is interrupted by Tallgeese. After Baku gets thrown onto the bridge, more zaku antics occur before Zero fails at ripping off the Goldion Hammer with his sword and shield. A typical sword fight occurs instead of magnum breaking, costing Zero to get thrown with Baku. Zero explains that the Epyon sword absorbs power since it is generic evil and whatnot. While Tallgeese goes on rape mode, Deathscythe comments to the princess how he betrayed his ally just to screw you.... How is that possible if he is just a floating ball? Anyway, Tallgeese becomes more angry to the point of hating the Gundam Musai's face because it is a gundam face. Eventuallly the gundams use their Heaven and Hell knockoffs complete with low-brow use of stock footage, causing the sword to separate only for it to magically fly back and turn him into.... Epyon Gundam? Yeah, Epyon Gundam. He comments on how his revival is not complete. The Zakozako hour uses stock footage much like a CE gundam series and how the universe is called Soladiarama or something with Neotopia is in another one.

Alright, as some of you may know after episode 32 I just marathoned the rest of the series so I'll summarize my thoughts starting with a basic plot summary of what happens after:

Berserker Epyon goes on a rampage until he leads the crew to Lacroa, Zero defeats him but there is separation, an imitation princess is created by Deathscythe, eventually D is revealed to be one of Zero's cohorts who betrayed everyone to become human to marry princess Reli, the real one is rescued after everyone is back together, antics ensue, Professor Gerbera is revealed to be a gundam named Madnug, Kibaomaru captures Shute and the Princess while having his four minions (based on the Four Heavenly Kings from G Gundam, making me find out he was based on Zeus Gundam), Captain is sent back to Neotopia for upgrades while everyone else lands in Arc, Baku eventually proves his worth, CG comes back as Hyper Captain with GunBike coming back upgraded as Gun Panzer, after a bunch of trickery Reli and Shute escape Kiba's mobile castle while saying a giant war god (a not-Devil Gundam with too long a name for me to remember off the top of my head) is underneath, Genkimaru is revealed to be Kibaomaru's son and eventually takes control of the god because he is a Virtue, Cobramaru becomes an exile and eventually a good guy, after the battle for Arc General Zeong uses his many horn roots to annihilate the universe, Madnug is revealed to be Captain's successor from the future who has grown to hate humans, the battle for friendship ensues, and Zeong is defeated by the power of the main trio, and a happy ending all around with a dumb cliffhanger ending about patrolling the universe.

Now with the rest of the spoilers out of the way I'll finally give my actual thoughts:

Very under rated series. While it is very childish, I was surprised by how much details they put into it that amounted to either good foreshadowing or would excuse future moments from being utter butt-pulls. No character annoyed me, that was a plus, even if they had over the top silly moments. The villains were surprisingly well executed although Epyon and Sazabi could have had more than just one battle. The music was somewhat good, which is not something I can say for a lot of anime I have been watching lately. It eventually does amount to unexpected entertainment and it is so well executed that it is better than a very solid chunk of "real" gundam series, OVAs, and movies.

With that said, here is where I rank this series among the man anime I have watched:
