03/15 release-date

I don't see how it can have a 3/15 release date when it's a scratch built model.

I don't see how it can have a 3/15 release date when it's a scratch built model.

The model is scratchbuilt except for the use of the 1/1000 scale Core Ship. The March 15th release date is not for the model but for the Hobby Japan mook that is coming out in that date and features this and other models. As stated in the text this is a sample image from that mook. Here's the link for the HLJ page (which actually lists it as coming out this month):

http://www.hlj.com/product/HBJ60954/Boo

Recommend me a Yamato 2199 'Art of' book.

There are quite a few out there, even if you don't count the 9 program booklets that came out with each theatrical release and the Pia Mook.

If you want just an comprehensive look at mecha and characters, go with the "Earth" and "Garmillas" artbooks.

There is also:

- "Yamato Re:Mechanics" booklet;

- "Yamato Exhibit" booklet;

- "SBY2199: Naoyuki Katoh ARTWORKS";

- "SBY2199: The Art of Nobuteru Yuuki", volumes 1 and 2;

- the just released "SBY2199: Initial Character Design & Rough Illustration Collection"by The Man in the High Castle (Yuuki's doujinshi alias);

- and the motherload that is the "SBY2199 Complete Works", a 3 hardcover volumes collection (only volumes 1 and 2 have yet been released with volume 3 coming in april).

So, there's no shortage of material out there.

Some of my Yamato 2199 1/72 collection. For your viewing pleasure :)

With a Falcon Black Tiger paint scheme in honour of the original series

I over gunned the Zero-02 it's got well above its usual missile payload, I wanted it to be a real ready alert fighter, so sorry in advance to those loyalists out there.

Since these shots were taken a Zero-01 has been added in, I will take some more shots if you guys want it, I don't want to smash this thread with model pics in case it's supposed to be in another section just let me know,

I'd say you should receive One Smash Allowance, just for the awesomeness of those models! Great work. And yes, 'please, sir, may I have some more..?'

Thanks so much for the kind words guys!

I am going to post a stack more photos, hope that is okay, I don't want to upset any forum admins.

Also something special for Valks to the rescue ;)

Ok, its been awhile, but finally finished my GX-64 toy repaint. Deciding on repainting the deck slowed me down a bit. Mostly what bothered me was the lack of white tiny decal markings on the toy, so I searched around and found a cheap 1/700 scale Typhoon sub that had these small white waterline markings it was $7 so it was like buying a decal sheet. The thick plastic fence for the railing in the front bothered me too, so I also got a 1/700 photo etched detail set at the hobby store on sale - it included a bunch of stairs that I folded up which I used too (man these are small!!!). In fact they are so small that in the end, when I attached them, you could hardly see them anymore since they've been painted grey. I put in a set by the catapults as shown int he sketches for crew access to the planes while on the catapult. Also a set by the doors below and some sprinkled throughout the deck. For the amount of pain and hassle, I don't think they're worth it as you can hardly see them unless you were looking for them Over all I just gave it a dark wash to pick out the recessed areas and a white dry brushing with the Tamiya weathering powders, some pencil graphite rub stick at the panels and a future/matte clear coat to seal it all in to allow handling.

Hope you guys like it.

Outstanding work William! I thought that the photo-etch was a pain on the 1/500, but, YIKES! 1/700!!

I agree with UN Spacy, this thing really should have had the markings on it in the first place. Though, it looks like you found PERFECT replacements, bravo!

VERY LAST

Because I know you will ask, here are some shots with a 1/72 fleet of Valks to the rescue

And a Battlepod again, for scale ;)

Thanks for posting! Yeah, the Strike Valk looks great in the crowd....just adds a sense of "kick-ass" to the fleet.

I just lucked into it at the hobby store and asked the clerk to open it so I could see the decals.

Try here;

https://www.google.ca/search?q=hobbyboss+1/700+russian+navy+typhoon+class&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=FJC2VNXnM8qpyAS_xYDoAg

There's a shot of the decals on the images tab - and its on ebay too, although it seems to be discontinued or sold out at HLJ. Good luck.

Sorry to bother you guys, but was wondering if someone would be kind enough to brig me up to speed. Has the series been redone? Is there anywhere on the net I can watch it if it is? I tried reading random pages but couldnt find the answer, thanks in advance.

Oh it's been redone and the series is out there. Google it for more information. If you have the cash I'd recommend hopping onto Amazon Japan and maybe picking up the blu rays. Welcome aboard...
