Set for release on June 6, 2014 is Edge of Tomorrow, the Hollywood adaptation of the sci-fi novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Directed by Doug Liman (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jumper) the film stars Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton.

The screenplay was originally written by Dante Harper, but it underwent numerous revisions under Joby Harold (Awake), Steve Kloves (the Harry Potter series, The Amazing Spider-Man), Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, The Wolverine), Tim Kring (Crossing Jordan, Heroes), Jez Butterworth (Fair Game), Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman (Transformers, Star Trek). This is already not a good sign.

Hmm, it's Groundhog Day - in Space!

Plot

The story is told from the perspective of Keiji Kiriya, a new recruit in the United Defense Force which fights against the mysterious 'Mimics' which have laid siege to Earth. Keiji is killed on his first sortie, but through some inexplicable phenomenon wakes up having returned to the day before the battle, only to find himself caught in a time loop as his death and resurrection repeats time and time again. Keiji's skill as a soldier grows as he passes through each time loop in a desperate attempt to change his fate.

Tropic Thunder is not a Tom Cruise movie, he is in it, but he is not the focus.

Cruise can make some good movies, but I don't like what I see so far with this one. I mean why make an exoskeleton like that with no additional armor to protect the pilot. It's almost as bad as those stupid mechs in the Matrix sequels.

Also, care chases, really why? Were the battles scenes not enough?
