Is that Myria/Millia or just a bridge bunny?

if they made her in her SDFM Meltran uniform with a Zentradi seat it would be a must buy for me.

It's a custom. Shammy's body with Millia's head.

I've been looking around for some Klan Klang figures, and came across again the "Ichiban Kuji" prize figures. Some questions:

- Is there like a database of all the different varieties? I'm noticing that a bunch of them are just recolors of each other.

- What does "ichiban kuji" translate to? Is it a brand/line name? a descriptor?

- A Plamoya-specific question: Do they refund you excess shipping cost if the actual is less than what's calculated? Do they charge you more if the opposite is true? I see some of these items having $20-40 shipping costs.

Thanks much, all. Fortunately for me, Klan doesn't have as many figures as Ranka and Sheryl... though seems to have a whole lot of "cosplay" figures with characters from other shows donning her micronized outfit.

I think MyFigureCollection would be a good start: https://myfigurecollection.net/entry/1744

To my knowledge Ichiban Kuji figures are prices for raffles. Maybe these crane games that Japanese seem to love so much also fall under this category. They can from different companies. Banpresto seems to be one of the primary manufacturers for such goods.

Hope that helps.

Never ordered from Plamoya myself so I can't help you with that.

If you're looking for a Klan Klang figure, there's only one real option: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10119516

If you can find one, that is.

I am definitely on the lookout for that one especially. There are two other Klan figures (both prize figures) I'm keen on, one in macro and one in micro form. The macro is her in her pilot uniform (there's a silver recolor as well), and the micro is her in her black and purple... jumpsuit?... thing. There's also one more (aside from various small-scale figures), but it's of her micro form... in a swimsuit... and yeah, that doesn't really speak to me.

That most certainly does help. Thanks very much, I didn't know MFC allowed sorting by character.

Here's where I got a copy of the Armored figure from: https://plamoya.com/en/excellent-model-macross-frontier-klan-klang-armored-ver-pvc-figu-p-24005.html

They've raised the price a bit since I got it though.

[edit] Looks like it's about the same price as Ebay. You could use that 15% off coupon.

Here's one of the plan Klang versions you were looking at next to a 1/48 valk. Jungle has the silver version for about $25

Thanks for the link. I'm probably gonna skip this figure altogether for now; too many purchases recently and upcoming. Gonna bookmark it for safekeeping, though. Hopefully it'll still be available in a few months' time or so.

Managed to snag the silver one for ~1000 JPY (plus ~1000 in domestic shipping, proxy fee, etc.) from YJA. I didn't particularly want it, but I figure at that price you may as well. That sure is a sizeable figure. 1/60 Valks are already more than big enough for me, and she dwarfs that 1/48. Granted, the VF-1 is smaller than the rest, but still. You're building up my hype now. :D

I like Klan Klang too.  The most recommended one is Armored Kllan (from Megahouse) as Sanity already stated.

The Ichiban Kuji Klan in dragonstar's pic is also nice.  It also comes with a silver paint version.

P.S. Ichiban Kuji  is a lottery that you pay to draw.  Prizes range from figures to glasses to towels to poster, etc.

There is also a micro Klan from Megahouse: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10077137

and this: http://www.xl-shop.com/xlshop/pages/BANP-459456/banpresto-macross-frontier-klan-klang-snap-fit-dx-pvc-figure

A gashapon in this set: https://eyeforthings.wordpress.com/2010/01/24/macross-frontier-action-figures-from-bandai/

Excluding the SD figures...  I think that is it.

Dear folks,
After several days of research, I've come to the conclusion that I need some assistance :-)

I'm trying to set up my Macross display stand, and I would like to "match" a (hopefully tiny) figure with their relevant Valk:
- Messer's VF-31 with Kaname figure

- Michael's VF-25 with Klang

- etc, hope you get the picture.

I was checking the Banpresto SQ figure series, but they are really tall, 19cm, almost as tall as a Valk!

Wondering if you guys have any recommendation for a figure Series to achieve this (no need for articulation).

Halp! ... and thanks

The playmax figures are smaller, about half the size at around 9cm.

Yes. You need to paint those if you want it to look good. But it's already comes with 'eye' decal. The other ones that still needs painting are the Bandai Figure-Rise Bust which is like 14cm in height. But that's a minimal thing unless you really wanted to look good. It's already color molded so you can just snapbuilt it.

This is how it looks like after building it.

