Whats Lying on your Workbench MK IV

Everything looks awesome folks. I'm constantly impressed by the skill , dedication and results being pulled off here.
I've finally made some little progress on my Super Lancer project. Spring time here in Cali has me working constantly on the land, but I'm trying to find some time . And i was a little distracted on a certain franchise 40k, working on miniatures too. Ok, to the point !
I changed the original color (again!) of the Lancer. Not sure I'm entirely happy with the final mix, looks a little too yellow to me. . But I'm not changing it again! Lol.  The gray on the supers peeled on me, primer issue, so i had to re shoot it. Now needs some touch up. And I've started some panel lining. The extra tall mast is cut from a model spru and puttied. It's in its final shaping phase. I made a special bracket to hold the supers and easily attach them to the Lancer. I'll be working on the lower arm supers attachment next. Everything is just sitting together, not glued yet. This is the 5th model for my SDF-2 hangar diorama project. 277F4018-724A-416E-895F-436CA3138FF0.jpeg.4f71d5cb35f8f4feeb7460e72ce8bec9.jpeg

See you next Deculture!

Taking a break from decalling the Enterprise; it's pretty extensive and my focus is a bit off due to the foul weather). Anyways, found this at a flea market last sunday:

(Yeah, I know: doesn't resemble poor Hikaru, huh?)

Anyways, stripped the figure and helmet down, added an addition to the waist to lengthen the ridiculously short torso, repainted the figure  and the helmet, and resculpted the head:

Progress so far:

Just need to paint in the eyes and refine the overall likeness a bit.

Stay tuned...

@pengbuzz WOW!!! You REALLY breathed new life into that! Now he DOES look like Hikaru. Also with less obvious metal joints now too.😄

I haven't seen one of those figures in forever it seems too. - MT

Definitely a huge improvement on that little guy

Great work @pengbuzz!

Thanks guys! It's been a dream of mine for some years to finally accurize Mr. Ichijyo/ Mr. Hunter

Speaking of which, final pics:

Now he'll go next to my VF-1S (still trying to find repair parts fr my VF-1J model). I might do a 1/18 scale cockpit, you never know...

Now back to the Enterprise...

Stay Tuned...

She has/is a lovely figure @electric indigo. Very nice.

And WOW @arbit! That is fantastic! I love how you can move them around, and all the work that went into lighting and setting it up.

As for me, I figured out the mounting for my  current Yamato. Two diameter metal rods, a larger styrene tube and some drilling and glue!

Now I can close up the rear end!

@pengbuzzThe old Enterprise and Rickaru are look GREAT! SDF-1 never gets old that BIG! Great mods to that!

Titanic UPDATE - Actual REAL progress today - Step 1 - Mark lines for additional spaces to cut for lighting to shine up.  Step 2 - Drill guide holes using micro drill - Step 3 - Carefully cut out new holes using hot knife. BAM! Lots of new spaces for LED lights in hull to shine up through. Tomorrow... final small upper deck light blocking and more coloring of planks..UHHHGGGG. SOooo sick of doing that! ONWARD!

So far so good! Really liking how that deck looks, and it looks like you're about to light this ship up like a Christmas tree!

The fruits of my labor yesterday....Most complete mockup pics to date...A better man might light each single deck, but at this scale...I don't have the skill to do it. 1/200 would be another story.  Each of the upper decks will get SOME light now though, and in the end I think it will be fine.  Still a million things to do, but starting to feel slightly better about this whole endeavor! (saying that quietly, don't want to jinx myself)....

I really like that stand. It’s such a simple, but great idea for a display

Thanks Big S; it's also very easy to make as well! Just cut a circle out of thick styrene plate, print and paste whatever image you want for the stand, drill holes and glue in the appropriate size pegs, trim them and voila! It also keeps the figure from falling over like he had one too many with Roy at the bar! lol

@pengbuzz GREAT looking revamp and restoration of a classic figure! That stand is AWESOME and a GREAT touch to finish off that restoration. I LOVE the nostalgic look of your Enterprise and what a GREAT job you did fixing all those mechanical issues with it too! The colors look great and that Photoshop picture is the icing on the cake!

@derex3592 You are doing a TITANIC job of lighting that model! The details to include the lighting are really adding to the look of realism to the model.

@Thom The modifications to your Yamato with the stand are well engineered. It should hold up to the weight of it sitting like that.

Got a little done this weekend. Made two decal sheets and got everything hooked up. It works! Now its time to finish off the painting and finishing.

QUESTION: Do you guys think I should paint the base, or leave it natural aluminum? I'm throwing it around and not sure. The original plan was to paint the base and weather it to look like it came from the actual plane (if it existed). Thanks for your time and feedback! - MT

You should definitely weather the base!  There's not enough contrast with the more-or-less 'factory fresh' bullet (or do you have plans to weather that, too?)

Can't say one way or the other about painting the base, though.

Is that 1/500 scale, or 1/1000?  I felt that my 1/1000 had huge gaps in the red hull, which I see you have puttied.

@MechTech Your base actually looks cool as factory fresh steel.  But it is a matter of taste, if you know how to paint and weather, go for it.  But I would not want it the same paint and weathering as the plane, you need more of a contrast. Factory fresh with a bit of weathering, or heavy weathering,  would be my choices.

Hey @arbit. It is 1/1000, and yeah I had forgotten it is a little gappy. The next one I build I'm going to have to keep that in mind, and see about tackling it as the hull pieces go together. Part of the problem is molding the pieces in color and the gimick of the fighter carousel inside the hull. Too many hull pieces. On the lower hull, I was able to wedge thin pieces of stryene sheet into them, but on the upper I'll be using PPP.

Hey, for my money it looks pretty good just the way you're doing it now! I wouldn't have the patience to do all that, tbh. I hate tiny little windows (and tiny little Macs and tiny little Linuxes as well! )

Awww, thanks! It was an honest pleasure to finally accurize poor Hikaru! Next, I'd like to get Roy Fokker, but he's a bit scarce at the moment.

I would go for painted, heavily weathered and chipped to where patches of metal are showing!

I finished Lacia's main weapon and it cost a lot of nerves. Each of the prongs has 11 layers of thin, long parts with minimal contact area. Some paint damage happended, and things fell apart if you touched them in the wrong spot...

Still 6 monoliths to go...

@Thom Your detailing on the Yamato looks good!

@electric indigo Despite the issues with painting, it is looking nice and clean!

Thank you guys for the feedback! It is basically tied for opinion. I think I'll go with the base painted, weathered and chipped. Working on pieces for it now. - MT

Hi Ya'll. What do you guys and gals think of this perspective? The buildings are 3.5cm high, with 1/60 scale figures in the foreground. The figures would be giants, except from this angle.
