Also known as Hamefura.

The main character is such a derp, manages to act half the age of everyone else, despite having "lived" twice as long. It's great.

I started Cowboy Bebop and wondered why i never watched this.  I am flying through this.

That show is just solid gold.  Absolutely solid gold.  The very first anime that ever got my broke-ass student self to open up his wallet and buy it on home video.

I've been continuing to follow Reincarnated into an Otome Game as a Villainess With Only Destruction Flags… and it continues to be a surprisingly pure and genuinely funny show.  I've always rather liked that kind of self-aware self-parody that you get in reverse-harem shows, and HameFura definitely delivers on that front.  It's been a while since I've had a show that I'm actually looking forward to each week, and in these troubling times its lighthearted tone and content really just hit the spot.

The Eighth Son? That Can't Be Right! is turning out more or less how I expected.  It's a very generic, very by-the-numbers isekai story about a Japanese salaryman who is reincarnated in a fantasy world where he's an overpowered hero.  It's also unmistakably being made on the cheap, even as anime goes, with some of the worst CG animation I've seen in years.  The CG used for the golems in particular would've been awesome in 1994 but now just looks like some high school DeviantArt project.

While catching up during this lean season, I started The Irregular at Magic High School.  I can't shake the feeling I'm basically watching Full Metal Panic!: Wizards Edition.  I get the feeling there's a LOT of content from the light novel that absolutely did not make it into the show, because there's a bunch of long contemplative sequences where it feels like there ought to have been an inner monologue or something.  The main character just comes off as a boring, invincible, hyper-competent hero... like what I'd expect from a bad isekai series.

I've been hosting a weekly watch party for some friends on Discord who haven't seen Jojo's Bizarre Adventure yet.  We're a few episodes into Stardust Crusaders: Battle in Egypt, and it's every bit as good as I remember it being.

Looking at possibly re-attempting Aldnoah.Zero, or starting on Eromanga Sensei, Himouto! Umari-chan, Today's Menu for the Emiya Family, or Love, Chunibyo, and Other Delusions.

(Also rather looking forward to rewatching Golden Boy, since Crunchyroll seems to have stealthily picked that one up.)

Not wrong on the missing content part. There is a LOT missing. Including some backstory that explains Tatsuya and Miyuki's relationship and his powers. Though later Miyuki will explain the price for that power and just imagining it made my skin crawl.

While the series runs the first seven volumes of the LN, they pretty much skipped all of vol 5.

probably the recent Isekai that I welcome. Simple and Fun, maybe a potential watch out for those who dont like Reverse Harem show.

I am finally getting to watch the Clannad movie. I hope it does not kill me as much as the series did, emotionally.

ACK!!  Avoid!

Well at least you have seen the series,  but the movie was bad,

I love this show, Uchida Maaya does a great job with all those voices.

It's so pure, lighthearted, and fun... it's the perfect counterpoint to the rather upsetting times we live in.

It's got none of the usual fanservice you expect from a show like that, and sells itself entirely on the strengths of its characters.  It's got a very all-ages appeal to it, IMO.

I heard it was bad and Nakamura Yuuichi is not even the voice of Tomoya.  After Story is my top 5 series ever. It has 3 little words that make me cry every time..  Hajimete Papa ga.

I thought I might enjoy Hamefura, but four or five episodes in and I'm not really feeling it. It just doesn't have the zany wackiness I expected from its premise. Mah... Oh well.

Zany is definitely not a word I'd have used for it.  It's not a pure comedy so much as it is a slice of life about an incredibly dense girl whose efforts to avoid a terrible fate turned a love story on its ear and continually exasperate all the love interests that she doesn't know she has.

It's meant to be an affectionate parody of a typical otome game.

It is very rare to have a show with that kind of focus and themes with almost no fanservice. Very entertaining in an otherwise muted anime season.

Agreed - this is a surprisingly enjoyable show with a lot of feel-good vibes for me

Also watching Kayuga-Sama season 2 and really enjoying that.

Sing Yesterday to Me: ok for the most part, very melancholy though

Tower of God; ok but not super into it for some reason

Dorohedoro; loved this, very unusual and bloody though, needs more episodes

If you have not seen the movie be sure to watch it too.  An excellent side story.

I watched the movie it was good.  It just seemed like a overly long episode.

So I've started watching Today's Menu for the Emiya Family... and apart from being an extremely low-rent attempt to get on the cooking show bandwagon Shokugeki no Soma started, it reminds me of nothing quite so much as a gag from Excel Saga about how shoujo anime increases bloom and highlights by like 15%.  A bland and inoffensive mixture of Fate fanservice and food porn without the actual porn of Fate or borderline porn of Shokugeki no Soma.  It kind of tries to be a cooking tutorial, but without showing enough to actually useful in that regard either... so unremarkable it's average!

Spoiler

If you've seen/played Fate/stay night or its various branch stories, it feels a bit odd to see some of these characters getting along so peacefully... especially the Matou family, given that...

Spoiler

... foster child Sakura's resentful "brother" was sexually abusing her and generally making her life a living hell for pretty much the entirety of the original story.

Some of it is pretty appropriate, though, like Caster/Medea being in full housewife mode anytime Souichirou is around.

Anything good I should watch.  I need a good comedy right now.

I have been watching to many sad animes lately.

Like many others I‘m currently watching Hamefura. If you haven’t I would give it a try. It is wholesome.

What a dry season, hopefully, things will get more interesting by July. For this season, I am only watching Hamefura.

edit:

Btw, Shaman King will be getting a brotherhood or HXH treatment. 2021.