Sample with a 1/72 VF-31F for size comparison.

How do you want the size to be? Small figure, big VF? Vice versa? "Zentraedi-scale" figure with the VF?

If you want a small figure, I second @Slave IV's recommendation. The Playmax minimum factory 1/20 kits are the smallest you'll get for Macross Delta (the line also has Ranka/Sheryl for Frontier and Minmay for SDFM). They're roughly 8cm tall.

There are also the Tamacolle acrylic keychain stands. I don't think that's what you're looking for, though: https://hlj.com/product/BANN07938

For Frontier, I've seen some ~10cm mini-figures around. Ebay link has a set of them for ~$36 shipped: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bandai-Macross-F-CharaColle-5Figures-Sheryl-Klan-Ranka-Alto-Mini-Figure-Japan/292479178752?hash=item44191e1800:g:JU0AAOSw9uBal2ww

More Frontier - "Half Age Girls" (dat name... -_-): https://myfigurecollection.net/entry/50492

@no3Ljm's Figure-rise bust recc is solid, too, if you're willing to put up with half a figure.

I believe @Saburo has taken a bunch of pictures of various VF-31s with their respective SQ Figure/Figuarts Zero figures, and the size might not be as equitable as you think. Look through the VF-31 toy thread, that should get you an idea of how well they work together. (He's also paired them with... I think it's Space Battleship Yamato figures, and those look faaaantastic.)

If you're looking for small VFs with big figures, you can get inexpensive non-scale (~1/200) Mecha Collection kits of the Delta VFs (eg. https://hlj.com/product/BANN06311) and 1/100 kits of the Frontier VFs (https://hlj.com/product/BAN967079) and match them with the various SQ Figures/Figuarts/etc.

And lastly, search for "Ichiban Kuji" prize figures, those might be to your liking as well. I don't know the size myself, though I believe they're the same as SQ Figures. Get the Klan Klang one next to Michel's VF-25G and you can even pretend they're the same scale! :p https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Macross-prize-premium-figure/dp/B003NVN3DY

This is all just me dumping all the searches I've done the past week or so; I've been trawling through the Macross figure cesspool as well, lol. Forgive the half-dozen links.

EDIT:

Oh, also this might be a thing in the future: DZW9gloWsAAW6tW.jpg

"Figure-rise Labo," the line is called. Yes, that is a model kit.

Depends on what you mean by tiny. Unless you're talking about 1/60 scale figures, then the smallest figures you could buy would be be the Plamax line, which really don't look like that great without painting them yourself. You can also try picking up the Banpresto game prize figures. They're pretty cheap and of decent quality, but not as big as the Frontier figures.

Sorry, the only pic I have of them atm is my old Kaname & 31F shot.

Dear chaps,

Thanks a lot for all the info, pictures and links (except for that "half age" that probably put me on a gov list...). Yeah those Saburo's pictures of the valks with their "muse" (perfect word btw) is what I was looking for. Since I'm horrible at artistic stuff, I'll stay way from anything that requires precision skills on my side.

Looking at the pictures again, I think that I can raise the ground level of the valk, so that way you can still see both items.

Thanks a lot for all the ideas, please keep them coming

Ugh, yeah, when I chanced upon that line I groaned to myself and shook my head muttering "Why, Japan? Why are you like this?"

There's also the Deculture model kits, if you're into the whole "itasha" car decal thing. The 1/72 are transformable but rare, and the 1/100 ones are fighter mode only and still pretty easily found. Both can be built without needing glue and both come with stickers for the decals, though the 1/72 also comes with waterslides.

1/72: https://hlj.com/search/go?w=deculture

1/100:

Ranka - https://hlj.com/product/BAN970389
Sheryl - https://hlj.com/product/BAN970390

Other than that... I dunno, maybe you could use some Sailor Moon figures to pair with the DXes? :D

(actually now I think about it... Mercury with 31J, Venus with 31E, Moon with... 31S? maybe the Roid SV-262Hs?, Mars with 31C, and I guess Jupiter with 31F/262Ba...)

Argh I'd be willing to pay good money for some high quality completed figures of the Macross cast.

Same here. I'm hoping that people are watching these small figures and will eventually give us at least Hikaru, Minmay, Misa, Max, and perhaps a few others in a decent figure scale.

Decent, you say? I'm pretty sure KitzConcept offering is decent enough. Atleast some small company is taking stab at it. ;)
