Whats Lying on your Workbench MK IV

Interesting to see that even though the Yamato and Musashi were sister ships, the Yamato was much more heavily armed.

What color gray did you use? Instructions called for Kure Arsenal gray, but I used Yukosuka Arsenal gray instead (since that's what I already had a lot of). Did a mix of hull red and Gundam red for the hull.

Just waiting for the BEAST to be released.

Beast? And I love the missile pods on the Viper. Who doesn't love spamming missiles besides that baby that consistently punks out Jimmy Fallon in the commercials?

the "Beast" is the Battlestar Pegasus. Noob.. :p

<------Served. I'm watching the last episode of the 1978 BSG right now. That will wrap it up for both series and I don't recall it ever being refered to as the frakking "Beast".

Always wondered what the Missile Pods would look like on a Viper (Inspired by the Raptors with Pods) and they make it look alot more aggressive!

Just wait til the Pegasus comes out, it will be a total free for all among builders with that one, LED's and all! :D

I know for sure in BSG RAZOR Pegasus referred to as the Beast and the Galactica is nicknamed the Bucket.

the first time it is referred to as the "Beast" is actually in Season 2 an episode or two after "Scar"..."The Captain's Hand", I think was the name. I only know this because the GF and I just happened to watch that episode last night...(she's watching the entire series with me)..yes...she's frackin awesome!

anywhooo...in other news!....back on topic...about 100 or so parts in on the FM 1:72 Falcon and only about 5 gazillion more to go...however..over the weekend got a lot done on the upper side of the engine bay area including my resin fans and PE grills test fitted.

That is one detailed Falcon Derex, just something about those photo etched parts make all the difference, and speaking of parts looks like you have a ton of small parts to add. Also thank you for the BSG reminder, I knew Razor, but couldn't remember Scar. :D

Love the Falcon. Can't wait to see it when you finish.

Just finished the Cat's Eye, ground support vehicles, ground crew, and base. I would like to thank tundrayeti for making the macross support vehicles because these vehicles rock! The base is also from tundrayeti minus the painting and staining. I also what to say thank you Captain for the Cat's Eye. It puts Tanman's to shame. Hope you guys enjoy the finish product.

Finally finished her. The Imperial Japanese Navy Battleship Musashi. 1/350 scale from Tamiya. My first ship kit, and first real world build in quite a few years.

I think the hardest part of the build was stringing those wires. Heated and pulled sprue technique. Got so frustrated at it, gave up after 3. But damn, they look nice!

Very cool build, love the wood deck.

Now if I can just put the future and decals on my Spartan I can get to washing and weathering.. You guys will probably think Im a sissy, but I have been working on a couple templates for airbrushing my daughters nails :p ,,, 1st run not so good,, she is only 5 and tiny fingers

Is that a wood deck?

Yes. It's a laser-cut wood deck from KA Models.. If you're doing a ship, I think using one of these is the #1 way to make a slick looking model when you're finished.

I agree. After my positive experience with the deck I used on Yamato, I'm going to use them wherever I can on future ship builds. I would be working on the Missouri in her late WWII camo scheme, but I'm waiting on the deck, so I'm working on Trumpeter's massive 1:32 MiG-23.

What's with Trumpeter and super detailed engines and not mentioning how to display them in the instructions anyways (or photo-etch for that matter)?

Yep. And, I've been searching Google for other builds for inspiration/tips/etc, and there are none to be found. The only one I've seen was a Tamago plane.

  • 2 weeks later...

Starting on Narn Frazi fighter after my SV-51. I needed something fun after that disaster.

The is a hypothetical piece. I figured maybe Sheridan and company had to beg, steal and borrow equipment from all of their allies, as they couldn't have Whitestars, Thunderbolts and Starfuries everywhere. I am going to tweak it just a bit.

Experimented with trying to make my own canopy - none supplied and it's already a bit larger thatn the cockpit tub, making vacuforming not an option. But, the expermiment failed. Some of the attempts:

I then just decided to use the supplied plug. I started Dremeling away the innards with coarse- and then fine-grit diamond bits. Diamond riffler files will complete this:

Gave the cockpit tub a similar treatment. It will need a cockpit scratchbuilt:

Buried a tube for an armature deep in the aft end of the piece:

Want the vertical stabilizers (I guess that's their job) to be more geometric. The delineation is a bit soft on the kit. I added a bit of styrene with some Aves to come:

More to come. Comments and criticisms welcome, as always.

Kenny

That's some good looking stuff. I look forward to the finished product. The fact that you hand made all that is awesome. Also when using photobucket choose the IMG Code to get your pics to appear normally in your post.
